  1. Get a load if the size of some of those logs. Gotta make you wonder how they cut something like that down. Especially back then! Check this one.....I count a parade of 7 trucks, and the log on the farthest one looks about as big as the closest one. One heck of a tree!!
  2. Here are some pictures of a Tamiya Yamaha XV1000 Virago I did for a friend of mine. Sadly due to a medical condition he is not able to ride motorcycles anymore, and traded his in for a Mazda Miata. I would like to do a couple of more bikes for him (if I ever find the time), as well as a model of his Miata. Anyway, stripped the kit chrome and replaced with Alclad. Paint is MM Enamel British Racing Green Metallic, the rest is OOB. Enjoy
  3. Need better pictures, haven't gotten around to taking pictures of them in the booth....so show pics will have to do. Revell USA Ferrari F430. Bear of a kit. Ferrari's are some of my favorite cars (partly probably because I know I will never own one). However after building this one, I am seriously thinking of replacing my Revell Ferrari's with some better kits. Friend of mine doing the Revell Enzo was having fit issues with it as well. I did replace all inlets and outlets for the air with metal screening, drilled the cooling holes in the disc brakes, as well as Pirelli dry transfers for the tires and Hobby Design Ferrari emblems all around. The emblems are pretty cool actually, despite the set I have that says it is supposed to be for the F430...they would work on just about any modern Ferrari, and you get enough in a package for 4-5 cars. Painted with Testor's Graphite Dust from their One Shot line. One other shot of it. This one is the Tamiya 1/24 RX-7 R1. Nothing really special done to this one, other than it was an experiment painting with Vallejo Acrylics, just to see if it would come out as well as the lacquers, and it seemed to work. The color is Vallejo Copper, over a black base coat. I tried the color out on some plastic spoons on different colored primers. White primer really brought the orange out in the color, while the grey and more so the black brought out more of the deep copper tones. So black base color it was. Use Future Floor wax as a gloss coat, and no polishing. Was pretty good to go after the Future. The picture makes it come out more orangy that it really is, but still looks good I think. Other than that, a custom license plate that I did using the ACME license plate maker and white decal paper, which of course can't be seen in this photo!
  4. Hey there guys, You know what? Whether you believe it or not.....I honestly didn't see the "Retailer's" section below. I should have scrolled a little farther. All I saw was the swap shop, and didn't see anything else, and posted here unknowingly, and I apologize for that. So, this is NOT spam.....just a mistake. Moderators, if you could please, move this to the "Retailer's" section below. Now to address some of the other comments, J. Sauber "Ok, here's the deal"?........Did Harry or Gregg suddenly "knight you" with moderator powers? Since when is your view considered the "bottom line"? Don't see Moderator status next to your name either.....so kinda the pot calling the kettle black wouldn't you say? Foxer Did you know that this is a model CAR forum? I DO realize he carries automobiles, but the links went to pages of airplane kits. I guess I was in a spam-free mood and should have just sputtered my lips to myself making airplane sounds. Yes I know this is a CAR forum....Model Car Magazine Forum kinda gave it away. Actually none of the links went directly to any airplane kits. One went to Pre-Orders, which the first item just happens to be an airplane, and the other went to New Items, which if you cared to scroll through that....you would see that I have the latest releases from Revell and AMT....sorry, I don't have any pre-orders for car kits, I offer pre-orders when my suppliers offer them to me for my customers....and I can't control which companies offer them to my suppliers....and seems Trumpeter isn't interested in doing that many car kits, the GT-40 being the first new one in a couple of years!! George 53 (supposed to be proper names on here no?) He hasn't posted any thing RELAVENT to this board, This gentleman ONLY posts items about his sales of overpriced items. Nothing Relavent, first off.....spell checkers, its spelled relevant, second of all....that is your opinion and you know what they say about opinions. As far as overpriced items, as I explained to you before, you can't compare prices from your local hobby shop, located in Michigan, or anywhere else in the US, to prices in Canada, prices on my website are in CANADIAN FUNDS.....put the US exchange in there, and I am sure it brings it closer to what they are in the US. Cross the boarder and see what the prices for kits are here in Canada, you would be quite surprised at what hobby shops are asking for their car kits, you see I know these things, because I do the research, and the price checking. Steve and Custom Hearse, thanks for the support. Again, sorry for this being in the wrong spot, it was not intentional at all...I just missed the Retailer section farther down, and I will not make the same mistake again. Model Car Magazine is carried in my shop (and not Scale Auto), and I hopefully, if I can afford it, have advertising in the magazine itself. Have to look into the cost. Thanks Scott PS: And yes I do build.....I will have to search through some of my pics and "show off" what I have built. Lots of times when I see other builds on here.....I don't think that mind measure up.....but I guess we are all our own worst critics.
