  1. nick, It is the AMT `60 chevy built box stock. Just junked up a bit.
  2. This is a build I just completed for a 4 cly. oval Build off on another forum. Amt `77 Courier , PPP tires, Dupli-Color paint. This is not one of the most detailed builds I have done , But it has to be the most fun I have had in a while building. By the way Pop`s Texaco stepped on board as the primary sponser. Looks like she may have been running a little rich on the shakedown run.
  3. Thanks George. It was an honor to make the Top Ten.
  4. Southern NNL`s09 was GREAT as usual. The ACME club puts on a fantastic show each year and this was no exception. The show is always a good place to run into old friends and make new ones. Ton`s of super builds and super people.
  5. Awesome job ED! You captured the period correct look!
  6. Good looking start Sam! Chair is 1 nice piece of work.
  7. Let me start by saying, I build for self enjoyment but I like to share my builds with everyone. Double standards....I don`t think so. I only attend 2-3 shows a year. Do I go to win..........If I said I didn`t it would be a Farse. Everyone loves to win. Do I get Pissed if I don`t ......NO. I just enjoy meeting new people and talking about the hobby. If you stop and think about it.... with the avent of Model Forums...Is it not entering a show everytime you post a build. To me the best reward for a build is the compliments from other builders. I enjoy questions being asked and maybe helping pass ideas of how to do things on to others. Contest are a great place to meet new builders and share ideas. Cheat!......Why cheat....most of the time you are going to get caught......then you will look like dog-do in everyones eyes. I think someone posted earlier in this thread.......Most builders would rather have there builds in the Mags instead of winning. True...If you are in the mags it means builders around the world are looking at your build.......now thats one big show! In the last couple of years , I have gotten into building Dio`s. Now there is a subject that gets very little if any reconition at most shows and hardly any Mag coverage. I have made a lot of new friends that build Dio`s and weathered vehicles including Dr.Crankyand few others here on the forum. When we stop and think it over real hard.......Isn`t it supposed to be a Hobby......Not a life or death situation. Until something comes along and turns out the light on the Hobby for me , I will continue to build....post them on forums and attend shows....and with that said.......... I`ll see Gregg, Zoom Zoom, and the rest of the guys at the Southern NNL`s in Atlanta, Next Saturday. This is only the opinion of an "Old Fart" who builds "Tinker Toys" , as my wife calls them.
  8. Excellent build Wayne! Thanks for the tip on the dogs, I`ll look into that.
  9. Awesome job Wayne. I`ll be looking forward to seeing it in Atlanta.
  10. Thanks for the comments guys. Wayne look me up at Atlanta. Chuck and I are both bringing Dios. Should be some good eye candy in the Dio Section. Harry, to answer your question: I used 2 MRC Texaco stations with the tools ond accessories that come with them. Rest room sets, pay phones and ton of other goodies came from Scale Models By Chris. He has a lot of cool dio stuff from tools all the way to cardboard boxs. Scale Equipment LTD supplied a lot of the smaller detail items, desk sets and such, Fujimi Garage & Tools supplied tools and accessories. I bought a Great Garages kit years ago and it had tons of good detail items in it. Figures: Tamiya Campus Friends " Rally Mechanics Fujimi Figures and interior sets " Drivers Figures Alot of stuff was Scratch built, Tire Machine, Work Benchs, Lights, Electrical Outlets, Meter box, Breaker box. just to name a few. The Tree is a peice of California Silver Sage Brush with Woodland Senics detail foam added to it. A lot of the items were collected over the years, I`m somewhat of a pack rat. I enjoyed building it......well most of it........and hope everyone enjoys looking at it. Ron Royston
  11. I guess its close enough to call Complete:
  12. I`ll be there. It will be the 1st time out of the shop for the Dio I have been working on. Guys if you can only make 1 show a year , this is the one to go to.
  13. Thanks Ed. Now its down to the small details, I can tinker with them until November. Bill I have no idea how many hrs I have in it. I guess 3-4 hrs a day since I started it. If I had to guess, I would say around 3-4 hundred hrs.
  14. Getting close to being finished, added: vent pipes for gas storage tanks, meter box and weather head, lights to the over head I-Beams, gas pumps, oil cans, welder, lube man, shed over air compressor, and out side water hose. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b68/RonR1025/Dioramma/_A101219.jpg[/img
  15. Looking good Ed! Don`t ya just love detailing oil cans. I had to detail 52 of the little buggers.
  16. Cool build Carl! I like the driver pulling the cable to release the gravel. Nice touch!
  17. Just a few updates; Modified the lift, finished the compressor, added outside lights and an old rusty coupe sent to me from Australia. Geeze...........I wish those guys would flush the john and unplug the drop light when the are done.
  18. I dont like the lift either Ed......I`ll probaly modify it before I`m finished.......I did remeber one thing that was missing.......A discared tire pile:
