I just sent Steve at R&R an email with several ideas for resin kits.. Here's a part of the email with the list.. Maybe if enough guys lend support to some of these, he will be kind enough to consider adding them to his catalog.. What do you think? Just looked through your Ebay auctions and your website.. I have to commend you on offering an awesome assortment of kits! However, there are several kits that are not available that you mighy want to consider producing - 1959 Chevrolet 4 door station wagon - ideally the low end Brookwood and top of the line Nomad with the Impala trim. The '59 2 door wagon would be a good place to start on these.. The 4 door Brookwood would make an awesome fire chief's car or mundane grocery getter. 1959 Chevrolet four door sedan - in any trim level - Biscayne, Bel Air or Impala. Again, a prime candidate for a fire chief's car, police car or taxi.... 1959 Chevrolet ambulance. They did make them and the Ghostbuster's ambulance may yield some good ideas as to how to modify an El Camino or two door wagon.. I see many other years of GM cars as ambulances - the '59's and '60's remain largely forgoteen though. 1960 Chevy four door wagon.. 1960 Chevy four door sedan. resin alternate grilles for your '72 Ford pickup - from '67 through '71. So what would you like to see in resin form? Feel free to add to my wish list...

1/18 1959 Impala Emblems & Seat Insert decals?

Just wondering if there is anyone out there who provides or can make the factory "V" and crossed flags for a 1/18 '59 Impala hood? I want to repaint a die cast but I will not have the hood emblem as it is a decal on the model. Does anyone produce these in resin or??? Also, is there anyone who can enlarge and produce the seat insert decals from a Monogram 1/25 plastic kit to the right size that will fit the 1/18 die casts? The die cats are less than accurate in many ways but they are all that is available and I want to make a 1/18 replica of my 1:1 convertible. ANy help will be appreciated.

Sweet!!!! I like the colour.. and I like the '62-64 pontiacs. The big cars are sadly underrated as most people seem to gravitate towards the GTO. I'll take a big Pontiac over a goat any day! I read something online earlier today that they are building a freeway in Europe - a real monster that makes the Audobon ( sp? ) look like a bush trail. I can't find the website now where I found this but the article was sort of disturbing. Evidently, this new super freeway is going to pass right through an old cemetary in which Beethovan ( the music guy ) is buried. They said in the article that everything was going fine and the graves were being dug up with no incidence until they came to Beethovan's grave. Because of the age of the graves, all digging was done by hand rather than with a machine because the graves were not all the same depth so great care had to be taken to avoid breaking the ancient caskets which were in amazingly good condition. As the workers were digging on this particular grave, they found the casket to be in above average condition given the condition of the others in the cemetary that had been unearthed. As the workers were digging, of of the workers accidentally punctured the coffin with his shovel and the men were amazed to find light eminanating from the hole in the coffin!!!! Now this is where it gets really wierd.. the workers were at first frightened but returned to their task of unearthing the coffin so it could be carefully lifted from it's resting place and moved to it's new location. The authorities were called in to determine the source of the light inside a coffin that had been buried for so many years and a court order was obtained to open the coffin. Inside, whatthey found made everyone gasp. There was Beethovein, eraser in hand, frantically erasing the musical notes off of a piece of sheet music. Many of the sheets in the casket were already blank - devoid of any markings at all and the experts quickly concluded that there was nothing to be worried about - he was just decomposing.......

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! And I am not into low riders at all - but you really did that model justice!!!! Back in the mid seventies when my wife and I dated, I drove a red with black interior '70 Catalina wagon that we still have. So I am partial to the '70 "Yaks, as we call them. That is indeed a nice build.. and the colour suits it to a "T".

I have a real soft spot for the old screw chassis annual kits and I have started trying to replace the ones that I had in the past as well as acquire some that I just happen to like. I am not really concerned about resale value of the actual dollar value of the kit as I just like what I like - because I like it. I know that I can not replace everything that I have had in the two collections that I lost, but I'm gonna give it my best shot. So what old annuals ( even newer ones that post date the scrw chassis kits ) would you really like to find at a price that you can afford or are comfortable paying? Below is a list of some that I am watching for: 1958 Ford hardtop and convertible 1959 Ford hardtop and convertible 1958-60 Edsel hardtops and convertibles 1960 mercury hardtop and convertible 1959 Pontiac hardtop and convertible 1963 pontiac hardtop and convertible 1960 Dodge hardtop 1963 Chevy Impala Craftsman molded in light brown - almost a butterscotch colour 1962 Impala hardtop and convertible 1960 Ford convertible 1967 Chevy Impala SS 427 convertible 1966 Dodge Monaco HT and a host of others... I try to make a game out of it all and see what I can buy at a price that I am happy with and if I don't get this one - then there will be another one sooner or later. So what do you think????

