  1. I'll see your tim and raise you Evan Hermel as well!
  2. I'll wholeheartedly support all the candidates for 'the best' I've seen so far (except for that Chuck Most clod- knowing him personally I can tell you he's a useless hack, and not much in the personality department either )- and add a couple I think have been forgotten so far... Joe Cavorley, Winston Mitchell, Bill Stillwagon, Bill Coulter, and anyone who can sucessfully pull off an old Jo-Han or Premeire kit and have the thing actually look GOOD when it's done. (Read- not me!)
  3. In that case, I'll skip the coaster and chill on the log ride for a little bit!
  4. I've had my eye on his Anglia chassis for a couple of years, but after hearing all the horror tales about how long it takes to get stuff out, I doubt I'll ever buy it. Really- what's so hard about putting something in a box, writing and adress on it, and sending it on its merry way... even if you DID have to cast iit first?
  5. Count me in on the 'gladly pay more for better quality' bandwagon, but there is a limit to what I'll spend on a kit! (As soon as I find it, I'll let you know!) My big gripe is this- Yeah, I can stomach paying $20-$25 (or more) on a new tool kit, but I should not have to pay that much for a sorry old reissue! $22 is a great price for a Revell '69 Nova. For an AMT '72 Nova? Not so much.Yes, the plastic costs money, but come on- I don't think I should have to pay full price on a kit whose tooling costs were paid off when Nixon was in the white house!
  6. Valuable Vintage kit? The kit was, what, only out of production for seven or eight years when you wrote that article... IF that, even! Yeah- now those Joker Goon Cars sell for a fair price! And what right does a kit collector have telling a builder what to do? That guy is REALLY going to hate my completed Jo-Han models!
  7. Cool looking model, Dave! I've wanted to build this kit for as long as it's existed, but haven't so far.
  8. The van looks like it would be the ultimate shag wagon!
  9. Hope you don't need to bail- that water looks pretty mucky!!!!
  10. Complete with a comprehensive article by Chuck Most, on how to fix the problems with a Palmer kit! Here is a sneak peak at the article in its entirety! FIXING PALMER KITS by Chuck Most Take the Palmer kit (as shown in Photo 1), and flush it down the nearest toilet (as shown in Photo 2). PHOTO 1: The kit you probably shouldn't have bought. PHOTO 2: The tools you will need to set things right.
  11. I want one!
  12. Headed out to gas up the car this morning on my way to the hardware store, and what do my wandering eyes see at the local mom & pop restaraunt? Well, pictures speak louder than words... Turns out the car owners were having breakfast inside, and getting ready to head out to a car show out East of Ithaca.
  13. Totally sick... I can't imagine what this puppy would cost to build in 1:1, especially with that trick suspension and Boss 429 mill! I might need to buy me a caseload or two of these resin kits!
  14. Welcome aboard! Glad you see you aren't Van Hagar!

  15. I don't think driving on ice would be so bad... just that instead of driving over an iced-over road, you are driving over actual ice atop a lake. THAT might give me pause...
  16. I see a '76 Chevette with a Mustang II grille! Never knew Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles were employed as product managers for Palmer...
  17. Looks 'acceptable'. It's certainly better, proportions-wise, than the old Nitto Mustang II! I'm planning a drag car, so I can live with a few gaffes here and there. Spike- I was never even aware there was an MPC Skyhawk- I'll keep my eyes peeled now, though! Thanks for the photos!
  18. I dunno- I'll have to go with the first version. With the full-width grille on the second version, it kind of looses the traditonal Mustang look. Still, the secnd version looks WAAAAAAAAAAY better than a '71-'73, which tried a bit to hard to look like a '69 Shelby. A fat, slab-sided, '69 Shelby.
  19. I'm not sure about this "in a trucker way", but I do concur she's hot!
  20. If you want to take some pictures, feel free. I can't seem to find any images of the unbuilt kit online (and few decent images of built examples). A guy I know has this exact kit sealed, but he will not open it... unless, of course, I cough up the $20 he wants for it first!
  21. C'mon... who'd you rather run into at a dark, lonely truck stop... her or Hugh Roland!?
  22. I was thinking along the same lines...
  23. I've had fairly good (but mixed) results drybrushing, and using a toothpick to apply paint to lettering and other surfaces. I've had far better luck applying BMF to the section while still in bare plastic, then priming and painting as I normally would, and rubbing the paint off the raised areas with a cloth or VERY gentle sanding with VERY fine grit paper. It really works well on all but the most finely-engraved details.
  24. Hey- Lisa Kelly is back for this season!
  25. Just wondering, has anyone built this kit, or does anyone at least have any shots of the kit contents? I'm a little leery of these old Japanese kits, because quite a few of them have proportion problems and many were originally motorized, and that really compromises the interior and chassis. Any hiccups of that sort with this kit?
