  1. Not the same chain that he is referring to. Hobby Lobby is a large chain of hobby stores in the US. Doubtful that the Edmonton store would take their coupons!! :D Lots of hobby shops in the Vancouver area, likely better than Hobby Lobby, so you should have no problems finding what you are looking for.
  2. Both would be cool, but my Dad had a '61 Pontiac Parisienne. which wouldn't be far off of the Catalina!
  3. I know this is an older post, but just a warning. DO NOT USE RUBBING ALCOHOL. That is unless you like a nice congealed mess in your airbrush. Vallejo paints are not alcohol based, and using alcohol to thin them will actually coagulate the paint. I whole heartily recommend Vallejo's own Airbrush Thinner to thin both the Model Color and the Model Air paints. Model color, mix about 3 parts of their thinner with 1 part paint. Model Air, while pre-thinned for airbrushing already, if you want to slightly thin it some more, about 5 parts Model Air paint to 1 part of their AB thinner. Just enough to cut the surface tension of the paint. While water will work, water literally just thins the paint out, I know that seems like what you want to do, but while it thins the paint, it also reduces the paint's ability to adhere. Their airbrush thinner is designed to work hand in hand with the paint, imparting a bit of retarder to the mixture, reducing tip dry on your airbrush, and help with adhesion to your kit.
  4. They are also doing a McLaren F1 GTR as well, which I think was either a little farther along that this Lambo, or at about the same development stage. Can't wait for both of them! Their Aventador is gorgeous!
  5. This would look good with either a Lonestar or Prostar cab on it. Who will be the first to make a conversion! Yes, there are the 3 trucks coming. 359 from Revell Germany (which will likely be a higher retail than the tow truck), the tow truck from Revell USA, and the 1/16 Kenworth from Revell USA. The way it was explained to me on pricing for Revell USA and Revell Germany kits. Revell Germany kits as a whole kit, being produced in Poland and being a Germany company, that there are more customs taxes on the "complete" kit being imported into the US, than just bags of parts being imported. The kit being a RoG kit, will still be produced in Poland at their factory, but only the bags of parts will be shipped to the US, the box, instructions and decals would then be added in the US to make a complete kit, thus avoiding excise taxes on complete kits. One has to only look at the other co-op Revell USA/RoG kits to see a big difference in price. One of the last ones was the Ferrari 599 GTO. In the US, the RoG kit was about $40, yet the same kit reboxed into a Revell USA box was about $25, and all because of some US import tax on complete kits from Germany/Poland that has probably been on the books since the end of WWII.
  6. I am surprised someone like Scale Motorsports, or KA Models hasn't come out with a PE Detail set for this kit. Not that there is anything wrong with the kit, I have one of the new re-issued ones in the stash, but just to add to some of the details. I would surely pick one up!
  7. Would have made more sense if they made this a Nov. 2013 release, as at least then it would be out before Xmas, and be a sales boon for LHS' By making it a Dec. 2013 release, that means that those shops on the Revell Preferred Partner's program (of which I am a part of), likely won't get this until just after Xmas, and won't be available for those shops that aren't part of the RPP program until probably into early 2014. Would have made much more sense to have this as part of the Nov. releases, to ensure it gets out to both RPP and non RPP shops before Xmas. Of course, release schedules aren't written in stone and it could all change at the drop of a hat, just my 2 cents.
  8. Lindberg has been on the ropes since they had a massive warehouse fire a couple of years back, loosing alot of their stock in the process, much of it ending up at discount stores for cheap. Only a win, win situation as Round 2 will now grab the ball and run with it, which is more than Lindberg has been doing lately.
  9. You could also find the colors at Scale Finishes http://www.scalefinishes.com/ While he doesn't have Petty Red listed, he may be able to source it, and if enough people were interested, he might add it to the growing list of paints he has already. He does have Petty Blue listed. I have a couple of cans of the old Testors Enamel Petty Blue spray cans from back when they were still doing the racing colors.
  10. Don, What is your source for this information?
  11. I think it is just a case that the kits being re-released now, that were originally a Monogram kit pre-merger, they are now putting the Monogram name back on. That and part marketing to get the Monogram name back out there as it is nostalgic and flicks that switch in your head that says "hey, I had/built that same kit as a kid....must buy now".
  12. It is out now in the US, but if you thought the Enzo was pricey, this one is about $150 more. Waiting to see if they do the Ferrari 288 GTO personally.
  13. As an LHS that carries the magazine, I haven't seen the December issue yet, nevermind the newest one. Seems like it takes an awful long time to ship from Colorado to Maine where my PO Box is. I know there is a parcel there now from them that arrived last week so I will have to check and see which issue it is, but if it is the Dec. issue....2 months to receive it? That is just unacceptable. Even the slowest snail mail moves faster than that.
  14. As an LHS that carries this magazine, here it is March 3rd, and I still have not received the Decemeber issue (nor the one that just came out), not sure what is up with that. Seems to be might slow shipping from Colorado to Maine where my PO Box is.
  15. Don't know about that, but I have them here, and have gotten them from both my US and Canadian suppliers, so not sure what the issue is, my guess is some LHS owner not knowing what he is talking about and drinking the koolaid that his supplier is feeding him. There are 3 suppliers in Canada that import Revell, I deal with one in Ottawa.....and no issues getting the kit. Lots on the shelf here at the shop!
  16. I picked up one of the kits, and was pleasantly surprised, as I was expecting that you could only build just the Rat Roaster from the kit, and that the only variance would be color, and wheels (with aftermarket wheels). Nice to know that the kit can be made a few different and subtle ways just using your imagination and the parts in the box.
  17. From what I was told by Hornby, there will be no "re-pops" of the old kits because the tooling doesn't exist for them anymore.
  18. I contacted Hornby as an Airfix dealer to see if the usual channels in North America that already import Airfix and Humbrol would also be carrying the Pocher brand, and they told me that yes they would expect that they would, but that it is up to the individual importer as to whether they wanted to carry the line.
  19. How about the PT Cruiser Snap kit come out in a couple of months. Not sure what they were thinking with either of these kits.
  20. If they still have a relationship with Mercedes, a 1/8 SLS AMG would be very cool
  21. I thought alot of the original Pocher molds were either lost or destroyed? If they weren't and are still intact....definitely going to massively drop the premium prices people are asking for them on Ebay!!

  23. Splitter has been gone since the end of the 2011 season
  24. Yes, but wasn't Fujimi's Aventador a curbside? Not that there is much engine detail in the Aoshima kit, but at least it isn't a blank hole or molded into the chassis. Lest this Ferrari is a full car, and no half-assed curbside.
  25. Yeah me too, I am a Ferrari hound anyway. While I do like the Porsche, I have it in 1/24. Yes in 1/12 it would be impressive, but doesn't strike me as much as if the 288 was released. The F-40....meh...I could take it or leave it, I have the Testors/Fujimi version, yeah the Tamiya one will probably go together better, maybe a bit more detailed.... Now if Trumpeter would only released the Ferrari in the background of the GT-40 box art!
