Great job on the interior! The body modifications have been carried-out so perfectly. I have this model, new in the box, now you've got my creative juices flowing. Keep the progress pictures coming. Purple will look so sweet! Rod

What a great build. I had a 68 Pontiac LeMans for a while. I loved that car, and would buy another one in a second if I could find one in decent shape. Now I HAVE to find a model of a 68 GTO, or a LeMans if they're out there. Thank you for sharing, you've given me some inspiration!

This is the kind of topic and responses that keeps me coming back to this forum with a smile on my face! I can only imagine what it would be like to all be in the same room at the same time, you wouldn't dare try to eat or drink........... we'd have to have EMT's stationed outside for the heimlich maneuver..... Going Back To Work!!!!
modelhut replied to RichCostello's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Congratulations Rich! I have been unemployed since last May, so I completely understand. I normally work in car dealerships, in management, where you are only as good as your last month. The last 2 times that I was unemployed, I was offered 2 jobs within hours of each other. Thankfully, I believe overall that I made the right decisions in each case. I wish you the best in your new endeavor! -
Tips, Tricks... and TUTORIALS!
modelhut replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thank you Harry! Being a modeler that absorbs new(not known to me) techniques is what I live for. It's a great thing to expand one's talents and abilities, with the help of others. I know that I share the little that I know, every chance I get. -
I was involved in an auto accident
modelhut replied to Jason Vandergriff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Jason, I am so glad that you are still here and able to feel some soreness, the alternative is not good! I have been in my fair share of accidents. 2 minor ones were my fault, but the 2 biggest ones were not. The day after Thanksgiving, in 2002, a young guy in a BMW didn't want to wait for me to go past him, so he made a left turn in front of me, we hit almost head-on. I had just bought this Honda Accord 4 weeks prior, and it was totaled. My chin touched my chest, and my glasses went flying. When I realized what happened, I was so p*&%$#@, that I would have throttled the guy, if my neck didn't hurt so much. My wife was reading and didn't see it coming. When I hit the BMW, it went over the curb and into the corner of a house. San Jose, Ca. had 992,000 population at the time. The ambulance took 45 minutes to show-up, so the fire department had us strapped down to the boards, in the middle of the intersection, the sun had gone down, we were both shivering from the cold, and every doggone neighbor was standing around the intersection laughing and joking and oogling. Lousy situation. The great news was, no broken bones, but 2 cases of severe whiplash and bruises from the seatbelts. BTW, I paid $2,000 for the Honda, the other guys insurance paid me $5,350 for the car. I will say this, the Honda held together great. Far better than when I rolled my Chevy 4x4 on the street in a rain-storm.......... Jason, take care, and I hope you get back to normal soon! -
A truly fantastic issue! Thanks to all who were involved.

Yes, the actor that played Assistant Director Skinner on X-Files. He has many, many, diecast models, and picks one of them up on that episode of Criminal Minds!I was drooling, I only have about 1/20th of the amount that was displayed. -
dont shoot this one down
modelhut replied to modelman71's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Welcome Bob! I am pretty new here, but I gotta tell ya, there is a lot of good commaraderie here. I think I spelled it right, and a lot of humor. My wife is always asking me what I'm laughing about as I read these various posts. I have over 100 unbuilt kits, and around 35 to 40 in various stages of being built. I refer to it as modelers A.D.D. As soon as I get another idea, I go out to the garage workshop, grab 2 or 3 models, and start kit-bashing and modifying to fit the image in my mind, or the latest vehicle I saw in one of my many enthusiast magazines. I can't wait to see some of your work. Have fun! -
Great tutorial! Thanks, now I'm gonna try it with the SoReal Iroks. I've got PVC pipe to replace the original wheels, now I need to make the wheel centers. This tip will help I believe, not to mention it can be used for many other types of wheels and tires. Thanks again! Rod

Nothing to laugh at. You have/are doing a great job! The flatbed looks great, and the paint is a perfect color. A very nice all-around work truck! Rod

Ford F-350 6x6
modelhut replied to RodneyBad's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
WOW! Great build, with lots of ideas. Here is my .02 cents worth. Use the F-350 cab, no sleeper, the John Deere wheels and tires, for the rear at least. I've started buying those toys from WalMart and taking the wheels/tires for my projects. If the Cat engine will fit, maybe with a body lift, that would be so tough!!!! Now I have to go to Michaels and get another Peterbilt 359.......... so many models and ideas, and no room left in the display cabinet. Keep the pictures coming, after you take some pain meds for the headache! Rod -
guess what i got for my birthday?
modelhut replied to hellonwheelz3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
First off, happy birthday, late! Congrats on the gifts. Please let us know how you like the airbrush. I am going to buy a new one this year, and I am majorly confused with what is out there. I have a Paache VL, dual action. I have used it quite a bit, but don't like the needle set-up. Enjoy! Rod -
Casey and family, I am so, so sorry that your Father and Husband is no longer with you. I will indeed pray for you and your family, because I believe that there is a Loving Father above, that will send His Holy Spirit to comfort you. Nobody has all the answers as to why these things happen, but I believe that we will be given the answers one day, and then we'll understand that which is a mystery to us now. Thank you for taking the time during your immense grief to share this with those of us on the forum. I see that there a lot of caring people here, and that does my heart good, I can only hope that it helps you somewhat as well. Rod

modelhut replied to Smart-Resins's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Scary thing Jody! I am glad to hear that you are recovering and able to still be with your wife and children! I will pray for a complete and speedy recovery Take life easy for a bit, it'll get back to hectic and stressful soon enough! Rod -
Brandon, GREAT JOB! Don't even think of quitting. The truck came out great, and from the pictures, so did the paint. We don't improve if we don't step out of our comfort zones and try different things. I like it!

A bit disturbing -
Great build. You really know your way around BMF. That interior is incredible! I am impressed. Great use of the background and display!

You surely proved your Aunt wrong! Great build. It's nice to see that there are still some other builders out there that like to build Monster Trucks!

What kind of music.....
modelhut replied to Hot_Rod_Bob's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If I'm building on the kitchen table, I listen to XM, the 70's, the 80's, channel 84 - Chill, channel 71 Smooth Jazz. If I'm working in the garage, I listen to one of 6,500 songs on my IPod. Smooth Jazz, Ambient or Chill, Country, Contemporary Christian, Rock - Queensryche, Dokken, Dream Theater, etc. I also listen to lots of Blues, Albert Cummings, Gov't Mule, Joe Bonamassa, Jonny Lang, Rhett Tyler & Early Warning, Rythm Doctors. Just like model-building, my taste in music is wide and varied. In order to spend time with the wife, I will face the television while building. I don't get as much done when a movie is on -
Limited Access blues.
modelhut replied to whale392's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think I can understand the dilemma. I am unemployed, and live way out in the country. The only way to get internet is satellite or cell-phone type card. Either is expensive, which I can't afford right now. My solution, I go to work with my wife everyday, sit in the office with all of the ladies. I use our laptop and search for jobs, and monitor the modeling forums. Long days, and boring at times, but better than staying at home all day, or paying a dollar an hour for parking so I can do the same thing at the local library! I wish you the best! -
Brett, great color! The build is coming along fantastic, keep the pictures coming.
