  1. Man, I can't wait to see where this goes. A warped mind is the hobbyists greatest tool!! Oh, and I mean that in the most complimentary way!
  2. Nicely done. I've never particulalry favored low-riders, but of what I've seen, old-skool style works for me. You did a really nice job on this one!
  3. Both yours and Ned's entries looked good in photos, but both were simply knockouts in person! Great workmanship, both of you!
  4. Looks great so far!! Nice work!
  5. There's a legend at the bottom of the category page that explains them. I didn't catch on right away either.
  6. Nicely done. That body style makes a darned pretty ragtop!
  7. From what I can tell, you are off to a great start. A suggestion for you...build to your own abilities, but keep building, and keep trying something new or try to refine a technique with each project. Remember, it's a hobby. Build for fun, and you'll be surprised how soon you hone your skills...without trying all that hard! If you think about it, each attempt (and include the failures) is a step forward. Nobody here is expecting perfection. Even the guys who are the real stars of the hobby will tell you things about their latest builds that they think they could have done better given another chance. I think this is the perfect time for Billy to chime in with some words of encouragement...a lot of us have watched him evolve from brush paint jobs and no real detailing to some later efforts that are really extrmely well done on a number of levels. Practice, man, and observe!
  8. That's an outstanding bit of finish work there! Very nicely done!!
  9. Too bad you're so far away...the theme for our club contest this September is Long Roof Cars, and I think it would turn a lot of heads! Great execution on the overall project.
  10. Boy, am I glad to see you here. For those who do not know him, this fellow has quite a talent for making the simple sublime, so when he talks about warmed over OOB builds, and putting his own touches to it, that means a smidge more than you might think. Like I said, it is great that he found us. What a welcome addition to this crew! I'm looking forward to the first photos. Oh, and Yad'...I was unaware you suffered an accident. I hope the recovery is progressing well. The sooner you get back to the workbench, the better I'll, er, that is the better you'll feel.
  11. Hey! I'm here, too, ya know!
  12. He could move to Pennsylvania. The July/August humidity would squash any homesickness for the islands...
  13. That is simply outstanding craftsmanship. The closer I look, the more I see. You really have a gift for capturing the subtle details. Very impressive, Peter.
  14. These were probably rolling off the assembly line when I was born, about a month before you were.
  15. Maybe they have caller ID.
  16. It's behavior like this that reminds me why I like the people in this hobby so stinkin' much. The air might be a little thinner when you take the high road, but you meet nicer people there. Thanks Tom. I hope the rest of the crew here appreciates you poking your head in and saying howdy as much as I do.
  17. Oustanding stuff! I hope to find the time to look at all of them sometime this week.
  18. It was the 1/20 kit. I didn't even paint the wheels for the most part. I just held a paint brush dipped in silver paint in place while I spun the wheel on a cordless drill to highlight the rim.
  19. All kidding aside, I can also tell you that Honda is an outstanding kit. I gotta take some decent shots of this one...I actually did a nice enough job to want to see it!
  20. I had trouble seeing anything but URL in your original message...but then in my reply I removed the text after ".jpg" in each one. Anyone else have that problem?
  21. I heard on CNN that the Daytona kits were infected with a particularly incidious strain of avian flu during the trip from Asia. They call it General Tso's Chicken fru, er...flu and it is VERY contagious. I suggest you wok, no run to the post office right now and mail it to me for disinfection. I and my trusty lab assistant, nurse Geary, will then see it is disposed of properly. I'm only thinking of you and your family's safety.
