  1. I was out in the garage today, and what did I find behind the workbench, but the chassis from an AMT '69 kit! Even though I've already went through all the trouble of hacking the Revell piece to fit, I thought I'd see how the AMT part fit just to satiate my curiosity. It fit perfectly, just as I've been told it would! That's the route I'll take next time,(IF I ever decide to update a Jo-Han 442 kit again in the future), but I'm still gonna have a little fun with this one!
  2. Nicest '29 A Street Rod I've seen in a very, very long time. Looks way better than the Phantom Vicky that spawned it!
  3. Keeping my eye on this one, for sure!
  4. Hmmmm... two Scout II kits and I could do a replica of that Traveler!
  5. Mostly that's the fault of inattentive and/or idiotic mechanics and owners not changing out dry-rotted fuel lines under the hood. Ford calls for the lines to be inspected and replaced at certain intervals, but of course, no one ever does it. It's kind of like a timing belt- you're SUPPOSED to replace it every so often, but the only time one ever gets replaced is when it fails. Now, back to the matter at hand... I've been wanting to do a 'burned' model for a very long time (like, since I was six or seven), but there really don't seem to be many modelers building burned models, so there isn't as much information on making a model look burned as there is for making one look rusty and weathered. This thread has really helped, and given me some ideas, and even given me some info I'd have never considered on my own, such as the damage resulting from a firefighter 'tenting' the hood. Fun stuff, this!
  6. The details look pretty good- certainly better than I could have done! I will agree with Steve- work on making the plug wires sag a bit more realistically. But over all, pretty good effort!
  7. Well, I'll be! I'd normally say I'd go look for one... but not for the prices I'm seeing hurled about on this thread!
  8. That is funny, now that you mention it. Then again, it seems Revell can't put sidewall lettering on their tires to save their lives nowadays because of licensing litigation, but AMT can pull it off. I still think Round 2 must have a sharper legal department than does Revell!
  9. Yeah... I was still just a grade school rugrat in the early '90's, and I remeber reading about all the cool stuff Satco was going to release, and I also remember wishing I was a grown up with a job so I could afford it all! Now that I am a 'grown up' with a job to afford stuff, I realize a LOT of that stuff never actually made it to the shelves. Sure, I've snapped up quite a few of their tire sets, but there's still a huge void in my heart because of their not following up! (Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating the 'huge void in my heart'... but, well, you know... ) RC2/Learning Curve sucked at it too, but now that the modeling end of the business is in the hands of Round 2 I'm not so worried. As has been stated by others, I'm also in the "I'll believe it when I see it" camp, but this would be a very cool kit to have, and I'd really like to see it available. I'm kind of shocked there's never been a Cobra Daytona Coupe kitted in plastic before- even the Olds Aurora powered Series 1 made it into a plastic kit, and it was pretty much a huge failure as a 1:1!
  10. So nice I want to lick it! (Licking computer screen...) Yech! Tastes like static shock! All kidding aside, I love the early Jags, and you don't see them too often in scale, and you did a great job on this one. Keep 'em coming!
  11. Jo-Han did basically the same thing on the '70 Olds 442 kit. The engine is great- easily up to today's standards, even, but totally dropped the ball on the chassis and interior. At least they got the bodies done right. Well... usually. Mike- I think Testors reissued either the Comet or Maverick a few years back. It was in their catalog, but I've never seen one 'out in the wild'.
  12. Hey... the wifey never needs to find out. Still, if your old lady is sexier than Halle Berry... you really don't need a prize, IMHO!
  13. I liked the Shotgun mill so much, I decided to save it for something a bit better. But all was not lost, I figured I could stab a 5.0L into the car and make a decent little curbside pro tourer! Oh, and Christian, you perfectly nailed the Jo-Han kit engineering philosophy!
  14. Whoa! If I were even 1/3 the scratchbuilder you were!
  15. I did a pro street '78 Dodge LRE a few years back- If I've still got it I'll glady post pics! Just give me some time to find it.
  16. That's one thing I've never done- build a replica of a real race car, much less build two of the same. I always love seeing Bantam quarter milers!
  17. I ordered an SSII transkit from Time Machine, and figured I'd build up another Scout II kit while I was waiting for it to show up. Well, it's done, and the SSII still hasn't showed. Sigh... Highlights include- Olds 455 V8 W/TBI 4-speed Manual Tranny Lifted Suspension Super Swamper TSL Radials (Now available from Ma's Resin! ) Sliding Quarter Glass (Well, non funcioning on the model, but you know what I mean!) Scratchbuilt bumpers and '73 spec grille. Scratchbuilt hood w/Nova Cowl scoop Ted Nugent Dazzle Paint (Inca Gold, Revving Red fade, flat black stripes, and a dull coat and dust over all of it) Plus a bunch of other stuff I'm too traumatized to recall at this time. This is probably my 45th Scout model. I really like Scouts!
  18. Allan- again- stop putting out all this cool stuff, so I can finally make up my mind and BUY some stuff from you already! I really like the Super Swamper TSL radials- now I won't need to cannibalize Aoshima Toyota pickup kits for them anymore.
  19. That describes 95% of my projects... but mine never turn out THIS cool!
  20. Not just the quarter glass, but the whole side window opening on that kit has always looked weird to me.
  21. Yes. Didn't know there was a challenge on in that department, but now that I'm aware of it, yes.
  22. One of these days, I want to do a 1:25 Optimus Prime using a Peterbilt kit. And I don't mean Optimus in truck form... I mean I want to cut and chop that truck into the Robot form!
  23. He is right, but here's something about the windsheild and back light on that kit that should be mentioned- just cut off the mounting pins molded inside the body. Don't bother at all- just shave them off when you first begin the model. It will make adding the front and rear glass and getting them to fit well tons easier.
  24. Yeah- the thing is GIGANTIC!!!! The Model King '71 body will almost fit inside it!