I'm rich, I'm rich, I'm rich!!!!
impcon replied to Junkman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
One does have to wonder if indeed some of the Ebay sellers are indeed on drugs with the asking prices for some kits and promos. If they are on drugs, then they are using cheap drugs.. they need to find another supplier and upgrade.. the delusions and fantasies apparently are not quite so wild. Don't know about that personally as I have never done drugs - period! Maybe there are people with deep pockets who want a particular kit or promo and they just buy the first thing that they see come across. As much as I love model cars, I could never live with myself if I spent $300.00 for one just to sit it on a shelf and look at it once in awhile. As with reall cars, the hunt for that elusive deal is half the fun. I limit my spending to what I feel is a reasonable amount and I have learned that if that '59 Ford annual that I want so badly sells for more than I want to pay for it - there will be another one and sooner or later, I'll get one at my price. I saw a '64 Falcon convertible that was a clean, unpainted build sell for $34.00 recently - sometimes things just slip between the cracks - a reasonable price for that car IMHO. Meanwhile, a red promo sold yesterday for $41.00 while a few days before, another one sold for in excess of $100.00. The latter was a black one which is apparently fairly scarce - but I'd be just as happy with a red one. I had already overspent my budget for models or I'd have bought the red car if it had sold for under $50.00 as I have a 1:1 red hardtop. I guess that like the real thing, these toys are only worth what ever someone is willing to pay for them. -
Cuba Cars
impcon replied to Farmboy's topic in 1:1 Reference Photos: Auto Shows, Personal vehicles (Cars and Trucks)
It sure would be interesting to know the history of those cars. I had no idea about the sale of them being forbidden.. ain't socialism great! Having said that though, I always wonder what the story of each car is - who imported it to Cuba and how did it end up where it is. I would assume that many if not most of those cars were abandoned by Americans who owned property there before the revolution as I understand that the general population of Cuba is pretty poor. I watched a movie awhile back that took place in Cuba on the night of the revolution. It was actually sad knowing that all of the glamour and all of the nice homes would fall into disrepair due to lack of materials and money. Are there wrecking yards there that specialize in American built cars? Interesting thread - hopefully it stays alive. -
Hmmmmmmmmmm.. How about - 1) '59 Chevy 4 door wagon Preferably a Brookwood or a Nomad. With the Nomad ( Impala series in '59 ), you could use a ton of stuff from the Monogram '59 Impalas 2) '67 Fairlane convertible - make it a Fairlane 500 and a conversion to an XL, GT or GTA would be easy - just remove the body side moldings and add decals 3) '67 Ranchero with Fairlane 500 trim - again,, to convert to an XL, GT or GTA would mean removing the side trim 4) '65 Dodge Monaco 5) '66 Dodge Monaco - have you seen what those things sell for on Ebay? 6) 1973 thru 79 Ford F 150 Super Cab pickup 7) 1967 Ford F100 Pickup in 2 wheel and four wheel drive 8) '68 - 72 Ford F-150 2 wheel drive pickups and a conversion kit to build a 4x4 9) '75-78 Plymouth Gran Fury in 2 door and 4 door - many were used as police cruisers - also a Gran Fury wagon of that make and vintage 10) '75-78 Dodge Royal Monaco sedan, hardtop and wagon 11) 89 Style Ford Crown Victoria in police and civilian trim with the landau roof 12) 1973 - 80 Chevrolet and GMC Suburbans 13) 1964 - 66 Chevy or GMC Suburbans 14) 1949-50 style Ford panel trucks 15) 1947 - 53 Chevy or GMC Suburbans and panel trucks 16) 1940's - 50's style milk truck conversion for the Chevy and GMC and Ford kits that are available Parts 1) A really decent and proper Bud style wheels for a one ton truck 2) A nice Holmes style wrecker body for a one ton - ideally a twin boom with swing out booms. 3) Grille conversions for '67 - 72 Ford trucks to accomodate the never produced trucks themselves that I mentioned above 4) 1973-80 Chevrolet grille conversions 5) long wide box with tailgate for 1960-66 Chevy/GMC pickups 6) A decent school bus conversion - 1940's thru '60's style How's that for starters?

I keep coming back to look at the pictures.. that truck is amazing! I worked in the forest industry for almost 30 years and I saw my share of logging trucks and this is really a very accurate depiction of one. I am really curious though - how long did it take you to build it from the start to where you can say that it is finished? It had to be hundreds of hours. Again, your workmanship is incredible!

I too love the old kits - mind you, I like almost anything old - including people. I scooped an old AMT Craftsman '59 Impala convertible kit a few years ago on Ebay. It came with the box and I was the only bidder at $20.00 plus shipping! Needless to say, I was a happy guy! It was painted a sort of an emerald green - rather decently done - and I have chosen to leave it just like I got it. The car is undamaged and complete and being as the '59 Chevy is my all time favorite car, I really treasure this kit. I could post a pic of it if anyone wanted.. I don't want to seem like I am trying to hijack this thread so I refrained. I am looking forward to seeing what you do with your car. When I was building regularly, I loved to take something like your model - something that had been built long ago and kind of messed up - and taking it apart and redoing it. To me, it was always much more gratifying then building a box fresh kit. Sounds weird I know.. but that's just the way it is.

Hi all! Does anyone know if there is going to be a model car swap meet in the Vancouver, B.C. area this year? It was canceled last year.. and I can't seem to find any information on if there will be one this year or not. Any help will be really appreciated. Thanks.

I am wondering if there is a list of resin model casters out there somewhere that gives the buyer some sort of grading as to the quality of product and service? Given the cost of resin kits, I cannot afford to gamble that what I order will be a decent product so I do hesitate often on buying something that really strikes my fancy. I have bought in the past and gotten something that it would take a magician to make anything close to decent of. I'd like to suggest that there should maybe be a place on this site or a sticky on this forum with such a list. I know that I am not alone in my thoughts on this.. Please consider it and if you agree, post your thoughts in a follow up post. Thank you in advance.

I like utility vehicles and I would love to get my hands on a couple of '73-80 Suburban models to build in tribute to the two that we have owned and that served us so faithfully. I know that there is a resin '81 or newer.. but does anyone make or is anyone planning on making the older version with the square front fenders. I have been thinking of trying to build one from a Blazer or Jimmy kit but I am not that creative. Hopefully there are others out there who share my affection for these rigs.
