Geez, I think we all need to eat more SCRAPPLE! Then maybe we can sit around the fire and tell stories just like in BLAZING SADDLES!
-
And Harry, I just noticed you are holding a revolver in your avatar, do we really want the model building children to start thinking of putting guns into their dioramas?
-
LOL, Danno, actually in some other places your avatar would be taken down because your cactus is showing way too many prickles. HA! Is that a word? Prickles? Really.
-
Yes, but did your children build models and then go on forums where their imaginations would be expanded in ever so many directions? We must protect the young model builders from getting crazy ideas in their head. They should only build box stock, and keep their minds beautiful and clean.

Someone had asked about this thread, so I am delighted it's been bumped back up to the top!

Message from EYEGORE to Mr. Harry Pristovnik: "Harry, if you were like the moderator of THAT other place, you would have locked this thread down because the parents of the children participating on this forum would think this would be totally inappropriate."

Message from EYEGORE to DOCTOR CRANKY: "Doc, do you now see why some people would think your posts are nothing but filler?"

Wow, look at all those feathers! LOL!

What you see.......
Dr. Cranky replied to MikeMc's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks, Mike. Wow, I wish I knew enough about Photoshop, etc., to be able to do that . . . I know Harry is a master at it. The paint job on that Merc took me days to do and it almost did me in, but it turned out the way I dreamt it up one night. Thanks to those amazing AB templates CRAIG FRASER keeps putting out, bless his heart, for he is as crazy about Steampunk as I am. -
Build count for 2011
Dr. Cranky replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Wow, you guys have been prolific. I think what would be great would be to show a group portrait of everyones' builds. You know me, I'm always calling for more eye candy. More cow bell, more eye candy! -
What you are describing seems to me to be the in-the-zone building so many of us here love. Once you get to this point in primer, the rest is salivatin' and dreaming about the impending coat of paint.

James I like the rake, and those fenders and tanks are crying out for some metal flake or pearls! Can't wait to see more. -
Boyd's Ice Blue Pearl question
Dr. Cranky replied to sportandmiah's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I agree with Jonathan, a picture would help. I think with some pearls you have to tinker and maybe apply a little bit more bling to them, either through another coat of clear or with maybe a little bit of a different pearl color or effect. Again, if you have not tried the Pearl Ex powders, you should, the line comes with a few blues and transference blues that would augment what you have. -
A MOST POST-APOCALYPSE 2012 TO YOU TOO
Dr. Cranky replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks, everyone. Derrick, you are casting Zombies. Please tell us more. If you do, will you be--how can I say this?--putting them out on the market? I think this time I see no reason for not having the option of making the vehicles shiny. It's an alternative. Rust & Shiny can get along in the world, right? Again, I am ironing out some details, but I won't be ready for any information release until the new year. Your input, of course, is expected and greatly appreciated. -

I like it. Nice model. What did you use for the bed material, cigar box cedar? I like this build quite a bit. Thanks for sharing. -
A MOST POST-APOCALYPSE 2012 TO YOU TOO
Dr. Cranky replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think the thread is still there, and some folks built some cool stuff, but it wasn't a contest. I am talking about a contest for this year, and of course, there will be a thread about it in the COMMUNITY BUILD section. -
A MOST POST-APOCALYPSE 2012 TO YOU TOO
Dr. Cranky replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Oh, Cole, buddy, if you've never built one, you don't know half of the fun you can have building models. -
A MOST POST-APOCALYPSE 2012 TO YOU TOO
Dr. Cranky replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Wow, Chuck, thanks for coming to the rescue. Yes, those are great examples, and your inspiration can come from movies, books, video games . . . real life. The idea is to have fun. I am thinking that instead of money (like last time) I am going to have goodies, all sorts of goodies. Airbrush, kits, supplies, etc . . . I am still ironing out the details. -
A MOST POST-APOCALYPSE 2012 TO YOU TOO
Dr. Cranky replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Cole, don't worry, we'll bring you up to speed shortly. Most people would think of Mad Maxx, but I think it's a lot more. In my case, I like to always think of Zombies, a Toothless Zombie Horde, etc . . . It's merely a way to get people to do lots of kit-bashing and have a blast with their imagination. Most of the time EVERYTHING GOES. I think this time, I'm even thinking of both SHINY AND RUSTY vehicles.
