  1. I've used CSC and Purple Power on glass with no ill effects
  2. VW Dave

    Blue Bug

Very clean build of one of my favorite kits!
  3. Cool, were those shot at the museum in NC?
  4. Very different, and I like what I see
  5. ....and I'm guessing you can't quote his reply here because this is a family show?
  6. I'm not afraid to offer international shipping on my Ebay items, but I have specified a handful of countries I will not ship to(like Nigeria, home of internet scams). Once an item I ship leaves the hands of the USPS, I make it clear that tracking doesn't apply.
  7. I saw that body at the NNL East, and it is pretty nice for the price....but you folks really-really should see Motor City Resin Casters' chopped Olds..............
  8. You're not exactly 'over the hill' at 40, but you have a great view....
  9. That's how I did it too
  10. Clear enamel is the culprit, and I no longer use it
  11. Beautiful work.....good on ya, mate!
  12. High 70s, clear blue skies and low humidity the past few days....too nice to build models, I've been out in the Manx
  13. Mica red is a fine metallic, while OE VW Tornado red is not...but the mica will look good on it with those BBS's regardless. Jason's right as well, the VW badge on all the Mk2 GTIs were black, while the standard Golfs had chrome ones
  14. Love it!
  15. Finally found the time to get mine uploaded; thanks for looking: http://public.fotki.com/vwdave/model_car_shows_/27th-annual-nnl-east/
  16. Love it, especially the redlines
  17. Nice job on a very difficult kit!
  18. Great work! I've started a very similar color combo on my '50 Olds too; for the roof, I'm using a non-metallic color from Testors' lacquer line: Phonecian yellow(pretty sure it's a Ford color).
  19. If you want to do it shut, the part from the Polar Lights "Herbie" would be excellent...flatten it with a little heat and it oughta fit like a glove. To do an open version, I used MCG self-stick vinyl top material on the '56 beetle I did for my friends(a replica of their real sunroof '56):
  20. I picked up a half dozen cans of Tamiya spray paints from a little local 'boutique' hobby shop that's closing their doors....didn't even know they did model stuff until a buddy popped in last week.....everything is 50% off, so the sprays were $3.25 each.
  21. x2 The Gunze kit isn't bad, albeit a curbside, as you can build it as a convertible OOB....correctly fitting the hardtop 'option' is pretty difficult, as the roof is molded as one clear piece with the rear and quarter glass. Given the choice between the two, I'd do the Tamiya in a heartbeat.

  23. Ummmm.....no, they don't
  24. Looking great so far, and I'm looking forward to more updates. That's one of my favorite kits!
