  1. Really Nice, I like it a lot. As far as getting better pictures, I found a very cheap tripod (less than $10) at walmart. Between that and the delay timer on the camera, I get much clearer pictures..... Rick
  2. Thank you, yes they could use a little "wash". I also noticed the brake drums/backing plates are too clean. Also if I remember right a lot of these trucks came with steel frames, maybe a little Rustall would help. Thanks Guys for all the great ideas, this one is heading back to the bench.......... Rick
  3. Thank you, those are good ideas. I'll have to go dig that issue out....... Rick
  4. Thank you, They are there, just real hard to see in these pictures...... Rick
  5. Thank you, I saw that too after I uploaded the pictures. The more beat to heck these things get, the better some of them look!! Rick
  6. Thank you, I'll have to look for that stuff next time I'm at one of the hobby stores. I did find some nice weathering powders last time I was there, but haven't yet found a good way to apply them convincingly...... Rick
  7. The color looks good here, Nice choices! Cool trailer, is it a modified kit or did you scratch build it? Rick
  8. Thank you, No room for a trailer I'm running out of walls I can put shelves on....... Rick
  9. Due to a health scare last year, two of my "holy grails" found their way to my workbench. One (International CO 4070) sits completed on my "finished shelf" and the another (Mack Cruise liner) is nearly done. My last grail (Big Deuce) found it's way to me by my kids this past fathers day! I'll start that one soon...... Rick
  10. Hasn't affected me much, I have been buying only the new releases as they come out for a while now. I don't put many miles on my cars, so I only fill up once every 3 weeks or so...... Rick
  11. Thanks for the compliments! You made me feel better about this one, I think I'm going to call it done! (finally) Rick
  12. It's your model and you can do whatever you want with it, I would leave it as is. With all that beautiful shiney paint, it would almost be a crime to cover it with dirt and grime!! Rick
  13. Hi everyone, this one is based on a truck a neighbor drove while I was in my early teens. It was dirty and dull and looked like it had a billion miles on it, but I thought it looked so cool! I'm sure it's not exactly as it was back then, but I think it's pretty close. This is my first serious attempt at weathering but it still doesn't look right to me. Any honest opinion on how to improve this would be greatly appreciated! Thank You in advance, Rick
  14. Thank You, and happy fathers day to all the other fathers here!!
  15. I am a lurker, oops I mean member of several forums , but really only post here. I love all the great pictures, wip's, and ideas here the most, but if I post a question, I get Real answers, and not ones suggesting hammers or fireworks as the only solutions!! Thanks- Rick
  16. Thanks, If you're serious, I can probably make another one. It might be easier to do this time since I know better from the last one what works and what doesn't. Rick
  17. I built one from the old MPC kit to look like one I had 20 years ago- Rick
  18. Years ago I worked for a place that used Bondo many different ways. To thin it we used to add fiberglass resin and it worked very well. Bondo is actually fiberglass resin, fillers, and maybe a few other chemicals. Rick
  19. Thanks for the kind words!! It isn't really one of my best models, but it is one of my favorites............. Thanks Again, Rick
  20. I was cleaning up my photobucket a little, and stumbled on this one. I don't think it ever got posted anywhere. I started to wonder what it would look like as a two door. As I was cutting plastic and scribing new door lines, discovered a Sedan Delivery would look pretty cool.......
  21. Thanks for the answer, I guess I was hoping to see it better than on that little viewer on my little monitor. Oh well, I'll make the best of what have to work with. Rick
  22. Does anyone know if this will also be covered on Speedvision, Discovery channel or any others? We do have a CBS station here in Salt Lake, but if any member of of Utahs dominant religion sneezes more than twice today, it will pre-empt ALL other news stories...... Thanks, Rick
  23. Everything FlatbedKW said to do are all great guidelines for a stretch (or chop), but I usually add a piece of .010 plastic sheet cut to fit snugly to the inside of the frame rails for some added strength. I usually make it long enough to fit between the crossmembers, so unless you are specificly looking for the splice, it is not easy to see. Rick
  24. Wow, You know the winning bidder can't possibly be married. I am lucky enough to have a Very understanding wife, but I can just hear it now........ You spent $946.00 on WHAT!!! Rick
