  1. A beautiful one like this is all it takes to get you hooked into building again! For many of us, life took us on a different path, and now we are back. And this is a great hobby of which to be a part. Cheers, and many happy returns.
  2. I'm liking the way this one is looking. Love the widewalls too.
  3. Man, I think you did a great job on this. You are a low-rider natural!
  4. That frame is looking very good.
  5. I likes it. It's a wonderful model!
  6. Wow, THAT IS very interesting. Keep it going.
  7. Steve, no, buddy, you can take all the space and time . . . it's what this is for, to help each other out . . . I'd be interested to know how you do a simple two-tone with graphics . . . that would be excellent.
  8. Terry, I just saw Steve get on, so I am sure he'll explain how to get started. My advice is to start simple, maybe cut some thin tape strips and do some basic masking and spraying on the sides of your vehicles just to get started. Simple steps to do one type of paint job: 1) paint the whole car in your body color of choice. 2) mask with tape above the waistline of your vehicle . . . as if you were going to do a two-tone, exactly . . . 3) spray second color . . . 4) cut some tape in fine strips and make a simple design, straight lines say, 3-5, then 5) once you have the tape down, spray some clear over the tape to avoid bleedthrough . . . 6) now spray new color (this will be the final color on the side panels. 7) remove tape and you should now have a vehicle with 3 colors and it should look pretty cool. Whatever you end up trying, share it back with us, please . . . good luck.
  9. Looking real good, buddy. I love the colors.
  10. Terry, Steve will have to explain how he did the paint jobs on the models he included in this thread.
  11. I've always tried never to put myself in that situation. I build every once in a while a gift model for someone, but that's it. I learned while still young that you should never mix money with what you love to do.
  12. Oh my that looks beautiful. I say go with the surfboards option. I love the wheels. Heck, I love EVERYTHING about this model. Keep it going, please.
  13. What do you mean paneling? Please explain. Thanks.
  14. What a great and beautiful model!
  15. Me too, it's looking GREAT! Keep it going.
  16. Jim, I find that I go through quite a bit of bottles because I mix my own colors, etc . . . but you might find you will eventually use all 48!
  17. Chris, YES! That's it. I just realized that I have the kit here without the wheels so I must have robbed my own kit for those wheels. There you go. A paint job like this takes me about three days. One for prepping and priming, one for paint and graphics, and one for clear coating. The sanding and buffing happens a few days later when I will usually do several bodies at a time. Thanks.
  18. Absolutely gorgeous. Congratulations.
  19. Yes, Joe, I have done it and it's great, but you have to go very slow, starting out with a couple of misted coats, allow them to dry and then apply heavier coats. I try to put at least 3-4 coats of clear over my decals in particular if I am going to sand and buff for the highest shine possible.
  20. LOL, that's because Tiki, like Rat Rods, is an acquired taste!
  21. Jose, I can't remember where those puppies came from. They were in my parts bin, and the minute I saw them I knew they were right for this build. Chrome smoothies . . .
  22. Thanks, Clay . . . I like that idea . . . it will probably arrive in Chicago in a pretty good shape, I hope.
  23. Thanks, buddy, yeah, my memory served me well that time. I think HOK must have realized there was a market it selling the stuff by the ounce because they started selling it uncut. 2 and 4 ounces without reducer. The Coastairbrush got into the action. That who I get mine from.
  24. Actually Harry, here are the House of Kolor colors that went into this: Orion Silver Tangelo Pearl Cocoa Pearl Planet Greet Razberry Pearl Kopper Pearl Tru Blue Pearl Rootbeer Candy Green Pearlescense Flakes And probably a few others I am forgetting.
