  1. I was thinking the very same thing. For $12K, I'd certainly expect larger pics....and a lot more of them. Nice model, yes, but IMO the seller is nuckin' futs.
  2. Can't say why, but I voted 'model' this time around.
  3. Our local auto museum has one of those replicas, and I've been told by staff members that there are indeed no originals in existence.
  4. Doc - I'm not sure on the limit thing. I use Fotki to host all my photos. I'm really hoping to see more of your work here on MCM, and I agree that the Vortex is quite sluggish. IMO 99% of the 'models' people there swoon over are mega-dollar diecasts, and they hold very little interest to me. The metal transfer in the Tamiya kit is a little fiddly, but über-nice; I've used them on two other models besides the Tamiya '66. You really need to see the emblems in Tamiya's Ghia coupe kit. Speaking of the Vortex and our identities over there........I'll give you a hint as to mine.
  5. Fotki is another photo hosting option, Chris, and you can get the 'basic' membership for free. Don't give up and bail out too easily.......I wanna see that Charger!
  6. If that's the 50's-60's, that Delorean is really a time machine after all.
  7. Testors "DullCote" spray is my old favorite for making shiny paint not-so-shiny; I hope that helps.
  8. Looking good, Doc; please keep us posted as you get more done. Those pics look familiar.....you are also on VW Vortex, correct?
  9. Had to go with 'real' this time.....yep, real.
  10. I've been on my back under many aircoolers(most far from that tidy), and that looks amazing!!
  11. I never met him personally, but I had crossed paths with him on one forum or another over the years; his work and love for the hobby is well-known by all. God speed, Bob.
  12. Happy birthday, Bill! Many happy returns as well
  13. If the area being glued is purely structural, I've found that sprinkling baking soda on wet CA makes for quite a strong bond; it crystalizes almost immediately, and sets up in an instant. You can sand or grind the material after drying, but I cannot stress enough the importance of eye protection and some sort of mask or respirator - those CA fumes and debris can be nasty!!
  14. I'll be 38 just before Christmas this year, and except for minor seasonal/motivational breaks over the years, I've been at it since about age 7. My mom and one older brother got me into it way back when, and both are still enthusiastic; he still builds on rare occasions, but she has yet to get back at it(she has a stash of 5 or 6 unbuilts & about 5 built-ups). My wife is a scrapbooker, so neither of us can throw stones about how much space and $$ each other's hobbies consume....I got her into building a few years back, and she has one finished model - with about 4 more waiting for attention.
  15. Looks like ICMF has gone 'M.I.A.' I've tried to reach him several times via PM to send the 356 body, but he seems to have vanished.
  16. I'm kinda having second thoughts, but I voted 'model.'
  17. Just under 3 weeks, figured this one needed a friendly bump.
  18. I'm liking that color combo so far....quit teasin' us an pull the tape off already.
  19. Streak, schmeak......I'm really hit-or-miss on these. I said 'real' this time.
  20. Two-tone....how about four? Tamiya's 6mm masking tape is my new best friend
  21. The nun harrassment was enough for me to confirm my suspicions An old favorite of mine! OK, here's one from my memory banks - "Here's the story: Two brothers; one speaks no English at all, the other learned to speak it watching Wide World of Sports. Now you tell me which is worse - speaking no English at all, or speaking Howard Cosell?"
  22. Very cool build, and it sounds like you enjoyed every minute of it.
  23. Call it a hunch, speculation, what have you....but I say 'real.' It looks full-size to me.
