  4. yea im sure you could.... practice on a junk part till youre happy with it. bryan
  5. I use o-rings for steering wheels, cut the center of the steerin wheel out, and glue it in an o-ring. they come in different colors too, black, brown, green, red, blue..... looking good, i like the front suspension set up, very cool cheers bryan
  6. well, its taken me an hour and a half to mask this interior for the second color! at first i was gonna go with yellow, but im gonna use gray. what a pain it was to mask this........i hope it comes out ok. its been a while since i have done one like this, that didnt have multiple parts. being all one tub really makes it harder to mask.. time to squirt some paint.........stay tuned. thanks for lookin! bryan m
  7. oh man! very cool virgil..... bryan
  8. Very cool chuck!! cheers bryan
  9. C`mon virgil we are starving for eye candy here!! LOL bryan
  10. Dr. Cranky taught me everything i know about weathering......ive been his "apprentice" since 2005! LOL i learned alot from ken hamilton, and a few other guys as well......theyre all amazing builders! we were just talking about it on the phone, and i said ever since i started weathering stuff i have no desire to build "shiney" anymore, not that i dont like shiney, but rusty and crusty is just so much more fun for me. the only shiney builds i have done since 05 or so are ones tht cranky sent me the bodies, and i did the rest....he comes up with some wild paint schemes.... keep the truck goin! looks great! cheers Bryan M
  11. Brendan, i use the same technique on the bumpers and trim to get that "pitted rust" look. just hold the part back about 2 feet or so, and lightly dust it with dullcoat, and then hit it with rust powders, i use mig pigments, and doc obriens stuff. for heavier looking rust, shoot on some model master rust (or whatever you prefer to use) and then while it is still wet lightly sprinkle on some baking soda, let it dry, and blow off the excess. thin out your rust color (like you would do a wash) and go back over the bakin soda with it to color it, and then hit it with dullcoat again to seal it, its important to seal it or it will turn white again... lemme dig up a decent pic of a bumper i did and ill post it..... cheers bryan
  12. aaah ok, thanks Virgil!! bryan
  13. lookin good Bob! BMF is tricky on very thin trim, cut the bmf bigger that it has to be and burnish it down with a q-tip, and use a #11 blade without the handle to trim it to size. i did all the chrome trim on this caddy interior with bmf, it took me forever, but i think it came out ok. keep it goin! lookin good! cheers bryan
  14. brendan, what i usually do with the glass is mask off where the wipers would make a clean pass, and then hold it back about 3 feet and lightly shoot it with dullcoat.(very lightly) then lightly hit it with some grungy grey or brown powders... i use the same technique on chrome too, it seems to work out . keep it going, lookin good! cheers bryan
  15. very cool, this is one of my fave kits.... there is so much you can do with 32 ford pickups/coupes..ect ect. keep it going, the weathering is looking great, nice work on "z" ing the frame as well. all the 32`s i have built, and i have never z`d a frame yet, gonna have to try it on the next one. cheers! bryan

  20. Andy: yea that merc has a buick grille, hood and side trim.... i believe its a jimmy flintstone, I got it from DR CRANKY a few years ago........ Virgil, you remember where it came from?? John: thanks, i appreciate that, glad you like my sites too! my site " bryans modeling corner" still has a long way to go, i havent added anything to it for almost 2 years with the exception of the tire tutorial.... i see youre in western pa as well.........you close to me? the biggest town around me would be Uniontown.......and pittsburgh is like 30 miles from here. Virgil: thanks buddy, i think im gonna have to go with the caddy engine from the 49 merc kit on this one, ill save this ardun flatty for the next 32 ford ratrod i do...gimme a call ill be here until my son picks me up later, he just got a new job, and has to cut his hair..............which is over 3 feet of pony tail!! LOL i should have planned this build out a little better, and i wouldnt have these fit problems, but its nothing i cant fix! im at the bench this morning, gonna try to get something done before my neck and back start hurting......... i usually get 2 hours after i wake up before that starts bothering me ....... thanks again guys! cheers Bryan M
  21. no progress tonight, my back n neck arent gonna let me sit here any longer. ill try again tomorrow...... cheers bryan
  22. here i go strayin away from the project at hand........again!! LOL how about a 49 MERCOBUICK with chrysler 300 tail lights? i cut the back section of the hood off to make the cowl panel a bit wider, and hide those horrible holes for the hinges! i have to find the hood, i dont remember where i put it.........its here somewhere.... and heres the tail light pieces donated from the 300... more to come on this one later on.... i have to finish bad banana first! stay tuned! bryan
  23. thats wild! i like it! cheers bryan
  24. i made a little progress...the engine is gonna be a tight fit against the firewall.........ooopss shoulda planned that better!! did a minor mock up of the interior, with my straight pin 8 ball shifter in there! more to come! cheers Bryan
