  1. So far, so good- you don't see too many of these slammed out in model form! You're making me want to dust off that stripped '84 kit I've got laying around.
  2. I'll see what I can do- I'm not sure where I put the truck now. I know it's not in a Silverado or Escalade box, though, because all the Silverado and Escalade boxes I have are full of parts from other kits!
  3. I've tried twice and come up short- here's what NOT to do... The first time, I tried cutting and pasting just the grille area from the Revell Escalade (after I'd cut the hood open) to the Silverado nose. That effort ended when I realized I'd still need to splice in the fender flares and rockers from the Escalade to the pickup, not to mention the repair work I'd need to do to the Escalade hood after my somewhat ham-fisted attempt at opening it. On the second try (which didn't turn out totally unsalvagable, and I may finally finish it one day), I still opened the hood, but I cut off the Escalade front end at the front door cut line, and just above the rocker panel cladding. I essentially removed the entire upper door/roof section from the Escalade. I then cut the Silverado cab in the same manner, and just glued the severed upper door/cab portion from the Silverado onto the Escalade rockers and doghouse. The reason this second version isn't done is simply because I don't remember where I put the first Escalade donor kit, and I don't want to buy a second one just for its rear rockers and flares (I'm running the Escalade side cladding all the way to the bed). Of course, you could save a bit of trouble by leaving the Escalade hood molded closed, and just making it a curbside, and slam it out on some huge wheels... which is probably what I should have done in the first place!
  4. You're right- it was the 2nd gen S-truck that had the Brazilian Crew Cab. But I think it didn't come to the US until 2000 or so. Heck, there was an all new 1995 Dodge Ramcharger... avaialble only in Mexico. Why do other countries get all the cool stuff? Still, a first gen crew cab would have been cool. Good progress!
  5. Why not? Heck, who saw the '72 kit, or even the Chevy 150 kit, coming even a few years ago? The kit manufacturers seem to be stepping away from the no-brainer subjects, and going after the stuff that's a bit off mainstream, but still marketable. There isn't exactly a glut of station wagon kits in styrene form, and since much of the tooling exists in the drop top kit, who knows what will happen?
  6. According to one of the moderators on the Binder Planet message board (a forum for lovers of all things IH light truck related), a few guys actually have done this. In fact, he told me a guy way out in the Phillipines did a real one that looked almost exactly like my model.
  7. Looks like there's been some recent activity on his '50 Lincoln thread!
  8. I've got a '62 Fairlane annual kit, and I've often thought of stuffing the T-bolt chassis underneath it. This model ought to turn out really cool, even if it's a bit on the rough side right now. That glass table is kind of weird, though!
  9. I did catch this one earlier, Romell, but I still can't believe it when I look at it. I want to go out and buy a 1:1 Super Duty... just so I can build it up to look like this one!
  10. Ray has possibly the coolest light truck kit EVER... the '56 (actually a '57) A-100 Golden Jubilee Custom International. It's a bit crude by today's standards, but it's the only IH light pickup I've ever seen in 1:25 kit form (it was based off an old promo). I only have one at the moment, but I have several more planned in the works!
  11. I'd go with just a basic mild custom- with the whitewalls and steelies, and a basic removal of badges and handles. I think I'd probably run a custom grille, if for no other reason the grille in teh Revell '64 and '65 Chevy truck kits has always bugged me. Too narrow? Too tall? Both? I can't put my finger on it, but that's really the only gripe I have with this particular kit, and no matter which way you go you ought to be pretty happy with it!
  12. They reminded me more of Madonna. I love 'em! Very nicely done as usual, John. A perfect '60's style custom shoebox Ford!
  13. I'd even be happy with a '69 version for the old MPC/AMT kit, if there isn't one out in resin already. Hmmm. Off to Google I go....
  14. I hear ya, buddy! I've dropped some serious coin on more than a few old 4-door and wagon kits, such as the Jo-Han '68 Fury cop car, and the '61 Olds F-85 and '60 Plymouth wagons. I also snap up any AMT '70 Ford cop car kit whenever one pops up for sale. While everybody else is wishing for a hardtop version of the new Revell '72 Cutlass (I'd like one, as well), the little voice in my head keeps saying "Man, I hope they tool up a Vista Cruiser version!" Hmmmm... any resin casters up for that challenge?
  15. The rundown one with the straight axle '57 out front is my favorite!
  16. I think they actually made something like that in Brazil, but not a Syclone version!
  17. I can't say I've ever heard that advice- it would seem to me that finishing off with the rattle can would offset anything you accomplished with the airbrush.
  18. She's shaping up to be a real mind bender!
  19. This is worse than crack! Jeez, I'm chomping at the bit to get my hands on these things!!!! And let's not forget the Lonestar! Moebius will be getting a sizable chunk of my income in the very near future...
  20. Dude- that green Ford Super Duty was one of the baddest models I've ever seen. This Chevelle looks like it might even top that!!!! Killer work! I can only hope your 1:1 Chevelle turns out as cool as the model is shaping up to be!
  21. What? BTK? Dennis Rader, the Kansas serial killer? I thought they locked you up!
