  1. Personally, I'm not sure if I could use them, but I'd be happy to see them made available to modelers. I know quite a few truck modelers who I know for a fact will go all Lady Gaga when I show them this thread, and will absolutely want some camo accent decals, I'll tell you that!
  2. Heard that, James! Tom- That's one of my favorite kits, I love '60's midsize Mercs, and this kit is a fairly good kit, detail wise. Great choice for returning to the hobby!
  3. That double-blown Hemi would make a great street rod engine, it's almost too pretty to cover with a hood!
  4. I've actually heard of this one... I think they showed one in Car & Driver years ago, it was still being produced well into the 1990's! Not sure if this would count as a 'modified resissue' or not, but weren't the early Datsuns iillegally copied Austin 7 models?
  5. I think those were issued around '98 or '99. I missed out on them at the time, too, but they seem to turn up quite a bit on eBay and e Model Cars. I've got all of them except the Chevy- they're all very nice engines! (Well, except the Chevy, which is underscale. And a Chevy... )
  6. Models like that one are the reason I want to get more into model trucking!
  7. Incredible!
  8. The fact that's one of my favorite Ford truck body styles will make it even better!
  9. Never resorted to a bat or hammer... but I have subjected at least one fiddly model to the 'floor shock' test! It survived, so after that, I HAD to finish it. Now, that headache inducing lump of styrene is one of my favorites...
  10. Then again... maybe I'd let the Scout burn and save this...
  11. Scratch-bashed, or scratchbashing, works for me,though I seldom use the term myself. Combining those two words just seems a little weird. Then again "kitbashing" has always conjured up weird mental pictures for me too, every time I hear it, I picture some modeler setting a sweet '49 Merc model onto a table, then smashing it flat with his fist. And why would you build something from 'scratch'? Wouldn't it be easier to use, I dunno... plastic, or something?
  12. [quote name='mountaindewd' date='18 July 2010 - 12:48 PM' timestamp='1279489722' post='336611' This may have been his inspiration. http://public.fotki.com/mountaindewd/rat-wrecker/
  13. It's just sportin' a gold tooth, like an old witch doctor!
  14. It always strikes me how cool Volvos look in race trim. Nicely done!
  15. I still stand by what I said about glue bombs earlier, but I still like seeing rare golden oldies actually get built!
  16. Yes! The 'CORD' to Hupp/Graham! How could I have forgotten that one, as a lover of both the Cord 810, and the Huppmobile? (My dad has a '39, last year of the 'non-ex-Cord- Huppsters.)
  17. And Mr. Robinson has added another element... bringing in a non kit, non-scratchbuilt component (resin, PE, or what have you). The plot thickens!!!!
  18. What are you planning for the engine... I'd leave THAT exactly the way it is!
  19. Only if you drive an Austin Marina! Sheesh, even if you buy one that's already had a piano fall on it...
  20. Art is correct... I hereby smite the Jeepster Commando from my original list until I see some actual proof they actually shared body panels!
  21. Wow- you drag racing modelers always blow me away!
  22. You're totally right about the chassis differences. Here's what made me list it as a "1:1 reissue"...I've read and been told by Jeep fanatics (is there any other type of Jeep lover? ) that the Jeepster Commando body tubs were stamped from the same tooling that pumped out the original Jeepster. Of course, there were differences (the rear fender openings being an obvious one), but what I've been told is basically the Commando's body was a hastily 'facelifted' Willys product, to the point that many of the structural panels will interchange between the two.
  23. A satellite dish IS one advantage to living out in the sticks, I suppose. That, and I can stay up until 3 or 4 AM watching TV and working on models! If I were in an apartment, I'd be evicted so fast I'd never know what hit me!
  24. My dad always felt the same way about the seventeen varieties of Cutlass! "I wish they'd just pick one and stick with it!" The LTD name had a pretty good following... 'brand association' I guess they'd call it nowadays. But Ford did kind of run it into the ground! I think that's mostly why they started de-emphasizing it and tacked the Crown Victoria stuff on later. Me, I've pretty much grown to accept all the weird model names and such, and I don't lose too much sleep when a long-standing old nameplate is put out to pasture. Well, okay, it is a pet peeve of mine when Chevy guys call their C/K series trucks Silverados, but I'm even beginning to accept that!
  25. I see a couple of very small early '60's style customs...
