  1. A couple more: It really does look sleeker now, and once the white wall tires are riding on the outside, I think it's going to look just right!
  2. Here are a few more angles . . . the bed is tacked on there so it still looks wobbly, but it's fine and square . . .
  3. All right, maties, here's an update on the revision work I've done on everything. I think it's got just the right look now . . . but you will tell me if you like it. Don't hold anything back . . . Here's the shortened frame now with the body--I decided to keep the chopped top--but tacked up the visor so you can get an idea . . . . I added a little touch from the Caddy interior to the cab just for the look of it . . . Here's the new bed . . . I narrowed it and shortened it so that it looks a bit more stubby.
  4. Thanks, John. After I make the chop cuts and glue the top back, I put some half round rod on the seam, and then with my handy pen-size welder (Home Depot) I put in the beads . . . it's a slow process, but you'll ge the hang of it right way . . . besides, it's very forgiving a process in case of mistakes . . .
  5. Thanks, but you guys keep me thinking . . . and tomorrow maybe I will cut off the roof and have this one be convertible. It's still very much in the planning stages. We'll see.
  6. Love the paint and the graphix really make it pop. Good job.
  7. I like this one so far. I have a 55 too, except it's a 4 door 210!
  8. Well I sure do appreciate the honesty, Clay. You know, it looks strange to me too, but I've always wanted to build one of these suckers, like the stuff I've seen in the mags, just totally incongrous and over the top . . . I wanted to use a 57 Thunderbird rear, but that didn't look right, and then I also tried a Falcon pick up bed . . . still didn't give me that over-the-top look, and then all I could think about was the 59 Caddy . . . Nothing about this build is set in stone yet. Heck, it's all still raw plastic. I'm gonna mull it over . . . Again, thanks for the candid assessment. That's how we help each other out on this forum.
  9. So here's how it's looking so far: And the funny thing is that the rear tires are going to ride outside of body . . . so tempted to make them duelys . . . so tempted.
  10. And, of course, this needs no intruduction, but sufice it to say it took a lot of measuring, cutting, and adjusting . . . I dechromed everything on this tailend and glued it in place, filled all the nooks and crannies . . . and have been sanding everything smooth . . . I was not about to go crazy like what I went through with the last 59 Caddy I built, so long ago . . . right?
  11. Here's a better angle:
  12. Here's the body, chopped about 4 scale inches . . . with the weld lines in place . . . The front arms are not aligned but that's going to help prop up the visor, which will work out perfect . . . Here's a shot of the grill and headlights . . . the 41 Chevy grill with some extensive cutting . . .
  13. Here's the mill . . . a straight six shooter . . .
  14. Hello, Maties, here we go again, straight out of D. Cranky's Workshop . . . I started with the frame of the 41 Chevy pick up, the lastest issue from Revell, and modified the frame in the rear . . . as you can see . . . I glued down the floorboard so that it could be a guide for the impending body and bed . . . I think I shorted the frame by maybe 3 scale inches . . .not by choice but because of the type of bed this thing is going to carry.
  15. Thanks, E. I had fun building it, that's for sure, although it nearly pulled me down into the depths of Hell!!!
  16. LOL!!! Yeah, abducted by the Shiny Paintjobs from Outer Space!!!
  17. Oh, my, he's trying to lure another unsuspecting victim . . . but this one's got the D's number!!! Look, buddy, maybe when you get the hood on there . . . Nah, not even the hypnotic effects of the trunk works on this dude!!!
  18. What I should've done is put a red LED under all that resin so that it would glow . . . you live and you learn . . . Here's a shot of the engine . . .with all its gazillion parts--Geez, this thing has lots of parts!!!
  19. Aha, the trunk works!!! The PORTAL TO HELL!!!
  20. I've been sitting in this chair getting zapped for three hundred years, amigo . . . can you spare some time? And yes, YES!!! This is the same cigar I've been chewing on all these years!!!
  21. Come on, buddy, just a little spin . . . ? Someone else will eventually fall!!!
  22. For those of you building this 59 Caddy kit, you can use thin rubber bands to hold the front grill in place while the glue dries . . . at least that's one way I found I could do it and retain my sanity . . . or whatever is left of it . . . So I guess the guy in the chair is one cool Devil and he tries to lure people to sit on the driver's seat and take the vehicle out for a spin . . . so far it is not working . . . Look, buddy, I know you got booze and beer and great music, but no thanks . . .
  23. Geez, for a couple of days I really thought this one was never getting done . . . sheesh!!! Stay tuned in for progress pics . . .
  24. Thanks, chaps . . . now of course I have to build them, which should be fun!
