  1. Don't take my joking too seriously, Dingo, I only mean to lighten up our builds. This IS supposed to be fun! I have many Aussie friends, though most are in Darwin. I see you are a Southern boy. I really do want to see this build. This kit has interested me since release, though it's just too large for my spaces here. I love seeing the big trucks too that roar into this forum, but those too would never fit on my shelf space. )) Thanks for posting the pics!
  2. I originally got the Crown Vic to do a Mass State Cruiser.. I just love our paint scheme. You sure got a pile of these Fords there The Taurus arrived this afternoon. The wheels look really good ... very close. They need to be stripped for some natural aluminum, so gonna fill the SHO logo on them and make some blue oval decals. The Taurus front oval looks good too. Probably cut it off the Taurus tonight and weld to the Vic front. I'm a happy camper!
  3. That interior is gorgeous!! .. can't wait to see all the panels in place. The windshield (!!!) ... that sits really nice on the car ... don't think we've seen that before.. or the paint is just making it pop. and then there's the paint ... first, I love the color. Next, I know you're going to tell us you haven't even thought about any polishing yet .. but I can already see outside your window in it!!!!!
  4. Was just referring to a getaway car form the Revenuers the ol' Southern boys here can probably relate some personal stories related to this matter ...
  5. This one is from a Motherly request to build my Dad's car for her to display to all her friends at the Assisted Living shop. This was the first year of the venerable Cop Car you've all learned to instantly recognize in your rear view mirrors! This design was quickly adjusted the following year after all the complaints that the front grill area looked like a Taurus. I'm using one of the Lindberg 97 Crown Victoria kits for this build and will be backdating it to a 92. The front and read clips need most of the work and this should be a good build showing how I backdate these areas. First a couple photos of the real car... Here are some pics of the 97 model body after only some minor seam sanding for visual comparison. The changes made to the 97 model year are still very simple and the only body mods I need to make are in the front grill and rear tail light areas. I'll explain these changes as I go. The 92 Crown Vic's Taurus-like sheet metal between the headlights look was changed to a real grill. The kit's 97 grill-headlight still had the headlight shape and this line was scored with the back of a #11 blade until they detached. I was planning to just fill and molt the grill to the body, but the the slight recess for the Ford logo in the center gave me thought. I figured I would have to create the shape around the logo with possibly a deformed round plastic tube or some sheet plastic. In another post where I was searching for a source for the "wire" looking wheels on my Dad's car, torinobradley gave me the lead on the AMT Taurus kit. The wheels look perfect and I'm now figuring cutting out the front logo from that and patching into the Crown Vic will easily solve the problem. Still waiting for the Taurus kit to arrive so time will tell. This is the 97 before mods ..
  6. I recently purchase one of the new Dremel Stylus moto tools to replace my old plug in Dremel after all the good things said here. This IS a great modeling tool, but this is not going to be a Stylus advertisement. I thought the chuck off my plug in would fit, but the threads don't match. After numerous searches I found no chucks that listed the Stylus as a tool they would fit. Even Dremel has no chuck listed that fits the Stylus. My LHS tried the ones he had in stock and found the Dremel Chuck 4486 was a match. I expect, since the Stylus is their newest tool, their packaging .. AND web page, has not caught up the this tool yet. Here's a pic of the chuck got for those looking for this item.
  7. That's looking real good! Lots of nice color contrasts in the chassis and interior.
  8. Very cool... been wanting to see a build of this. Your plans sound very interesting. That engine would look good in a rod! eheh One word of caution though .. I'm not sure that huge thing will fit in Australia .. may have to do some resizing on each coast!
  9. that's a good looking color combo ... not seen before and looking great!
  10. Foxer

    BALLIN

paint looks good They must not give homework at U.T.I. !!! Your workbench is getting Phat Phast!
  11. I love those with different paint. Looking good so far... errrr...Ferrari red and chrome flathead? Chevy 6 banger with swoopy intake and header? Now, how the heck are you going to fit a casket in THAT lil thang???
  12. WoW! The box surprised me more than the great looking build! Didn't know that Red terror came in basic white.
  13. I HAD Zombie plans ... but my Revell-Monogram NotD Zombie kit got crushed by somebody's AMT snowplow and I lost the instructions.
  14. haha ,, that's the funniest thing I've heard in a long time
  15. That's a real bummer, Ernie. Glad you have this great hobby. Also glad you keep us thrilled at your work!
  16. Holy cow! I've seen that kit before, but never noticed the dual makers on it. Always thought it would be cool to build. What's the copyright dates on the box or instructions?
  17. That's a great looking start. I want to see it done!
  18. I just picked up the Anglia Drag Sedan today on a whim planning to make it a street machine.. (is this some kind of 944 influence??) Wasn't thinking of your build but thankfully it showed up in new posts today. Yous is looking really good! I was wondering what wheels you're using as they fit really well with the body.
  19. except, it lost all it's value when you stripped the chrome....
  20. The latest issue of Road and Track has a comparison of the new Hyundai Genesis Coupe and (my) Infiniti G37 Coupe, with the G37 winning but the Hyundai putting up a good fight. One winning point for the Hyundai not mentioned in the article is NO engine cover!!!! There's a lot of small plumbing running around but it sure LOOKS like an engine! The G37 was not a standard, but it still won that category anyway. I hear the new automatic is a winning one for drivers. For anyone interested here' the link to the comparison
  21. ! very cool. You DO have a machine shop there, Ernie
  22. I really do appreciate you efforts Ernie. Machine shops must be all digital now and no one uses these anymore. I see lots of plastic ones too. All seem to have slots at the apex that would prevent uses on small diameters. Looks like I'll have to make one.
  23. Very Cool .. excellent job! a Pontiac survives!! This is my favorite form of building .. one you owned.
  24. Thanks for the leads, ... but I'm still unable to find a center finder that is usable on the size of circular objects common in 1/25th modeling. Most I've seen have a notch at the intersection that appears larger than most round objects I'd need to mark. Model expo hobby tools has none in their catalog and a search does turn up a number and price but with a photo of a cardboard box. Possibly a discontinued item. Micro Mark's is on a steel square and appears too large and difficult to tell if the notch on that would hamper use on small items.
  25. My eyes hurt just looking at those rivets! awesome job Scott!!!
