another gooodie from the past. i grafted the rear suspension from the 67 chevy kit to the monte floor pan. i scratchbuilt the "outlaw" hood....i kinda dont like it, i made it too tall! theres a ton of other scratchbuit stuff on here too..........but again, i was still learning, and it doesnt represent my best work. thanks for lookin guys bryan

here ya go james.... heres my 49 merc custom, built back in 2005. its been chopped, channeled, and sectioned. it has a tube grille, and is powered by a newer chrysler "hemi"...oh, and i "pancaked" the hood the tailights are 70 monte carlo pieces, frenched into the trunk lid. this doesnt represent my best work, but i had never chopped one up like this before....... thanks for lookin bryan

im posting it right now james, let me know what you think. this was the first merc that i ever chopped up like this. its not my best work, but its ok. it will be in "under glass" bryan

What to do about dust specks
bryan_m replied to Miatatom's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
yea there is no way to escape the dust Tom.....all ya can do is sand them out and buff it. its what i have always done with them. i got really lucky today when i shot the paint on my charger, only one tiny dirt nib, and as i was making the very last pass across the body with clear, i got a super tiny rain drop on it. besides that, i got really lucky. once sanded and buffed it will be cool tho. talk at ya later bryan -

oh man! great scratchbuilding on the turbo, looks good. nice clean white paint too...........white is hard to do, i always end up gettin a piece of fuzz from my shirt or something stuck in the clear LOL white is a magnet for that stuff. looks like you avoided it tho. keep `er goin, nice work cheers bryan

thank you for the kind words guys! i actually detailed a car today (1:1) and i just got done.....now i have to wash clothes! bummer! the clear is duplicolor acrylic lacquer, as is the metallic black, the silver and the red paint.......the conditions were just right this morning to shoot this puppy, and im really happy with the way it looks. Yes i am gonna "scuff n buff" it.....ill sand it flat and polish it out....it will be even more shiney! its been a very long time since i have done shiney, now i gotta do the rest of the small body parts, and get them all shot with paint. thats all for now, i am very tired, and worn out from workin, i might hit the bench later, but dont hold your breath............LOL thanks again guys cheers bryan

youre welcome jeff. cheers bryan

ok gentlemen, 40 minutes later it is cleared! ill let you be the judges. the temp and humidity must have been just right, cause the clear laid down like glass! i got one little dirt nib in it, and a teeny tiny drop of water, but they will sand out im sure...im happy with the results. i have lost 80 percent of the vinyl top detail, so ill have to figure out what to use to put the texture back on it...... thats all for now, i am beat for sure. need a nice long nap! thanks for lookin guys, and i appreciate the comments. cheers bryan

yea use an awl or something sharp n pointy, it works great, and the wire will slide right on there, and if ya stretch it a bit too much it usually goes right back into shape.... glad i could help, even if it was late! LOL bryan
