new guy on board
Daniel Peterson replied to hairy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Welcome to the neighborhood! I'm sure I'm not the only one looking forward to seeing some of your work! -
That is simply gorgeous! I never got into building the open-wheel cars for some reason, but I have always loved seeing others go to town on them.

Silent Traffic Meeting pics
Daniel Peterson replied to Daniel Peterson's topic in Model Club News and Announcements
I don't know who came up with it originally, but it was an absolute stroke of genius. -
Some neat stuff, as always... And the rest here...http://public.fotki.com/DanielP/scale_auto...t-traffic---ja/

4 day project? For me that's gluing the engine halves together. Looks like it was a lot of fun! Turned out pretty neat, too! Maybe I can see it in person after my 6 hour drive to Greenbelt from Winston-Salem on the 20th...

passing on ........
Daniel Peterson replied to bob paeth's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Sorry to hear about his passing. Sounds as if he was a true character in the hobby. Perhaps you want to send something about his collection and involvement in the hobby to Mark Gustavson at The Museum? Just a thought. -
I picked up a Tamiya Mustang GT coupe/convertible kit (94-ish model, me thinks) that has the 3 spoke factory mags. Not having built many Tamiya kits, I was wondering if anybody can steer me toward some cool aftermarket/other kit wheels that will attach without modification? There are scads of wheels out there, but I'm wondering if there are any that attach in a similar manner to the Tamiya wheels. Ideas are all I'm looking for at this point. Maybe there's an eventual trade in my future, but for now just seeking some schooling. Thanks!!

I can look around to see if I have one. I don't possess scanning technology, but if I have a parts list, it's yours. -
'57 Bel Air : 60's Style Drag Machine Complete 1/10/07
Daniel Peterson replied to Casey429's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Yup. That's a winner! The two-tone is sharp, and your detail work on the trim is nicely done. Take a bow, man! Color looks eerily familiar to me...which Duplicolor is it? -
Nothing there not to like! Beeeeyouteefull!

From Junker to Jewel!!! 1-9-07 Finished
Daniel Peterson replied to Mj-Styro's topic in WIP: Model Cars
MJ...I finally figured out what that stands for. The Model reJuvinator! That was a stretch, I know...but it's been a rough week already. -
32 Ford... Do you think this is too subtle? Update 3/15/07
Daniel Peterson replied to Steve H.'s topic in WIP: Model Cars
Wait! Brian, you're being too generous and selfless! Let ME take it off his hands. Everybody sees this thing is just a mess. Best thing to do is send it to ME instead. That way, I can finish it exactly the way Steve was planning, and nobody will think it unusual, what with me being a little wierd anyway. It's best for everybody, to do it my way. I'm just trying to be there for you guys... -
32 Ford... Do you think this is too subtle? Update 3/15/07
Daniel Peterson replied to Steve H.'s topic in WIP: Model Cars
Patience and tolerance...patience and tolerance... The car looks good so far. Every time I see the hot rods you guys are putting together, I feel like cracking open a kit and trying my hand at it. Then I see the end result of your efforts and crawl into a corner, curl into a fetal position and sob uncontrollably. So, for now at least, I'll remain an very interested observer...finish some other projects, and then muster the courage to "get my hot rod on"... -
Lookin' good!!

Model Car Club Sit Down
Daniel Peterson replied to Bob Doebley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Randy, I know Bob...and you really don't need (or want) to know  what he looks like any sooner than absolutely necessary. He will find you. That's what he does. He doesn't feel pain...he doesn't sleep...wait, this is starting to sound like Terminator dialog. That's what he is! The Doeblinator!! The Philly boys I've met - Bob included - are great people. They've gone so far as to invite me to meetings, even after getting to know me! So maybe they aren't great judges of character, but they do know how to have fun and enjoy the hobby. I am really hopeful I can make it to their little open house thing. Should be a blast. -

I had faith in ya the whole time. That is super sonic blue!! -
Well, for being 45, I think I like it. Don't be too modest about your work...ever notice how Geary cringes when you walk in to a meeting? He's hearing footsteps, dude!

1969 Barracuda update 1/2/07...Rumblefish is ready
Daniel Peterson replied to Daniel Peterson's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Kinda simple, actually. Catch up with me Saturday...or of you can't wait, go here (http://www.acme.com/licensemaker/) and try a few. Save the images you create, size to scale and print them off on heavy bond or photo paper. -

That's outstanding! Looks as well engineered as it good looking!

Finally...now on to a couple other projects. I'm going to try to close the gap on some projects that are almost done, along with getting up to my elbows in one project in particular that I've been dogging it on for wayyyyy too long.

1969 Barracuda update 1/2/07...Rumblefish is ready
Daniel Peterson replied to Daniel Peterson's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Something fishy this way comes... Aside from some last bits of clean up (scripts and some of the foil work, and the upper radiator hose) and detailing, here she be. I am not as pleased with the final result as I'd hoped, but I guess that comes with having your nose in a project and seeing all the things that just aren't dead nuts on. This photo says it all, though, representing what I would consider a "real" street car. Mild custom touches, drivable ride height, common sense tire sizes and just enough rake (apologies to Irv for the nose being so high) to make it look a little nasty. This really isn't what I'd call a great kit, what with vague fitment of some things and iffy engraving here and there, but it is a kit of a great subject. And overall, the age of this tool is such that any shortcomings are still tolerable. It builds up rather nicely, and to be fair, most of the problems I had are the result of aging eyes and inadequate lighting at my bench. Hope you guys think it was worth the march through the progress shots. -
Leave us not taint the accomplishments of this wizard with sophomoric barbs attacking my thoroughly documented failure. Doing so casts a pall of shame upon the house of Fowler as it readily as it does my own! (So there! Nyah!)