  5. Hey there everyone, Some new items in at the shop, come see at : Elm City Hobbies - What's New! Also, one new item added to the Pre-Orders, and its a big one! Elm City Hobbies - Pre-Orders Top of the list....can't miss it! Thanks Scott Millican Elm City Hobbies
  6. Awfully hard to compare prices where you are in the US, to where I am in Canada. If you did happen to notice, the site is in Canada, and all the pricing is in Canadian funds. Revell kits that I am selling for $22, I dare you to find it at a Micheal's here in Canada for less than $27, ones I sell for $25, are more like $29.99 at Michaels here. Hard to compare US prices in a US hobby shop with those in CDN funds in a CDN shop. As far as high prices.....compared to most shops and the few locations (like Michael's) that actually carry models up here, my prices are actually quite reasonable, not to mention the selection I have for kits. You aren't going to walk into a Michael's and find any AMT/Round 2 kits, least not the Michael's in Canada!
  7. Hello everyone, Just want to make the announcement that Elm City Hobbies has finally gone live on the WWW. The shop has been open for about 2 1/2 years locally, and things are going well, now time to finally take the next step and get out on the Web and a much broader audience! So here is your personal invitation from me to come see the newest Hobby E-Shop in the net. We welcome your comments, so please don't be shy! Elm City Hobbies Thanks Scott Millican Elm City Hobbies
  8. While I haven't heard or seen this rumor, what I have been told by some folks at Round 2 is that all the molds are still in AMT's warehouse, and that AMT's book keeping isn't exactly up to snuff/accurate. So when going to location A, to find kit X, they end up finding kit Z, which according to records either wasn't in the warehouse, or was lost long ago. Essentially, AMT doesn't even know what they have, so it is entirely possible that they have found part of that mold....but not the rest of it. Apparently both the 1/32 Aurora Batmobile as well as the Spock figure they are coming out later this year were both surprise finds, and that there was no record of them in AMT's inventory. I too would love to see this kit. Another I would love to see again is the old Dodge Powerwagon.....but I am told that AMT modified the mold so much that it is just a former shadow of itself!
  9. Invites you to the launching of our new website. The club has been active for the past 24years, and finally we have thrust ourselves into the 21st Century!!! Located in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, we have hosted the CAMS show for 22 of those years, arguably the largest model (and best IMO...but then I am biased) show in Eastern Canada. Capital Area Modeller's Society Please take a moment to head on over and check out the site, and please let us know your thoughts and comments. Thanks for stopping by, and maybe we can convince a few more people from near and far to come to our next show being held on May 29, 2010! Thanks Scott
  10. Yeah, they are all the same car now. There are slight differences to the nose of the car (minor) to make it look a little more like the "brand" they are representing, and of course the markings fill out what looks like a different model of car, but in the end they are all the same. The engines.....again, for the most part are the same, I don't know if there is much factory backing as far as engines go, most engines being made in engine shops and not representative of a factory engine...that being said....they are all in one form or another a derivative of a small bloc Chevy.....might say Ford on the valve cover, or on the body......but in the end, the engine is based on a chevy. I wish they would go back to the good ole days and let them run a Ford, Toyota, Chevy, Mopar engine......love to see a true Hemi in a Charger/Avenger bodied car. As far as Ferrari leaving F1 over a spending cap?? Give me a break.....are they afraid that the spending cap will limit them, and bring some of the lesser teams closer to them? Sounds to me like they are afraid of a little competition!!! Mind you looking at their record this year...with no spending cap....and the fact that they are getting spanked! In the end it may bring F1 back to a "Real" race with better competition. It has been too long where if you drove McLaren or Ferrari, or your name was Schumacher that you won a race. I stopped watching F1 races back when Mansell, Prost, Senna and the boys made it exciting....F1 just doesn't have the excitement it used to....but maybe if this spending cap goes through....it will make it more exciting, making the races and competition closer, and not have the cars strung out all over the track with a half dozen passes a race.
