I like it. Lots of the right mood and feel to this one. Thanks for sharing it. I found Hoffa, he's buried under the car.

I bet. I have a wide varied taste in music too, but thank heavens for Pandora, this way I can spend all of that CD money on more styrene. -
A Feast of Snakes (Two Cobras Are Deadlier than One!)
Dr. Cranky replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Model Cars
Thanks, Todd. Well, now that I can't build the Meyer's Manx kit I just got (see why in another thread), I guess I will go ahead and build the third Cobra. It's what's calling to me. -

Rob, you are out of control, having way too much fun with these vehicles. Terrific. Thanks for sharing. -
Folks, just a heads up. I've heard the Iwata prices are going up shortly, but there's still a window of opportunity to get some great deals, so if you've been on the fence, this might be your chance and incentive to get your hands on a great airbrush.

LOL, Harry, I have that kit somewhere on the shelves and I remember that elephant. Those are the extra "treats" that eventually end up being used in a diorama somewhere. -

Sam, that's okay, just try a couple of better pictures and I will copy them over to the video archive. Alex, I like those tires and wheels and thanks for the picture. I copied it already. -
So with my luck, I ended up opening what could possibly be a collectors' item in the distant future. Well, thanks AMT. If anyone wants to trade me for a regular white styrene kit, let me know . . . I'm really not crazy about this.

I went to check on the kit over at the MODEL ROUND UP and this is what I found: 1976 Gremlin (2 'n 1) Stock or Drag (1/25) (fs) Sold Out - Will Return - Early April - 2012 Ready to jump off the dunes and spit sand high in the air, it's the classic Meyers Manx! This fantastic little machine can be built in 4 different ways and will be packaged in a recreation of the original box art. It will even include a special reproduction of the bonus cardboard display stand that came with the very first issue of the kit! Build this wild kit one of four ways: Myers "Manx"/Street Version?Meyers Dune Buggy/Baja Version Please note 1 of every 12 kits, or 1 per carton is a "chase or bonus kit" molded in translucent red. These kits may become more collectable. We have no way of knowing which kits are the chase kits. These are randomly distributed throughout the production run.

STAR FIRE! ...( 59 Impala Flying Car) Update: 3-29-12

Pure eye candy bling, Iran, keep 'em coming! -
Well, I opened it and when I looked at the body parts they are all molded in clear red styrene with glitter on it. I don't know exactly how to feel about it, except I hope primer covers it all up without any problems. Some of the parts do have a rough texture to them because of all the glitter. Hum . . . .
-
Well, my friends, last night I stopped at my LHS and I found a single copy of the Manx and so, of course, I bought it (25 bucks) and brought it home because I wanted to do a unboxing the kit video, and I was totally surprised by the kit. You will see why when I upload the video . . . The thing is molded in clear styrene with glitter thrown in for that faux 70s paint job look, something I think is a terrible mistake. Then I'm thinking I might have gotten a factory mistake, etc . . . Well, you'll see what I mean shortly. Stay tuned in.

Mike, this is a wonderful thread idea. I usually put all the stuff aside as I find it in the different kits. Engine stand, Michelin men, all kinds of other trinkets which I normally end up using when I build dioramas . . . AMT surely had a knack for including lots of that fluff in their kits. I've always loved the extras goodies. It made opening those kits feel like you were opening the treat in a Cracker Jacks box. -
Just go mine! I tucked it under my pillow last night and had these great California dreams of beaches, surfing ladies, and dune buggies kicking up quite a bit of sand. Funny, I woke up thirsty. :D

Who offers the best mail-order models?
Dr. Cranky replied to Joe Nunes's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Of course, the ideal is to wait and attend one of the bigger shows and your eyes will pop out of their sockets seeing kits you've never seen before, and also your wallet will empty pretty fast.- 26 replies

Oh my, that looks great, Sam. Man, I wish the pics were in sharper focus so I can drool over more of those details. -
Actually when you look closely at that face, you see some hints of the mini cooper.
