  1. Wow, very cool prizes, congratulations.
  2. Thanks, Danny. I am glad you like it.
  3. Thanks, everyone. Last night I made some modifications to the paint job which I think make it look a lot better. I really like it now, and again, thanks to all those who chimed in with suggestions. Mike Levallee's golden rules say "Loose to tight, dark to light!" which is a way of keeping these kinds of paint jobs going. It really helped in this case. Here are some progress pictures of where it's at now. I still have to add the BLING and the clear coat to it, but I like it so far: The shimmer of blue you see in this next pictures IS a shimmer of true blue I added to the flying embers, and to the lower rocker panels for a bit more BLING. Even without the final coats of bling and the clear, this one is already POPPING in the light.
  4. Looking good, the top turned out well, and when you weather it it's going to look even better. It's Thursday already, it's time to roll out more eye candy.
  5. John, you are right (and so is Donn Yost who is always recommending this same model) the Paasche H in particular is a wonderful airbrush kit, and very inexpensive. Single action trigger. Pull and it releases paint and air. Great atomization.
  6. It's always been one of my favorite trucks, and you've done justice to it with that color. Good work.
  7. Nice work so far.
  8. Thank you, Larry and David.
  9. Beautiful, John, and those last couple of pictures are just pure eye candy.
  10. I like it, it looks bright and hot roddy enough. Thank you.
  11. Here's the one I've been using for the last 5 years or longer, although I have an industrial sized DeWalt and another big one that gives me all the pressure I would ever need, but this one is the one of contant use. It's portable, fairly quiet, and totally reliable as it produces up to 45psi without any problems.
  12. Thanks, chaps, I appreciate the comments. You can watch an update VIDEO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsOt-Ej3vi8:
  13. Oh yeah, you are moving a great clip here, Mr. B. Some wonderful building and detailing going on. Looking forward to seeing how it will all look.
  14. I love the last three. Can you make these out of metal?
  15. Thanks, Eric . . . today I need to finish up the bling and then add the clear. And then this one will be ready for final assembly. Thanks for staying tuned in.
  16. Here are a few more: Tomorrow is another day.
  17. The paint job on this one took the whole day and heck of a lot of practice. Even though I am not entirely pleased with the scale of the licks and the flames, I do like the overall look of it . . . and tomorrow I get to finish putting all the bling and the clear. The skulls also need a little bit more detailing. My shortcomings as an airbrusher will always include the use of templates because I cannot free hand graphics. So it goes. The shine you see is from the use of the candies . . . also the Shimrin2 bling is part of a new shipment I just got. This stuff is more expensive than freakin' caviar or truffles.
  18. After the base coat, I taped up everything so we wouldn't get too much overspray. Went ahead and painted the visor and running boards . . . in Galaxie Gray, another color I like.
  19. Curtis, that's perfect. It's full of character and attitude. Excellent work! Love it, love the look.
  20. Thanks for the great tip, Paul. I actually caught myself doing it way too often today. I normally hold back. Great work on the flames. I went through a period where I was putting flames on everything, including a thermos and a flask and some Zippo lighters. It's hard to get the flame licks to look in scale because of the templates, but that's just me coming up with more excuses. LOL. Again, thanks for the help and the inspiration.
  21. Yes, I love where the cover is headed. YOu will be able to get some undulations on there and make it look raggedy. Nice, nice, nice. Yes, keep it going.
  22. If this is a rant, Bill, bring it on. I love these kinds of threads. I don't consider myself a rivet counter at all, and I am not one for much accuracy (if you don't believe me, look at some of my engines.), but I like perfection and attention to detail in others' models. I think it's a matter of taste and personal satisfaction for each builder. I admire the quality in others.
  23. Not only that, but I think most campuses in the States are now on alert for strange, out-of-the-ordinary behaviour, which I think painting a model would constitute. There are places in Art Department where you can in fact spray paint and not look out of place. But on most campuses a student with a rattle can in hand is going to be suspect. There's no need to invite that kind of scrutiny. It's best to avoid such hassles. That's just my take on it.