  11. Thing is, as has already been pointed out that all the Pontiacs are just rebadged Chevys or similar.....only the Pontiac name is going away, most of the cars will live on in their original form (Chevy Aveo), or get rebadged into Buick. One of the local dealers here is a GMC, Buick, Pontiac dealer. And from what I have heard from him, his Pontiac line once sold, its replacements will essentially be the same car but with a different name on it. Yeah, maybe some of the cars will disappear, but for the most part, they will live on under another name. While I hold no ill will to the unions or the people, and I agree with making a fair wage, but when I hear auto workers being told to stay home as they have no work for them, yet they are still getting paid their salary because their contracts are negotiated that way, its not a bit of wonder that GM and Chrysler are toast.....how do you expect to stay alive when you are paying a fair amount of your workforce to stay home....and some of them making up to $70-$75/hr to sit home and do nothing? As far as imports and people getting upset that other people aren't buying "American" made cars? Most imports are made in North America, Honda, Nissan, Toyota...hell even BMWs are made in the US....so the argument for buying American made vs Imports is pretty much invalid..... It sucks that the Pontiac name is going away, and it sucked when Olds, Plymouth, etc, went away...Mercury will probably be one of the next to fall....there hasn't been a Mercury in Canada now for years.....but in the end....its just an upscale Ford.....so what is the difference? Ford Taurus....Mercury Sable......higher trim level on the Mercury? Nicer plushier interior on the Merc? Why not just have a Taurus LX with all of that extra stuff?
  12. I dunno about the older the sheet the less it sticks....I have a sheet here that I know I have had for 10 if not 15yrs that I use for masking canopies on aircraft, and it sticks just as well now, as when I bought it. I have heard that the other colors of BMF are worse for not sticking than the Chrome is....but haven't used anything else personally.
  13. Also, something else the new owners of Revell have done, or are doing, is, due to the lack of quality control with their manufacturing plants in China, they have decided to move the manufacturing back to the US. Higher labor cost = Higher Kit Costs Strange thing though......a year ago I couldn't give away a Revell '64 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt kit for $14-$15CDN.......fast forward a year, and I can't keep in stock the new '64 Ford Fairlane kit, which is the same kit, with a few new parts in it for the stock version....at $24CDN. Figure that one out!
  14. Yeah it must be just a US Ebay thing, as the Canadian Ebay site still allows me to check or uncheck the payment options of Paypal, Money Order or Cheque, and we haven't been told that we can't accept or advertise that we will take other forms of payment besides Paypal. Don't get me wrong, I too prefer Paypal, as it is much easier and quicker than a MO, but if a customer doesn't have a Paypal account, I wouldn't Fathom the thought of saying no to them because of that....not really good for business. I do only take MO's from CDN and US customers, outside of that it has to be Paypal...could you imagine waiting on a MO from Australia?? It takes long enough to ship Internationally, never mind having to wait for a MO to get here. All this will do is actually eliminate those that don't have a Paypal account. You will either have the choice to open a Paypal account, or not buy things on Ebay.....to me it seems that it will hurt Ebay in the end, as even in this day and age, there are alot of people that do not have a bank account....so by saying Paypal only, you eliminate those sales, which not only hurts the sellers, but also Ebay, as sales will be down all around. No matter how the customer pays, Ebay still gets their pound of flesh off of the fees. Granted they make even more from the Paypal fees as well, but isn't something better than nothing?
  15. I just went into my account.....and if I try to post a new auction or Ebay Store item, under "How would you like to be paid" it has 3 boxes....Paypal, MO, and Personal Cheque. So like I said....not sure where this policy came from, but sellers are able to still take money orders! I am actually looking at it right now, and there is nothing that says we can't accept Money Orders. That is unless it is a US Ebay thing....I am in Canada, so maybe the rules for Ebay.ca are different.
  16. Kinda of strange they make it policy, but still allow me to post on my auctions the ability to be paid via MO!!
  17. Since when did this take place? I sell on Ebay, (mind you Ebay.ca so maybe those rules haven't taken effect here yet), and take MOs from Canadian and US customers. I will tell you that I prefer Paypal, but will and can still take MOs.....first I have heard of it honestly!
