    THE DON

I decided that this is the BEST model car I've EVER seen!!!!
  3. A little more progress, the accessories are coming together. Almost did some black gloss on them, but these huge blownup photos showed some defects.. bah.. so back to the shop a bit. Plugs got painted at least and plug boots cut from wire insulation. Slipped them back on wire to use as a cheap installation tool to slip over the distributor The bracket that the coil attaches to and the plug wires feed through is bolted to the head side with small brackets. A 51 Plymouth owner kindly sent photos of these brackets for me.. thank you and brackets fabricated. This is how I've been making all the tubular shaped accessories. I just cut the main part off the closest plastic tube and then pieces of smaller tubes that fit tightly to fill the insides solid. All glued and the aluminum tube will fit inside from bottom and act as an arm to chuck in the Dremel. I'll then use the Dremel as a cheap lathe to shape the part.
  4. Gorgeous build!
  5. I think after Bahrain it's in LA where they'll all be required to race Rat Rods

  8. That is one LIVELY set of builds! All that at a monthly meeting.. wow! Some just plain great ideas and follow throughs... thanks for the great photos!
  9. roll & pleat pie plates! ...great idea!
  10. I just plain love cars and when I started at 10years old I had no funds to get a real custom from Barris. I had done some planes and ships but when that 58 AMT T-Bird appeared in the hobby shop, it came home with me and I never looked back. To tell the truth, I have fessed up to the initial opening of the kit and fondling all the pieces as the most exciting phase of building a kit. My piles on the table would seem to say I don't enjoy the rest of it as much, but that's untrue. I love the hacking and chopping plastic bodywork the most.. painting I despise ... or at least don't get along well with it. That probably explains my signature.
  11. I smell window plastic....
  12. That's a looker! very nice build!!

  22. I had a short, but great time viewing this great show of talent and ingenuity and meeting those of you that I did. Hopefully I will finish at least one model before next year to have something to plop down. NNL East 2009
  23. Man, sorry I never got to met you and crew there. I was there only 2 hours, unfortunately, and the cars had me glued to the table .. so many great builds. Working through your shots ...
  24. OK .. so I had to leave my mailbox on Friday with NOBODY on guard in case MCM arrived. Since I was going 3 hours south to NNL East this is understandable. On arrival Saturday morning, I ran straight to the MCM photo table and was pleased to meet Mr Gregg for the first time.., and THE UNGRATEFUL NEVER OFFERED ME A COPY OF THE APRIL ISSUE!!!!! Well, it was a great show just the same and was a pleasure to meet many of you all there So, I did have to leave the show a bit early to go another hour south to visit my son. He said he discovered a model shop in Redbank and so we went to check it out. There in the magazine rack was.. YES .. you guessed it.. MCM April 2009!!! So I took a quick flip thru the pages and let it stay on the rack.. I KNEW it would be in the mailbox when we returned Sunday. It is now Sunday .... I want my, I want my, I want my MCM!!
