  3. ..See "on the workbench" post for progress photos.. I can't decide on chicken lights for this.. so for now it is finished. Scratchbuilt hood and sleeper. Italeri 378 base kit. This was an enjoyable build. I wanted to see what I could do to the 378 kit. Parts: Italeri 378 Revell 359 horns RNK (AITM) tool cabinets AITM battery box AMT 359 Luberfiner AMT 359 headlamps www.planomodelproducts.com grille and aircleaner screen K&S aluminum tube fat pipes Bare Metal Foil chrome Plastruct diamond tread Plenty of Evergreen plastic for hood and sleeper. Hoods: These are all scratchbuilt with Italeri PB 378 fenders added on. Red 388 Inspired by this truck Big 379 long hood *See Post "Big and White" for finished pics 8/23/08* Stacks. Smedile's 389 *Pics added 8/23/08* I've been searching for the right rattle-can paint to come close to this truck. My digital camera is fooled by the color and lighting creating a blueish look.   20. The best way is to scratchbuild your own frame rails or use C channel from Plastruct or Evergreen of the appropriate size. When I splice a kit frame, I include an insert of brass or rigid plastic super glued (or epoxy) inside the frame rail. I try to run the insert the entire length of the splice/additional rail if possible. When I shorten a frame rail, I will also use an insert to strengthen the splice. I used rigid plastic for this dual spliced rail. I fill in the visible seam and sand smooth, then add bolt detail. Tim
