  1. Very nice builds, thanks for posting them. They bring back lots of good memories. My brother and I had these kits, his was the Mongoose and mine was the Snake. I recently read an article on them and what a huge effect they had on the whole funny car sponsorship scene.
  2. The dirt track tires really set it off!
  3. "Sweet at any Speed"
  4. Excellent paint. Also the body panel lines are just right, not overdone.
  5. Where did you learn your weathering techniques? Maybe you could do a tutorial sometime. They look great, you could make a great "barn find" diorama.
  6. How about some details on how you did that slick paint job? Maybe a mini-tutorial?
  7. I think it looks good just as it is. Sure wish I had a 1:1 Deuce with that Olds engine...
  8. But can it take Mad Max and his Interceptor?
  9. An awesome job. The paint and overall finish is great. And the driver looks like "Tattoo" from Fantasy Island!
  10. Looks like a wheelie monster!
  11. Notice the Tennessee license plate - the original car that was used for the kit design was in Tellico Plains, in Monroe county. The old fellow had quite a collection of rare cars from what I heard.
  12. I remember reading once that the Firebird Jim Garner drove had been "modified", and that he used to outrun the camera helicopter for fun.
  13. John, you forgot to include the pictures of your model! That is just too awesome.
  14. Awesome job! It looks just like the picture, except cleaner!
  15. When I was a kid, my hero was Joe Lee Johnson (the same guy who won the first World 600 at Charlotte). He drove a yellow Camaro, number J-8, at Cleveland Speedway in Saturday night dirt track races in the early '70's. For many years I promised myself I'd build a model of his car. Your Camaro looks like a perfect starting point for that car. I can't find any pictures, but if I do I'll post them here.
  16. I remember building that kit as a kid, and my brother building the "Mongoose". Didn't it come with a t-shirt iron-on?
  17. When I was in high school I kept most of my models in a Timex watch display case. It was lighted, and rotated every so often. It was the envy of all my friends.
  18. I had one the same color when I was in high school. I only wish it were an SS and that nice. Great job on the build.
  19. I like it! I drive a '93 Civic Hatch with a B16, and you've captured "the JDM look" perfectly! The other car looks cool too. If you put a kayak on the roof it would look like the river rats' cars I see here on the Ocoee river.
  20. Where did you get the Honda Civic EG in picture 28?
  21. "(I recently drove a Hemi Challenger without PS and it was not hard to steer at all, lol)" I can imagine with a Hemi that you could unweight the front end pretty easily.
  22. My first model car was a Ford Galaxie 500 with mutipiece body. As I remember, it had the complete interior molded into the body and I had to glue the sides and top onto it. I left it mostly white, but used a magic marker to put a big "Iron Cross" on the roof! I was 5 at the time. My inspiration was my cousin, who built everything from cars to planes to ships and who finally got tired of me breaking his models every time I'd visit. He took me to the store and bought me one so I'd leave his kits alone! I think about him every time I start a new kit. Thanks, Mikey!
  23. Very cool model and looking awesome with that color and those wheels. I had a 1:1 '68 Falcon with a 351C/C6 with Hurst ratchet shifter, Mustang front discs and seats, and big and little Weld wheels. It was an awesome little car and I really hated to sell it. I've since found two resin bodies and am building two different ways - one with a modern EFI engine and one with a '70's style 428. Yours looks great, I'll try to post pictures of mine when they get finished.
  24. I hope you're planning to leave the hood just like that.
  25. Looks a lot like my ride! I wish mine was rolling on those wheels.
