  1. If you have to use canned air, you can use the 50% off coupons at Michael's and it ends up costing $5 to $6 a can.
  2. [attachment 4593:DSC00587.JPG] Almost complete. Installed working hood latches and fuel tank with lines. and overflow tank. Thanks for looking.
  3. I realized I posted in the wrong forum, sorry. But I should be completed soon. More engine pix and painted and decaled body. Thanks for the comments, guys.
  4. Some progress photos of my '63 Vette, AMT kit # 6520. Using the blown 427 . I did some modifications to the rear part of the chassis, wired and plumbed the engine and detailed the interior. I removed the radio and clock and replaced the speaker with wire mesh ,added some gauges and a roll bar.
  5. thanks so much for all the comments.
  6. [attachment 4378:DSC00538.JPG]Finishing up a project that's been on the back burner for since last May. I had to do all the graphics from scratch. Allen Grant drove for only one season. This car went through several face lifts but I think this one was the most beautiful version. I still have to make a few additions before complete.
  7. Let me be the first to congratulate you on a job well done. Nice Vette!!!!
  8. If you can find some scraps of leather, and turn it over and use the back side. a good source is places that sell leather furniture, they usually have some extra swatches. they update their samples periodically and usually discard the old samples. another possibility is an upholstery shop. I have enclosed a couple of photos of a '55 Chevy interior in which I used this method. It really looks like shag carpeting.
  9. One of the nicest '57s I have seen. You did a nice job on the dash, too.
  10. I appreciate all the comments from you guys. To answer the question about the color; for the light paint, I started with gloss white and sparingly added a little red and yellow until I got the "orange" shade I wanted. The folded top was painted with Krylon Ivory Satin, as well as the seatback tops and the armrests on the doors. All this was then sprayed with Testors Dullcoat. My progress photos are in the "on the workbench" forum, under '55 chevy convertible" Thanks.

    1955 Chevy

Finally completed. Box stock except for wire wheels, Firestone tires and dual exhaust tips. One of my most enjoyable builds. Color is orange pearl over a gold base and something I mixed up to give a pinkish orange hue for contrast. Enjoy.
  12. [attachment 4225:DSC00490.JPG]Pretty much complete on my '55. It was a lot of fun to build.
  13. Getting near the end. A couple more engine pictures.
  14. finally complete (I think) '70 Swede Savage 'cuda.
  15. some more updates on my '55. some chrome added & engine compartment work done.
  16. Thanks, but actually the dash was stock, I only highlighted the gauges, knobs and bel air logo.
  17. engine nearly finished
  18. nearing completion on '55 bel air. interior finished
  19. Sorry, didn't know you were folically deficient. I also wish I was there, love Sam Francisco.
  20. Be sure to wear "some flowers in your hair"
  21. I had to go make some popcorn and a Coke, just so I could look at all those pictures. Hey, you did a fantastic job on this. I have one in the box, that I guess I'll have to start on. You've inspired me.
  22. Thanks guys for the comments. Curt, I am very familiar with the historic trans am site. That is where I get most of my reference material from. Also you might want to check out "atspeedimages.com. So far I have done the '69 Camaro #6, the "70 Parnelli Jones #15, the #77 Challenger, and the "71 Javelin #6. I don't know if there are any more trans-am cars that I want to do, except maybe the '67 Parnelli Jones Cougar. I wish they would race these cars on the east coast, so I could see them close up. All this came about from building the #11 Donohue GT-350R, and one thing led to another.
  23. Current endeavor: This is the 1970 AAR Barracuda driven by Swede Savage during the 1970 season. Fred Cady decals, scratch built roll cage, first time using solder for headers.
  24. I have tried painting them flat white, and mixing a minute amount of acrylic aluminum with water and making a translucent wash. Apply in small amounts over the white until you get the look you want. It dries pretty fast.
