So I cut out the exhaust system and removed the front and rear suspension components. The process of removing the exhaust system left holes and damage to the floor boards so I patched then with sheet styrene and puttied the seams.I used fine brass wire bent into 2 "U"-shaped forms to represent reinforcement beading.I used the dual exhausts included in the Revell Black Widow kit.I used the big block .front suspension and rear diff from the AMT '70 Corvette. THe end -result is a much more accurate looking chassis.
WEll ,as you can see from this photo, the kit-supplied chassis is pretty bad'overscale molded-in engine, poor front and rear suspension and diff as well as a molded in exhaust system.
No I cut open the hood to allow for an engine.I couldn't take the poorly executed chassis pan. here is the engine bay(I need more detail here which is coming).
I don't have photos of the build process but as I recall i used 2-part epoxy on the frame due to the chrome plating.I used 5-minute epoxy and the extended cure time allowed me to square up the frame and make adjustments as necessary.I too have that book and it is an indeed excellent reference for Roth rods!
Looks great! I picked up the pre=painted low-rider version that I plan to make stock.I cut open the hood and realized that this wil be some work! The chassis has built-in engine detail that is overscale so I have to find a suitable donor chassis.
