'66 Chevy Steelies?
1972 Satellite replied to 1972 Satellite's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thank you for the help Bill. That is not something that you can just Google. I think my next build will be this cover car from the June 2007 issue of Muscle Car Enthusiast. -
Is there any kit or resin casters that supply steel wheels and dog dishes for a 1966 Chevy (Chevelle, if that matters?)
-
There she is. Looks real nice too. Sure that ain't the Chrysler Prowler?
-
That is gorgeous. Very classy.

This car was modeled after the Kenn Funk's F6 Charger Daytona in the Feb 2010 issue of Muscle Car Review. The only thing that makes it different is the 4 speed. I had to lay two white stripes and give the wing a base coat of Spring Green Metallic before 2 white coats to get them to match. The wiper motor, air cleaner, and exhaust manifolds are from a '67 GTX. Paint is from MCW. Steelies from Revell's '68 Charger. Tires are from Modelhaus.

I have been waiting for someone to come out with a JK in scale since I got the Unlimited a couple years ago. The bottle of touch up paint is waiting to be used on the replica.

NORTHCOAST MEETING 1-19-10 PICS
1972 Satellite replied to Tom Kren's topic in Model Club News and Announcements
Tom, I believe the Model Of The Year went to Doug Gribble and his Gold '49 Merc. Congratulations to Steve and Doug. -
Daisy Dukes '74 Road Runner Has Been Released!
1972 Satellite replied to Custom Hearse's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The point is that there is three colors of stripes and 4 pie tins so you can build Road Runners that were not on the Dukes. That bird cartoon is free advertising as far as I am concerned. Besides, I would hesitate calling that "intellectual" property. Monogram and their "71 Satellite", AMT and the "68 Plymouth" and all sorts of Superbirds missing the decals makes me mad when I think of all the car shows I go to where guys put plush Wile E Coyotes in the back seat among other WB trademarked schmotz. -
Daisy Dukes '74 Road Runner Has Been Released!
1972 Satellite replied to Custom Hearse's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I have a couple notes on this kit too. I do not understand why the cartoon bird is not represented on the decal sheet, when Warner Brothers owns the right to Dukes AND the Road Runner cartoon. The decal sheet would be a 10 if not for that fact. On the positive side, there are plates for the Plymouth and the General Lee, some fun bumper stickers for the Boar's Nest and "My other car is the General Lee" and all the stripe colors. The tire are stamped Goodyear and all the parts are bagged seprately. Chuck, it is wonderful how nicely the '71 Charger fits under this car. -
That's awesome Steve. You will have to build another to keep.

amt 1970.5 chevy camaro
1972 Satellite replied to Corvette.Jeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You know that Model King re-issued the improved '70 Camaro Z/28 also, and I mention it because the decal sheet is loaded with 4 colors of rally stripes, plates, gauges and racing numbers and sponsers. Plus, it is molded in white plastic. It might be harder to find at this point and the price is higher than the new one in orange. -
I hope that you get a job at GM. They could use a designer like you, and I would mind my tax dollars paying your salary . I majored in industrial design at AIP and we had to do models like that, but none of us could do what you did with that Corvette. Really great idea that looks fantastic. Can't wait for the 300 or whatever is next. You should call that the Dogbone Vette.

1/24 Revell '69 Pontiac GTO "The Judge" 2'n1
1972 Satellite replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
You know, sometimes you get a treat in a kit that has been reissued 100 times. Hats off to Revell for updating that decal sheet and giving us really nice Judge stripes that have the correct 3 color overlays instead of the old 2 color stripes from the old Monogram (that I show for contrast on the bottom). Plus it now has all the gauge faces, emblems, and wheel centers now too. And best of all it is molded in white, instead of my old orange one. Best of all, I got it for $13.99 at a discount drug mart. -
71-74 RoadRunners are not as easy to clone as you make it out to be. Satellites and Satellite Sebrings have to have the stock dash swapped for a rallye style, Satellite hoods where different, and GTXs and RRs did not come in coupes, only hardtops. I am not even going to start on the engine and transmission differences.

68 1/2 Mustang CJ Replica - Update 12-26-09
1972 Satellite replied to SteveG's topic in WIP: Model Cars
That looks real good Steve. Red primer and blue overspray are really appealing to the eye. That is going to be a real head-turner when done. -
I like this one ALOT. Great job.
-
That is James Tester's 1:1 car minus the interior. That looks great, and reminded me that I did not use an air-cleaner yet cause 440 Super Commando decals are few and far between. I will attempt one of those soon, and use yours as a reference.
-
Thanks for the compliments guys. Real quick note for you all with the 80s re-issue. If you want a white interior, paint those yellow seats with a metalizer first cause that yellow plastic would not go away under even 4 coats of white primer and paint. Glad you all like the stance, I thought it was a bit high in the back, but I will leave it as is.

Those old MPC bodies need alot of panel seems scribed.
-
I finally finished this bird up for Detroit. The MPC Plymouth body and interior combined with the AMT '71 Charger chassis and engine. The paint is MCW GA4 light charcoal metallic. The hood is from the '72 RR, so I guess when I do the '72 it will have the air-grabber hood. The side view mirrors are from the Monogram Challenger. I must admit, James Tester held my hand through the modification of the Charger. We both own 1:1 71-74 Plymouths and he has built plenty of the kits. Thanks for looking.

I am pleasantly surprised to see so many of those Revell kits in the test shot phase already. The ZR1 and the ACR are both wanted additions. That '62 Impala was just announced last week or something, right? That '66 is going to be awesome. Got to get a couple of those Lawman kits too.

RC/2's Daytona and 67 GTO re-issues...
1972 Satellite replied to LVZ2881's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The one thing I got from the box is the Daytona is molded in red and the GTO is done in blue. The re-issued 05 Concept Camaro is molded in red as well.
