thanks for the kind words george. im trying to break out of the blue oval, but theres so many cars to do there. funny thing is, i started out as a mopar fan. i mean back when you could actually buy a hemi car and not have to get it from barrett jackson. altho i did just finish a non ford. its almost a mopar. i'll post some pics later today.

during the day i usually listen to talk radio, but i do intersperse music often. anywhere from alice cooper to Zappa, with heavy emphasis on celtic/bagpipes...no kiddin....really really drives the neighbors crazy. theyre really gonna be happy when i finally get a set of pipes and try to learn em....

and theres always the correct mesurement, then theres what looks right to the eye. when i did my ranchero, i had a 1;1 in the driveway. i fabbed up the side windows to the correct numbers. it didnt look even remotely right. sometimes ya gotta go with what looks right, not what is right. but try tellin that to the rivet counters...... -

thanks for all the info. so what it looks like is.i take all my prodigious math skills, and whip out my trusty tape measure and go find me a 1;1 . actually, all this stuff will help... -

ah.. but theres the rub. the only simple math i know is how to spell "simple math". even then i need spell check. i guess i'll dig thru my old sae's and find the artice. the formula was in there. -

i guess i asked the question incorrectly. i know theres no magic wand to wave, ive already tried that and got kicked outta the harry potter convention. i remember a SAE artice years ago where they had a pic of a truck. they knew the wheel was X number of inches.. they then used a formula to figgure out the rest of the dimensions. that way if i know the wheelbase, or head lamp size, or what ever, i could sus out the rest. it dosent have to be in scale, just be able to find the numbers in inches or mm. i really dont need blueprints per se, just the measurements overlayed on a pic. i was fairly sure you just couldnt scan a pic then convert it to prints, that would be waay to easy. -
is there a computer program out where i could scan a pic of a car, then produce 1/25th blueprints from? im gettin frustrated trying to find 1;1 cars to throw a tape measure on so i can make masters. or even something where if i have a pic, with one item of a known dimension i could extrapolate the rest of the dimensions? keep in mind, im really really stupid, and im a resincaster( terms are redundant). so therefore i have no cash to buy $700 worth of software, or the brains to run something complicated. dont ask for much do i?

STOLEN MODEL ALERT........
jeffb replied to Jeff Sauber's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
years ago, i had two of my best builds stolen from a display case at the lhs. probably was a kid cause they left several body panels behind. the store is located along a major road, i wouldnt be suprised if they were just tossed into traffic. ive never put anything in a display since. -
i copied arts metro delivery truck, (with arts permission). i have a couple others im going to do, and i know another caster who has a few too. imitation if a best form of flattery.

no problem ryan. i resin cast for a living, and i like for our customers to have as much info as possible. that way they can spend their hard earned money without fear of getting a crappy product. when a modeler gets a junk resin piece, it makes them leary of buying resin again.
-
yes, this did start out as a fastback,(what else could i use?). and yes, the 1/4 does look like it slops down. but thats more in the camera than the body. i'll cast up another one and take better picks. always keep in mind, resin masters are usually made by hand, not on a machine (altho that too is changing) so if your lookin for perfect duplicate of a 1;1, a resin kit probably wont measure up.

hope this isnt the one you find questionable... and missing links 68 aint too shabby either..
