  1. LOL!!! Hey, CB--I love the idea . . . a headboard and YES, there will be stuff hanging from it. That's a very cool idea, and don't mind if I borrow it!!!
  2. I came back and dulled all of that glaring chrome with a flat aluminum wash: here's the result:
  3. Here's a pic of the little box I made to hide the fact that the tranny is short. I still have to paint it and then weld it on . . . This one is really looking cobbled together, and I have to say I like it . . .
  4. This one just keeps getting uglier and uglier . . .
  5. Thank you for the comments. I just toned down all of that chrome and it does look better. Stay tuned in for some pics . . .
  6. actually, I realized I have to build like a fake casing to hide the tranny from a front view . . . always looking for the quickest (not necessarily best) solution!!! Thanks for the comments, chaps. I am having fun with this one too.
  7. Thanks, J, my doctor just told me I have a bad case of styrene-itis . . .
  8. I got most of the parts in primer . . . so TAILCHASER is getting one step closer to getting painted. Stay tuned in:
  9. Yes, I do have to tone down some of that new chrome. Here are some pics of the interior, or as close as I could get with the camera: The grainy look to the dashboard is the paint I used on the seats . . . River Rock by Krylon--I don't know why in the world I thought it would be cool on there!
  10. Greetings, I thought I'd share this with you, one of the most time consuming builds I've done recently, and it's not the model's fault, it's all the running around trying to find parts that will fit, including the 1961 Ford Ranchero (AMT), a 1937 Ford -chassis, the front clip of a 59 Vette, cut down the middle and glued together into frog-face fashion, and a whole bunch of other parts thrown in for good measure. I kept thinking of a Frankenstein frog and I think it looks more like a Platypus, but so far it's been slow but lots of fun to cobble together . . . this is what I have so far . . . Hands down, it's got to be the funkiest, funny-looking rat I've worked on so far . . . or maybe it's the first signs of incoming dementia!
  11. Thanks, John, I will try to take some closer shots of the interior. Nothing fancy about it. Just some upholstery and a stickshift, that's about all the detail I put into this one. I left the bed alone thinking if I build a matching surfboard it'd go throught that rear window on the passenger side.
  12. I put this one together in the last couple of weeks. I have always wanted to shorten one of these great Hasegawa VW kits . . . and it was pretty easy. What took the longest, as you could guess, was doing the paintjob. I wanted to make this one into a mild-mannered ratty vehicle but with a bit of style. One that served two purposes: shop truck/parts runner and a weekend vehicle to cruise up and down the coast in . . . I did not go out of my way to detail too much of it, as is quite obvious. Here are some pics I hope you will enjoy: No back glass just in case the driver wants to put a surfboard in there. I guess in that case he should not have pugged the body, right? There are more pics of this build over in Cranky's Fotki archives. http://public.fotki.com/vsuarez666/voodoo-...pug-bug-pickup/
  13. I've always been a big fan of your stuff, LUKE 57. Your photographs are always a reminder of how much fun a modeler can have with not only the building process, but also photographing, photoshoping, building a backdrop for your models, etc! Well done, chap!!!
  14. Terry is right. It's an "intercoat" clear which helps preserve the different layers of graphics in progress. Actually, if anyone is interested, the tec sheets are all at the HOK main page. It's a good thing to read through them . . . just to acquaint yourself with the specifics. http://www.houseofkolor.com/
  15. Oh, man, I love this kind of eye candy. SWEET!!! Keep it going!
  16. I mix my HOK kandies (from concentrates) with SG100 and then reducer, slightly more reducer than the 2:1 ratio so that I can shoot it through my Iwata Micron C airbrush. I've never had any problems, and its the best paint system I've ever used . . . I am not patient when it comes to paint drying and this stuff dries (I use a combination of medium and fast reducers.) For heavy graphic work, I use the fast reducer.
  17. I love the stance so far!!! Keep it going.
  18. Hillbilly, that's a great ride. Man, you have the right combination of clean smooth building and some terrific painting ability, which is why it clearly looks like you are having a blast building these rides!!! Congrats.
  19. Excellent work so far. Keep it going, please.
  20. Wonderful! These vehicles always look so futuristic to me . . . they really make great subjects!
  21. It's looking great. A very exciting build. You are doing a great job of putting it together. Nice!!!
  22. Just one word: GORGEOUS!!! Congrats!
  23. Wow, it's looking beautiful. I love the color. Keep it going!
  24. It looks beautiful. Clean and smooth, and well done. Congrats.
