  1. Here are some photos from the Silent Traffic meeting on the 13th. I was fiddling with a new camera, so it appears I still have some adjusting to do to get used to it. And the rest are here: http://public.fotki.com/DanielP/scale_auto...t-traffic---oc/
  2. Here's a really wacky thought that I wish I could have shared before you painted the body... Given the creative engine treatment, a subtle clue of what lay underneath would have been to remove the one power bulge on the driver side, since the air intake is more to the passenger side. One side flat, one side as original. It'd get stares, for sure! By the way, I love what you did with the engine!!
  3. Or anyone who knows his current computer status. I am getting e-mail bouncebacks on the address I've formerly used with success. I know he's in the process of settling into the new Casa de Geary, and wonder if he's had to go to a different service. Anyone? Bueller?
  4. Now that's cool! Whodathunkit!?
  5. The Central Pennsylvania Model Car Club had/had a professionally designed web site (www.cpmcc.org) that is maintained by a former club member who has gone into "run silent, run deep" mode, primarily, I believe, as a result of personal matters getting the upper hand on him. The server periodicallly crashes, and I am only blessed with the ability to modify and update certain elements. I am unable to update or import newsletters or photos. I can however update all the simple content like calendar events, FAQs, etc. We could use some assistance creating a new site from someone of a highly charitable nature who is skilled in the black art of web design. As much as we love the site we have, we are unable to promote, advertise or rely on it because of the aforementioned issues. We have tried to secure ownership of the domain name, but failed in our efforts thus far. I have considered using freewebs and paying for the upgrade out of my own pocket, but I think the club deserves something more polished than my skill sets can support. Thoughts? Suggestions? The site (if it is up) is exactly what we wanted in a web presence, so it's features would give anyone able to help us a good gauge of what we are looking for on our next effort. If interested or able, please e-mail me to discuss. Thanks in advance, and apologies for the shameless begging.
  6. Finally! A quiet guy from the Philly club! There had to be one in there somewhere. Welcome to the forum!
  7. Geez, Arter...that's one sweet Mercury. I guess I'll be contacting you later about a feature in the CPMCC newsletter, huh?
  8. Outstanding! You would have loved the Earnhardt (Sr) build-up I saw at an IPMS show a few years back...it was the #3 doing a celebratory doughnut in the grass at Daytona. Among other touches, the rear tires' lettering was blurred giving the very realistic illusion of motion. The detail on the model (much like yours) was amazing! Great job!
  9. Thanks for posting the link Lyle! Looks like everybody had a fantastic time in Ohio. What a mind-numbing bunch of models! Yikes!
  10. Don't apologize for the paint scheme. In all candor, it doesn't look as much like flames as much as it looks like a pattern that'd appear in nature on a reptile or bug of some sort, and it looks great!!!
  11. Wow...and they say I ruin a neighborhood. Welcom the Forum, man! Good to have ya round! Ahem...I don 't recall seeing you at the Showdown. Did you not attend?
  12. Lyle! Don't do it! It's a trap! Seriously, I am constantly amazed at what you do on the bench. Muscle cars, street rods, factory stock, street machines...and now you're gettin' your groove on with the choppers. All of it outstanding. All of it impressive. All of it very creative. Yikes!
  13. Ummm...uh, would you believe we wanted to spruce up the joint a little before asking you over? Yeah, that's it. We'll go with that. We wanted it to be nice enough for you first.
  14. Mark it on your calendar now...September 16th, 2007 from 9-2. I haven't spoken to any of the club officers about it yet, but I'm hoping to add 2 more classes and I have some ideas pinging around in my head for next year's theme. This year's theme (Long Roof Cars) was a boffo success, with participation second only to "Factory Stock 1950 and later" which is always the "monster" class at our show.
  15. Central Pennsylvania Model Car Club We are a club with a rich 20 year history, catering primarily to the styrene and resin building crowd. Meetings are the first Saturday of every month in Mt Wolf PA and start somewhere in the area of 11AM. Members are drawn from the eastern part of the Commonwealth, Maryland and New York. Our ranks include folks with national exposure, and plenty of quality builders who maintain a lower profile. We welcome Juniors and adult hobbyists of any skill level. We are between web sites right now, but information on the club can be found at my freewebs site, which also includes the most recent club newsletters. General inquiries about the club can be sent to centralpmcc@hotmail.com or to my e-mail address.
  16. Thanks for the photo coverage Lyle! 351 models up (up 16% from last year) on the table, about 160 paid attendees through the door. Not a huge show by many standards, but a nice afternoon. Participation was excellent, as were the models entered. Oh, and Lyle managed to walk away with some recognition of his own work, too.
  17. "Beautiful" doesn't quite cut it, but that's as much as I can muster on a foggy (me, as well as the weather) Saturday morning. Nicely done so far!
  18. Actually, it's looking like a chance of rain...so we're good.
  19. Please tell me you're bringing that to the show Sunday!!! The theme is long roof cars, and that fits the bill nicely!
  20. Sunday Sunday, Sunday!! It's just around the corner, guys! And Gilbertsville is so nice this time of year! In addition to the contest and vendors, there'll be a make and take (depending on interest day of the show) and door prizes pretty much all day. A major vendor has told me he's bringing scads of not so current kits at absolute madness  pricing to clear out his excess stock! Sounds like an opportunity to me, guys! If you're in the area, check us out!
  21. Cruz is in the house!!! Glad you're here!
  22. Thanks for posting these. I have made the show almost every year for about the last 10. Missed it this year due to a wicked sick work schedule. nice pics!!
  23. Another great job, John! I like the progress shots...they remind me of what it was like to build something.
  24. Lookin' slick so far. Nice touch with the fuel filler and exhaust. What do you think about a taper cut on the exhaust tips that matches the slope of the deck lid? I like it as is, but the voices in my head were discussing it and I overheard them. Keep goin', man!
  25. I'm no expert, but aftermarket window tint goes on the inside, so why not follow the same logic? The few windows I've tinted, I did on the inside, mostly because I wanted to preserve the bare plastic finish on the exterior for waxing/polishing. A properly tinted window with the outer surfaces polished looks fantastic.
