  1. Excellent job of matching the 1:1! Jim
  2. Thanks Tony. I didn't add the gold to the drom box because all of the photos that I've seen on Hank's site have the tractor painted in their own scheme and the drom stripes match the lines of the trailer. http://www.hankstruckpictures.com/pix/trucks/macneil/2005/dec05/file003.jpg I may have to start the trailer sooner than I had planned! Jim
  3. Thanks for the compliments everyone. The red and white stripes are airbrushed and the gold pinstripes are super thin vinyl. Jim
  4. That is a rugged looking Mack! The C cab looks perfect on a 4 wheel drive chassis. We could use that one out on the roads here today! Jim
  5. Thanks. The stacks are the photo etched kit from sourkraut. Jim
  6. Thanks for the kind words everyone. The vinyl for the tarp is adhesive backed and super thin and it layed down better than I had expected without having to heat it. This is actually the second one I had built so I pretty much had the bugs worked out on the first one. This is the one I built about five years ago based on the Great Dane extendable flat with a 10'-1" spread.
  7. This one started out as the Revell Germany "Australia" version of the 108" cab. Pretty much box stock with the addition of photoetched stacks and nameplates, and I swapped out the headlights and horns with some from the parts box. The trailer is the reissued Fruehauf flat with a scratchbuilt side kit and tarp which I made from sheet and strip styrene and some matte black vinyl from work. Jim
  8. AMT never made any but there are some resin conversions available from AITM. http://www.aitruckmodels.com/pages/kitsparts.html Jim
  9. That is one tough looking bulldog! Nice job on scratching the front axle as well. Jim
  10. That is a tough looking Pete, very nice!! How do you cover something like a radiator surround with all of those curves with bmf and not get one wrinkle? Jim
  11. That is a great looking Mack! Are you going to build a van trailer for it? Jim
  12. Thanks. Drom boxes were used to carry extra freight mainly out west where the length laws were not so restrictive. Moving companies and bakeries used them quite often since the loads were light weight, but I have seen dromedary tanks, flat decks, livestock bodies etc. There are lots of photos on Hank's, especially under Russ MacNiell's link. Jim
  13. Tim, The accent stripes are done out of the vinyl that I use on signs cut to 1/32". Jim
  14. I've been checking this site out for a while now and there are some fantastic builds on here. I figure it's time to introduce myself and post something. My name is Jim and I am the plant manager of a sign company in Columbus Ohio. I have been building trucks on and off for 30 + years. This is the latest one that I finished. I started with an amt torsion bar kit, lengthened the frame, scratch built the drom from a Ford short hauler box, dropped in a Cat v8, swapped out the wheels and tires from a White, and painted it in Andrews van lines livery. I need to replace the windshield one of these days due to an accidental mishap with super glue accelerator. Eventually it will have a Trailmobile moving van behind it. Thanks for looking.
