15-20% flow enhancer, 10-15% reducer.

started to work with Auto Air colors years ago. Learning curve was steep but the introduction of Createx‘ 4030 made life easier. I shoot it through my H&S Evolution 0,4 mm nozzle with 25 psi although 0,6 mm nozzle seems to work a bit better. One recommendation as indicated also in the videos, try to let the paint sit for about 10 minutes after mixing with 4030 flow enhancer and 4012 reducer.

I have good experiences with MT Washi Tape. Probably the same brand as Tamiya tape (Kamoi Kakoshi) but a lot cheaper. Fits into the Tamiya dispenser as well.

Does somebody know a source for a hardtop which fits to Revells '58 Corvette? I know that Revells '59 kit includes a hardtop but this is nearly impossible to get here in Europe - at least not for a realistic price. Thanks Harald

Thank you all for your feedback. I used Tamiya semigloss black paint thinned roughly 1:5 with Tamiya thinner. It had to be applied two times because it does not adhere very good to the chrome. A cotton swab was used to remove the excess paint. When I looked at the Falcon prototype grill I recognized that every second horizontal bar has some black paint right beneath the vertical bars. You can see it here. I cut Tamiya masking tape to the appropriate width, applied it centered between the vertical bars and painted every second horizontal bar with unthinned semigloss black. There weren't any issues with this kit. Nearly no moldlines on the body nor flash on the parts. Only the front grill was a bit tricky to install and I guess I have to redo it because it has to be placed more into the body. I did not need to glue the chassis to the body because it fits perfectly. In general all the sprues are very well packaged and in particular the clear and chrome parts have been foam protected. It comes with two engine options, two set of rims and two different exhaust types. I know of a discussion - I remember here in the forum - that the kit is not 100% comparable to the prototype. But that didn't bother me because I never saw a real Falcon in my life ;-) Cheers Harald

After receiving such a warm welcome as I presented my first model in this thread I decided to present my second one. The model kit is the Trumpeter Falcon Sprint of 1964: The kit went together very well. Only the chrome of the bumpers had some flaws. So I decided to de-chrome them, gave them a shot with Testors enamel glossy black and applied Alclad Chrome. I followed the first time the 'Donn Yost' method for airbrushing this model and I have to say that Donn made my day It came out without any orange peel and there was absolutely no need for any clear coat. Only two or three dust particles had to be polished out. The color choice was Testor's bright yellow. I replaced the kit's wheels with wheels from Scale Production and added some disc brakes. The front was lowered so that a horizontal stance could be achieved. Cheers Harald

No problems with warping. I have another one in my stash and there is no warping either.

Thank you all for the great feedback. This encourages me to finish my other projects as well. I used narrow masking tape which I lay down first - the distance to edge of the trunk lid and the rear panel was eyeballed. It's 3M tape which is thicker than Tamiya tape. Then I applied the BMF and cut the foil using the ridge/shoulder of the masking tape as a guide. Tamiya masking tape cut to the width which fits the GM Seat belt hardware made by Model Car Garage. Just want to show my first finished model after not being in this hobby for 20 years. Model Kit is this one: It has been painted with Porsche Turquoise Green Metallic from Zero Paints followed by a 2-part clearcoat from Standox. Interior was airbrushed with self-mixed greens (Vallejo colors). Carpets were flocked and seat belts created with PE parts from Model Car Garage with Tamiya masking tape. Cheers Harald
