Yep, will be available in a Revell US box, I don't think they're going to even import the Revell-Germany boxing, looks as if they're going to try and time them to come out around the same time. There will also be a Cabrio based on the new tooling, but only as a Revell-Germany kit. I think the Cabrio is scheduled to come out first, sometime this summer.

Long-time ESPN and ABC anchor, ESPN and ABC do the race coverage. Somebody at Revell/Monogram (Bill Lastovich, maybe?) was a major Indy Pace Car fan, they did loads of them during the 80's, 90's and 2000's, from both the present-day at the time and the past. Just off the top of my head, not all had pace car decals, but a lot of them did - 55 Chevy 64 Mustang 69 Camaro (even has molded flags) 72 Hurst Olds 78 Vette 79 Mustang 82 Camaro 84 Fiero 86 Vette 89 Trans Am GTA 90 Beretta? (know they did a Beretta Pro Street, did they ever do a stock street car or a convertible?) 91 Viper 93 Camaro 94 Mustang Cobra 95 Vette 96 Viper GTS 98 Vette Pretty much every thing since '02 SSR without pace car decals. You can kinda count the 80 Trans Am and 81 Regal in there, too, they're not exactly the same versions that Monogram did, though. Future releases of 49 Olds and 50 Mercury convertibles from them wouldn't surprise me one bit. AMT/Ertl kitted the Dodge Stealth, but called it an "Indy 500 Official Car". They also did many of the same 90's cars as Revellogram. Lindberg, of course, does the 53 Ford.

It's still on. Wasn't a "new" announcement per se. I think it's gotten at least a tentative date for this summer, dig back a couple pages, I posted my most up to date info, I'm pretty sure it was on there.

How Do I Use A Wash Over Lacquer?
Brett Barrow replied to ScaleDale's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I always like to seal Alclad just to be safe when using oil-based washes. Sometimes using oil or enamel washes over unsealed Alclad can pull up some of the metallic particles and you'll end up with sparkly bits in your wash, which kinda ruins the effect. I've never had much luck with acrylic washes, they tend to be grainy and you have no time to work with them before they dry, and then once they're dry you can't really go back and blend them out like you can with oils. -
Which pick-up kit is the best?
Brett Barrow replied to Jantrix's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Revell's 37 Ford is a great kit, the current issue even comes with a surfboard and surf-related decals. I could live without the '38-ish custom front end treatment, but the dropped suspension, '40 Ford wheels and hubcaps and the hotrod parts for the flathead are welcome additions. -
Microscale discontinuing Mobil decals
Brett Barrow replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
More likely they stopped it because it is nickle-and-dime. I've mentioned it before, that most of the large companies don't even handle their own licensing, or even make any money off of it, very often they're actually paying a licensing firm to handle it for them. No large company treats licensing as a profit generator, it's an inconvenience for them, too. But they have to protect their trademarks or risk losing them to the public domain, where everyone - including competitors and counterfeiters - could use them at will. Like Cheeseburger Eddie says, "You gotta always protect the McNuggets™©2010-2013 McDonald's. All Rights Reserved" -
Not a big fan of the rake on a car from that era (but I'm a huge fan of the rake on cars of other eras!!! ). Really dig the contrasting roof color. Not a lot you can do to the '55 300 to make it look better, they were such good-looking cars right off the showroom floor. The wires look great on it, love those wheels.

A new hobby shop has opened
Brett Barrow replied to forthlin's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
"Awesome Hobbies"? Smart, a name that comes early in alphabetical order (for those that still use the Yellow Pages, or search engines that sort alphabetical). "Lots of paint"? Good sign, paint is the lifeblood of a brick and mortar hobby shop. If you ever want to know how a hobby shop's doing just look at the paint racks. A failing hobby shop will have lots of holes in their paint racks. They'll blame it on their suppliers, of course - but it ain't their suppliers... (unless we're talking about Gunze paint, that's the only paint currently having supply issues) "Old and rare models"? That's not really a good sign, they probably bought out an old shop's inventory. They shouldn't over-value old kits. A brick and mortar shop ain't a swap meet and it ain't ebay. If it don't move quickly, get it out the door and bring in something in that will move. -
If this is a dying hobby, I hope I'm doing this good when I'm on my deathbed. I don't think it's ever been better from the POV of a hard-core hobbyist, especially when you factor in all genres of modeling, there are now armor, airplane, and ship kits I never thought I'd see in long-run injection styrene, and sci-fi is just plain-out exploding, despite all the present-day licensing we thought would kill that segment when it started. The American model car companies certainly took it on the chin about 10 years or so back, but that was mainly due to their toy-company owners at the time and focus on supplying the whims of big-box stores and those types of consumers. Now that they've come out of that period and are all now under more hobby-focused ownership I think they're in a stronger position than when they went in, especially Revell since Hobbico bought them. If we can get AMT/MPC and now Lindberg making new tooling under Round2's stewardship we might just enter into a new golden age. Considering there was a huge global recession and record-setting yen-to-dollar exchange rates over the past handful of years, it's surprising we're in as good of shape as we are. The hobby industry beat it's own pre-recession growth estimates which came as a pretty big shock to most of us when the last state-of-the-hobby survey numbers came out a couple years back.

1/25 Revell '90 Mustang LX 5.0 2'n1 Special Edition
Brett Barrow replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Yes, the taillight lenses are molded onto the same sprue as the lightbar lenses it's just that I don't remember it having any red lenses at all, only clear. I could be wrong, I only saw it for a few minutes. Well, we'll find out in a couple weeks. I guess the race to be the first j-hole to piss on it will have to wait until then... -

I don't remember there being red lenses in the kit I saw. Only got to look through it for a few minutes, though. -
I ordered Monday and it must have been through the USPS, it was in my mailbox, and UPS and FedEx usually leave stuff at the door. I think it was actually in my mailbox Thursday and I didn't check it. This is my first experience with them, but they're the sort of company I've never heard a bad work about. Jameston seems to have a stellar reputation.

Questions about mixing paint: Testors and MM?
Brett Barrow replied to clovis's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The 260 in 64 1/2 Mustangs were black with light blue valve covers and aircleaner. 289's had them in gold and Hi-Po 289's had them in chrome -

Link them together to form aisles and they're known as gondolas. And you can use a gondola to travel from isle to isle... -
Questions about mixing paint: Testors and MM?
Brett Barrow replied to clovis's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Mixing a dark blue with white will usually give you greyish blue because the dark blue has black in it. -
Paint prep on high gloss molded plastic

I'll second (or third?) the powered cleanser. I use "Bar Keeper's Friend". I scrub everything but the clear and chrome with that stuff. -
Those tires with the Goodyear lettering can also can be found in older issues of the '34 Ford Snap kit. They're a bit funky because the inside of the tire is a larger size than the outside due to the design of the wheels. Not sure if they're the same way in the '40 Ford, but I would think so, they look like the exact same tire.

The story I've always heard is that it's basically a Parts Pack chassis and engine mated to the body from the still-born stock 53 Stude they were working on when they got wind that AMT was doing one, too. Rather than flood the market with 2 stock 53 Studes, they chose to modify it into the Miss Deal. Throw it all into a classic Jack Leynnwood box and the rest is history...

1/25 Revell '90 Mustang LX 5.0 2'n1 Special Edition
Brett Barrow replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Not anymore. It got to the point where some folks (especially ebay sellers) were just ignoring the dates, so then everybody started ignoring them, so they just quit doing them. Been about 5 years, I'd say. -
It's this w/ new wheels:
