  1. I think it was a Wheel Horse, Gramps, and was in the Lotus Indy Turbine kit by MPC. It was reissued in the mid '90's... again with the tractor, but sans the tractor decals.
  2. I've seen 'chomed bumpers' done with them before, I've also seen guys use the bumpers from a Monogram Stock Car kit, but that would probably cost even more than the foil/Alclad/Spazstix solutions already outlined!
  3. Thanks Mike. Well... the chrome isn't as nice 'in person' as it looks in the photo!
  4. I like gassers, and this is one of my all-time favorite kits, so this one should be a winner in my book.
  5. That's what it looks like, Charlie- the only other '94-style (T-300?) Ram kits were the AMT/Ertl 2500 and 3500s, which had hoods molded closed and the bed was separate from the cab.
  6. Picked up some 'junk box goodies' today, and I'm just curious if anybody could tell me what kits they are from. I think this one might be from a '61-'63 T-Bird kit, from the wheels. The others I have no idea... This one I'm thinking is a Pontiac or Buick- the valve covers look like they could be a Poncho V8 or Buick V6, but are the wrong size to be either! Unless they're supposed to be halves to a Moon tank, or something.
  7. AMT '66 T-Bird "Customizing" edition, '69 Buick Riviera, '75 AMC Matador Stock Car, Monogram Olds Aerotech, Fujimi Mechanic figures, and a couple boxes full of spare junk I'll have to invent a use for!
  8. That explains why the Graham/Hupps weren't nearly as graceful as the Cord- with all the 'reproportioning' which had to go on.
  9. I think this one came from Wal-Nut, and I bought a second one off e-Bay which was gray, but all the others I've bought at hobby shops were white.
  10. I built this one way back when Lindberg first reissued the L-700 with the trailer and '40 Ford, and molded the whole mess in dark gray plastic. I used the back half of the trailer for the truck's platform, and strecthed the chassis with new rails made from Plastruct C-channel. Not quite up to my current standards of detail or build quality, but I still like it! The F-350 was painted with the same can of Orange, just over gray plastic on the Dodge and white on the Ford. But the Ford's a story for another time!
  11. I for one would love to see the bikes reissued- they might just have a broader appeal than the engines. Then again, what do I know? I snap up parts packs like a mad man whenever I see them!
  12. I showed these to my 4x4 building buddies last night, and yeah... they flipped!
  13. I used to have that kit... those wheels shown on the box are not even included with it! It only had the stock wheels! Funny thing is, there's what appears to be a '57 Chevy rear bumper on the chrome sprue, too.
  14. He's correct- 1998 copyright date, right around the time 'Revel-O-Gram' was using both names. Great engines... well, not so much the Chev!
  15. Personally, I'm not sure if I could use them, but I'd be happy to see them made available to modelers. I know quite a few truck modelers who I know for a fact will go all Lady Gaga when I show them this thread, and will absolutely want some camo accent decals, I'll tell you that!
  16. Heard that, James! Tom- That's one of my favorite kits, I love '60's midsize Mercs, and this kit is a fairly good kit, detail wise. Great choice for returning to the hobby!
  17. That double-blown Hemi would make a great street rod engine, it's almost too pretty to cover with a hood!
  18. I've actually heard of this one... I think they showed one in Car & Driver years ago, it was still being produced well into the 1990's! Not sure if this would count as a 'modified resissue' or not, but weren't the early Datsuns iillegally copied Austin 7 models?
  19. I think those were issued around '98 or '99. I missed out on them at the time, too, but they seem to turn up quite a bit on eBay and e Model Cars. I've got all of them except the Chevy- they're all very nice engines! (Well, except the Chevy, which is underscale. And a Chevy... )
  20. Models like that one are the reason I want to get more into model trucking!
  21. Incredible!
  22. The fact that's one of my favorite Ford truck body styles will make it even better!
  23. Never resorted to a bat or hammer... but I have subjected at least one fiddly model to the 'floor shock' test! It survived, so after that, I HAD to finish it. Now, that headache inducing lump of styrene is one of my favorites...
  24. Then again... maybe I'd let the Scout burn and save this...
  25. Scratch-bashed, or scratchbashing, works for me,though I seldom use the term myself. Combining those two words just seems a little weird. Then again "kitbashing" has always conjured up weird mental pictures for me too, every time I hear it, I picture some modeler setting a sweet '49 Merc model onto a table, then smashing it flat with his fist. And why would you build something from 'scratch'? Wouldn't it be easier to use, I dunno... plastic, or something?
