Terry, I just saw Steve get on, so I am sure he'll explain how to get started. My advice is to start simple, maybe cut some thin tape strips and do some basic masking and spraying on the sides of your vehicles just to get started.
Simple steps to do one type of paint job:
1) paint the whole car in your body color of choice.
2) mask with tape above the waistline of your vehicle . . . as if you were going to do a two-tone, exactly . . .
3) spray second color . . .
4) cut some tape in fine strips and make a simple design, straight lines say, 3-5, then
5) once you have the tape down, spray some clear over the tape to avoid bleedthrough . . .
6) now spray new color (this will be the final color on the side panels.
7) remove tape and you should now have a vehicle with 3 colors and it should look pretty cool.
Whatever you end up trying, share it back with us, please . . . good luck.
