  1. Thank you!! Started work on the trailer last night, that won't take as long as this did! Rick
  2. Thank you!! It's the first model I've finished in almost a year! Rick
  3. Hi Everyone, Except for decals and air hoses, I'm calling this one done! Now for the trailer....... Rick
  4. Thank You!! I wasn't sure I liked those colors together, but its growing on me Rick
  5. Hi everyone! Finally got some paint on almost everything, Not much more than assembly now...... I should have this done in about two weeks, then I'll start work on the trailer! Thanks for looking and putting up with me!! Rick
  6. Hi, I've built two of these. If you tape a piece of sandpaper to something perfectly flat, and sand the mating surfaces on that paper perfectly flat, you can hold the pieces in place and apply liquid cement from inside. It fits a lot better. There is no gap and it looks like a panel seam, so there is no sanding. The back wall fits alot better if you add .010 strip plastic to both sides, then cement the rear wall in place. That also all but eliminates the problem of the interior tub being too tight. Rick
  7. Thank You!! Filling the steps was one of the easiest things to do. I figured with so many of us doing this truck for this, I should try something new (for me) and different
  8. Looks like everyone else here has been busy!! Some very nice models coming together here as well as a couple of finished ones!! Not much progress here, I sat down the other night and got my frame together as well as a couple of other assemblies. Was able to do a quick mock-up.... Rick
  9. Thought I could try to squeak one by, you caught me!! No real progress lately, broke one of the snowmobiles the weekend before last and two more last weekend so I've been in the garage instead of at the model table. My son joined the Navy a couple months ago on the delayed entry program, so this is our last winter with him for a while. Trying to do as many "family" activities as possible before he leaves!! Rick
  10. Happy New Year everyone!!! Well, still a half hour to go for me. I hope this one is better than the last one for all of you!! I got a little time in today and worked on the cab. I filled in where the steps go and added some rivet detail here and there. I might be able to prime it tomorrow. I may even be able to start work on the frame tonight. I still haven't decided on colors or stripes yet. Any ideas or suggestions? I'm going for a fleet look so a simple two tone would be best. Thanks for looking! Rick
  11. I could be wrong, but I think it's because if the interior doesn't fit all the way into the cab, the cab won't sit right on the frame. I had that problem with the one I finished a few months ago. It took alot of trimming and re-positioning to get it to work right. Rick
  12. Thank you Justin, you just made my day!! And yay on your idea, I was going for that but over- did it... Rick
  13. Anything is possible. If it was a show truck it could be custom painted, or if it was rebuilt the rebuilder would paint it any color he chooses.... Rick
  14. Thank You, the more I look at the more it grows on me The picture I just posted shows the color, I used real Cummins engine paint on it.... Rick
  15. Small update, the engine is done! I tried to do a little weathering, not sure if I like how it turned out. I also removed those monsterous mounts on the frame for the mudflaps and rear fenders, and sanded the cab mating surfaces flat so they fit together better. Not much I know, but it's a start!! Rick
  16. Only a small update, I got most of the chrome stripped, the wheels I'm going to use are stripped, and started assembling the engine last night. Nothing worthy of a picture yet, but I have actually started!! Rick
  17. Cool, put me down for a Freightliner coe with a Fruehauf reefer! Both kits are as yet unstarted. I'm thinking a fairly plain company truck. No idea as of now what color. Thanks, Rick
  18. Whew, winter toys finally ready to go! I'm ready to start if you'll still have me! You guys have been busy, some awesome builds going on here! Thanks, Rick
  19. In my short career I've had a few loads stand out as weird. The first one I was assigned to was a six or seven stop load (can't remember for sure, 20+ years ago) with one box going to each of our operating centers. It turned out to be all the permits and fuel stickers for all of our trucks. I hauled a Government seal load to an Army base, the contents were blacked out and when I got there they had me drop the trailer, they hooked up one of their trucks to take it for unloading, then brought it back to me. I had another Government load to an Air Force base where the paperwork was also blacked out. I was able to see them unload this one, It was a large wooden crate exactly as big as the inside of the trailer. No idea what was in it. While I hauled gravel, I had a strange one. Hauled loads of dirt to a large field somewhere and as I arrived each time people in hazmat suits would duct tape the doors and windows shut before letting me in to dump. They were definitely trying to bury something nasty there! Rick
  20. I'd still like to join!! Not sure what to build, maybe a nice resin B model Mack on a DM 600 frame? Still trying to get the winter toys prepped for the season. I should be done by next week and start on this soon after. Thanks, Rick
  21. Cool, count me in! I don't know exactly what I'll do, but I have plenty to pick from.......... Thanks, Rick
  22. I'd be interested, would these be trucks operating today or could they be from the sixties or seventies? Rick
  23. I usually use Tamiya gloss black over Testors flat black. it has a definite gloss when dry, but not too much. Also the flat black covers everything in one coat, giving the gloss something to stick to and not pull away from raised details! Rick
  24. I've driven a few of those beasts, the cabs are aluminum and the hoods are fiberglass. Rick
