  1. That is wicked cool! Great job and I love the color, it really sets the car off!
  2. Thanks, Paul, I'd really appreciate that!
  3. Hmmm, a flip front end, sounds like a pain in the butt to engineer and make work correctly. So I'm on a short timeline, lots of scratchbuilding, and lots could go wrong. In other words, heck yeah, why wouldn't I?
  4. This is a really cool idea and you pulled it off well. I really like the fastback body and the paint scheme works on this car. If I didn't know better, I would have thought it was a Cyclone! Great job!
  5. Thanks, James and everyone else. Kyle you are correct! It will have a 4 speed, I've always thought that drag cars are no fun unless they are a "hand shaker". I hope to get a lot done today, this is going to be a quick build.
  6. I really like all of the little details that you added, they make the model come alive. Lots of things on this car I didn't know they did in the 50's.
  7. Excellent! Very well done, this is a great kit with lots of building possibilities. The color really sets it off.
  8. Well, the doctor was in the lab all day sanding parts and mapping out a strategy for the monster. I'm thinking ladder bars for the rear suspension and a straight axle on leaf springs in front. I shot some primer on the body and I will resand a reprime tomorrow. I hauled out a resin 427 SOHC from my stash and began mocking that up. I also did some work on the interior floor and mocked up the resin van seats from Competition Resins, I need to build some risers for the seats. More to come!
  9. Looks really good, very clean. I've never built this kit, I've heard it is difficult to build, but you did a great job on it. May I should pick one up to add to my giant pile of "someday" kits.
  10. Wicked chop! Luvin' it, way cool Daddy-O!
  11. Thanks guys! I hope it turns out as nice as the other '57. I might be able to get the body in primer tomorrow, we get together at the local hobbyshop on Friday nights and I usually can get a lot of sanding done then. Then tomorrow, it's back to the lab!
  12. I think that is the best build up of the Dragula I have ever seen!
  13. Ha! Made ya look! You thought it was going to be a Chebby! In the spirit of the recently completed "BattleFord" '57 Land speed car, I thought I try to do another '57 Ford for the Ohio Challenge. I have about 2 months to finish this, but I got a good start today, I had a snow day! Yay! NO School! (I'm the teacher). So, I spent all day cutting, grinding, measuring, chopping, filling and gluing and my evil plan is coming together. By day a mild mannered Dr. Jekyll family car, a 1957 Ford Custom 300 2 door sedan. At night the mad doctor gets out the blue wrench and the welder and it becomes; Mr. Hyde, a fuel injected, fire breathing, psychotic thrill ride filled with 427 cubic inches of Cammer powered terror! The rear wheels are moved forward, the front frame rails are replaces with rectangular tubes and the interior has been modified. Watch out Chevy drivers, the doctor is about to allow the inner beast to come to life!
  14. Looks great Robert! Thank you very much Jesse, that is quite the compliment, you should really try to make it to our contest there are some really great builds there. Sean, thanks and will we see you there with a '57? I hope so your Gremlin was great!
  15. This Thursday the BSAC will have its February lovefest at the Speedy-O Slot Car Drag Strip, There will be hugs for all who attend, kisses from the trophy queen, and a rousing chorus of Kumbaya with plenty of hand holding. Come see the seductive curves of the model cars, the alluring look of the primer projects, and the special bond of brotherly love between all of those in attendance. So come on out and feel the love of the BSAC!
  16. The date for the show is March 23, it's at the Franklin County Fairgrounds over in Hilliard. If you come make sure you introduce yourself, it won't be hard to figure out which one I am.
  17. Thank you all very much! I have really enjoyed building it, I tried to push myself a little with the scratchbuilding and body work. I also tried to keep it as close to something that could have been from the 50's as possible. I means a lot to have such great modelers as you guys say such nice things about my work.
  18. Here's the interior and engine shots:
  19. I just finished her up about 15 minutes ago, so here's some photos. To give you some background on the build, our club runs the Buckeye Classic Model Car Show in Columbus, Ohio every year at the end of March. No club members are allowed to enter the show to make sure all of the awards go to our guests, the contestants. We really wanted to go up against some of the great modelers we saw at the show, so we came up with the idea of the "Ohio Challenge". It's a same kit contest within the contest where clubs can compete to see who is the best. We pick a kit, send out the word a year in advance to the other clubs in Ohio, and we all show up to have the contestants vote on the favorite. Last year we picked the Revell 1957 Ford Custom 300. You can build it any way you want and there are no rules. This is my entry. I figured everyone would build a gasser or a custom, so I decided to build something completely different, a salt flat car. It's a "what if" car, what if Ford had built a car for the salt flats in '57? Instead of the famed "Battlebird" Thunderbird or the "Mermaid" Mercury, what if they chose a plain old '57 Ford, chopped the roof off, dropped a fuel injected 312 in her, set the driver in the middle in line with the engine to improve straight line weight stability, channeled it a little over the frame, and took her to Bonneville? This is that car. Comments are welcome.
  20. OK, she's up on the "Under Glass" section. David, Bruce, Andy, Michael, and everyone else, thanks for the encouragement. I think it turned out exactly as I had planned. It means a lot to have fellow modelers give you the thumbs up on your work.
  21. Thanks, Greg! Here's another post to enjoy: ModelFink
  22. Bruce, very soon it will be under glass, there are some minor details that are still being worked out. As of right now, I'm waiting for the front bumper to dry and then I have to slap it on and call it done!
  23. Very clean build of a really cool subject.
  24. Great! We can't wait to see you there! Just a little advertisement, our vendor tables are $20, that's right $20 for an 8 foot table and we'll throw in a couple of chairs for free! If you sell one kit you covered the cost of the table, so click the link below for more info about being a vendor at the greatest show on the 39.9833rd parallel. Here's the link: BSAC Show
  25. The long and tedious process of body work is almost done. It was done until the primer showed some flaws I missed! Anyhoo, I still have to fit the rear tail light panel a little better and do some sanding on the front spoiler, then I need to make and mount a rear spoiler. After that, I can think about some paint, which will be another drawn out process. The next build is going to be box stock!!
