Car manufacturers bailing out of Oz...
Ramcharger replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
GM earned $5 billion (with a "B") and Ford earned $6.5 Billion in 2012, GM's CEO made $7.7 million, Ford's CEO pay FELL to $21 million this year. Please stop the high minimum wage and taxes are putting them out of business. They are making tactical decisions to get a better deal from the Gov't and/or workers, or maybe they just aren't selling as many cars down under as they used to, or a new trade agreement will allow them to be made cheaper in a 3rd world country. -
Wheelstanders , who was first ?
Ramcharger replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Some of the old 65 AWB dodges and Plymouths went on to be wheelstanders (none successful) and Chrysler sent out a memo to racers to stop doing "Wheelies". Dick Landy had quite the reputation for wheelstanding his Dodge and Hubert Platt had no problem puttin' the front end way up in his 65 Falcon. Both racers were booked on several occasions at tracks for their ability to put her on the rear bumper. So would they be considered the first? -
Seth, feel free to steal as much of this model as you like. I think it's pretty cool to use the Mod motor in the old bodies. I gotta say, your post made my day.
-
Yeah the throttle body will be an issue, I may have to graft in part of the 2010 hood. The wheels are as tucked just right for now, but there is more bodywork to come.
-
It's going to have side skirts and a front air dam. I'm debating on a rear diffuser and spoiler., I also need a '70 Boss 429 hood scoop to cover the gaping hole in the hood. I think I have another round of bodywork to do on this car before it's done.

Neeto!

Ok! I've had to chop the radiator and core support to make it fit and I finished up the body work. Then I noticed a few flaws in the headrest deal, so that led to some lookin' at it. I decided it needed taller fins for high speed stability. So I slapped some on, which leads to more bodywork. Which I hate. With a passion. Why do I do these things to myself? Oh, and I cut some tiny little bolt heads to put on the rear suspension arms on the 'Stang. 'Cause I'm an Idiot.

More! I've mocked up the interior with the '10 Shelby seats, they took a little customizing, but they fit. I also chopped on the hood some, the blower sticks out a little. Comments welcome!

not your typical 58 belvedere 2.18.14 finished!
Ramcharger replied to streetmachine11's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Pretty Cool!! -
More progress! I built the lower control arms out of brass, my first brass project. Now I have to finish them up and shoot some paint on them and then I can move on to the interior!

The same thing I'm doing to my '68, restomod! It's almost too easy not to do it. Or, you could put the older running gear in the newer body, now that would be different!

BSAC Holiday Bash 2013
Ramcharger replied to Ramcharger's topic in Model Club News and Announcements
OK, here's the pictures at last! Enjoy!! BSAC Bash -
Another post today about what the worst part of modeling.
-
Since I can't seem to remember the days of the week, let's pretend it's a couple of days ago, like Tuesday or something. Since it's Tuesday, I'm announcing the BSAC Christmas party this Thursday night at Speedy-O Raceway slot car track at 628 Harrisburg Pike in Columbus, Ohio!! If you could go back in time you could look forward to the Annual Christmas Kit Build-Off, where we build the kits we got in the gift exchange last year, the exciting brown paper gift exchange, food, fun, and frolicking. as well as the usual monthly contest and bull session. We are also retroactively going to elect club officers for the 2014 year, if we had a time machine. But since it's not Tuesday and you ain't got no time machine, my announcement is too late for you to attend. Oopsie! Sorry about that. I'll post pictures of the fun you could have had if I had made a timely announcement instead of pretending I have a magic time travel phone booth.

Great Aftermarket Companies
Ramcharger replied to Ramcharger's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Thanks again! I've done a little bit of photo etch, just never a suspension. Mostly emblems and throttle linkage type stuff. I hope you picked up in the joke, around here Columbus is pronounced "Clumbis", on syllable, and O-hiya, sorta two syllables. -

Thanks ScaleDale! This is my first attempt with this, hopefully not my last. Your tips and photo really help. -
On Friday I ordered some parts from several places two of which were RB Motion and Ted's Modeling Marketplace. I go out to the mailbox today and my order was there! Wow! That was quick! Excellent parts, speedy service! If you want my hard earned bucks spent at your store or on your parts that's how you do it. Quick service on great well made parts gets me every time, these guys will be getting more of my money soon. Here's some photos of the parts:

Just ordered the resin kit yesterday!

Better Photos.

A little place near Springfield, OH called Grandpa's Garage had a contest today that was pretty cool. A really neat place with lots of old garage art, cars and parts for sale, oh and model cars, too. So, here's some crappy photos from my phone. Try to enjoy, the show was much better than my photos. Grandpa's Garage Photos

Okey-dokey!! Here we go! The chassis is done, the wheels have been decided upon and mounted with tires and here's the first look with the body on the frame. The stance is close, she'll be a little lower in the final fitting. The wheels are resin that I bought up in Detroit at the NNL up there. I shot them with Alclad Stainless Steel over gloss black. The motor is just sittin' in there til I can get to work on the fuel injection set up. Comments welcome!

More, more, more! I had the day off because of the weather, so I did some more on the 'Stang. Wheels, tires, brakes, and the radiator are done. On to the interior!!
