Actually, yes I was planning one like that!! I was also going to try and shoehorn a Porsche flat six in there too.......... Rick
  2. I don't know what to say, except I'm sorry to see that! It would make for a nice public service announcement......... Don't let this happen to you......... Sorry about the model, it looked great! Rick

Thank You All for the kind words!! I actually had something happen on this project I've never had before. When it was done, I was disappointed that it was finished!! If this is typical of Tamiya kits, I guess I need to buy more of them! I already have plans for at least a couple more of these bugs......... Thanks Again, Rick

Thanks for the kind words! I thought of that, I have my mom looking for more pictures so maybe I can add that later....... Thanks Again, Rick
  5. Seeing the great job everyone has done on their choppers, I thought I'd try my hand at one. It's basically the Torch kit with handlebars I made and slightly trimmed fenders.......... Thanks for lookin, Rick

Hi Guys, I just finished my first Tamiya kit!! O.k., it's been done for a couple months, but computer problems have prevented me from posting pictures. Using old pictures and my fading memory I tried to re-create my fathers first brand new car. I think I got it pretty close........... Thanks for looking, Rick
  7. Hi, Thanks again for those suggestions, I had been using the Dawn dish soap for years and had only one problem with it in all that time. I had been away from modeling for a few months, and in that time we must have used the last of it and replaced it with this "other" stuff. I used Biscuitbuilder's suggestion on this project and now have probably the best "straight out of the can" paint job I have ever done!! I'll post some pic's soon...... Thanks Again!! Rick
  8. That's what I was afraid of, the aloe being kind of an oil and leaving fish-eyes in the paint. Thank you for your suggestions, I never thought about either of those products. I'll run out and get those this afternoon!! Thanks Again, Rick
  9. That looks Great, Where did you find a 572? I've been wanting one (O.K., Maybe a few!!) for a while now but havent seen ANY. Thanks, Rick
  10. Hi Guy's, I'm finally getting some much needed modeling time in, (The Wife and kids are gone for a week!!), and I just finished prepping my next project for paint. I went to final wash the thing and found we only have anti-bacterial dish soap with aloe!! I hate to just try it and see if it works, Can I use this or do I have to just break down and go buy some regular dish soap?? :? Thanks, Rick
  11. Looks like you're off to a great start!! Keep us posted on progress. Rick
  12. Thanks again for the kind words!! I really don't know about freezin' in the winter, luckily by winter I had moved up to one of the 4300's they had!! Rick
  13. Looks great so far, Darn it, now you have me thinking of how I want to build mine!! Rick
  14. Are there any specific days they will be doing this? I have a few days next week I could probably sneak out there for a few hours Thanks for the heads up, Rick
  15. Thanks!!, I lost a few gallons of sweat in a few of these myself Rick
  16. I don't know why exactly, but lowered Caddies just look MEAN!! Can't wait to see this one done! Rick
  17. Thank you for all the nice comments!! I have built quite a few of the old Ertl International kits, and most use this same rear suspension. I found to get all the tires to touch requires some trimming of the forward drive axle and the beam it attaches to. The conversion to a working suspension was very straight forward, with just a minor alignment problem which was my fault. Thanks Again, Rick
  18. Interesting approach, I never would have thought about doing a few at a time!! Looking forward to seeing the finished trucks Rick
  19. That's not perfect? I can't find even one tiny flaw in your pictures, Really Great job!! Rick
  20. Those colors go perfectly with that car, Great job!! Rick
  21. I've never had a connector just come apart, the ones that happen me alot are when I don't move the airhose before I start welding. The sudden hissing and you can't see what it is because of your helmet is blocking your view that direction, that'll make your heart skip a beat or two!! Rick
  22. Oh OK, I'm a little too young to remember the show, but the opening trailer you mentioned here sounds awfully farmiliar. I must have seen a clip or maybe the show was in syndication at some point? Anyway, great looking model!! Rick
  23. Thank you for your replies, I'll look into those idea's very soon. Those are some great models guys, I grew up in the middle of the rust belt, and have seen many, many cars that looked just like that Bonneville!! (I've even owned a few ) You nailed the look perfectly!! Thanks Again, Rick
