  3. I have had Ken`s book for years andI never get tired of going through it. It has been a lot of help with my Dio`s along with Ken`s personal suggestions. Excellent Book, Outstanding person.

  5. John, I love that Jocko Liner. That would be cool for someone to cast. I`ll take 2 please, LOL.
  6. Well I have 1 decent drag car built recently and here it is:
  7. The spring, Hair pins, Coil overs everything is Fantastic!!!!!!!
  8. 1 more, and you can detail a weathered model:
  9. I really can`t remember the last time I built a shinny model. Think it was 2-3 years ago Here are a few of mine from heavy to light.
  10. For Concrete i took Floquill concrete and painted a 2.0x2.0 pc of styrene. I took this to a Lowe`s store and they mixed me a pint to match. I used this combo on "Pop`s Texaco": Have them mix it in a Flat Latex. I rolled it on with a small roller and dusted it with pastels and fine sifted dirt. I used evergreen strips to make the h beams in the building.
  11. Few More: And .......They are off and running!
  12. I kinda like Dirt to:
  13. Just a few in progress shots of my "Salty Stude". Using a Crank Driven Latham supercharger. Engine set back 8". Will have a QC and Salt Flat tires by EYR.
  14. Eelco, A lot of home improvement stores that sell sheet foam insulation have pieces that are broken. If they are broken to much to be sold they will usally give away for the asking. I have associates at some of the local improvement stores save the broken ones for me. Might be worth a try. I like to use plaster cloth over foam for a base. Paint the base with an earth color and while it is still wet sprinkle on sifted dirt or what ever you are using for ground cover.
  15. Ben, Your project sounds like there will be a lot of room for detail. When I built Pops Texaco I used 1/2" Plywood with a frame built from 1" x 2"s. It was 26"x38" if I remember correctly. The surface was made from Durhams Rock Hard putty. When finished it took 2 people move it and set it up. A project the size of your is going to have some weight to it. If there is any thing I can help with just ask. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=22440&st=0&p=203062&hl=pops%20texaco&fromsearch=1&#entry203062
  16. Just a few photos from the Show: http://s17.photobucket.com/albums/b68/RonR1025/SOUTHERN%20NNL%202010/ Had a great time. Spent to much money,as always. Missed you not being there Gregg.
  17. I have been to the ACME show the last 6 years. If I could only attend 1 a year this would be it. Super bunch of guys who host the show. Vendors are great and coverage from Both the major mags. Several Hundred entries(never seen it under 500). Some of the Best modelers around displaying their builds. It does not get any better. Worth the Drive? You bet it is.
  18. See you guys there!
  19. I guess you could call the dio complete. A friend of mine from Kentucky wanted to build the hauler.....so here is what he built. I like to include builds from friends.....it makes them part of the build. What do you think. Now where did I put that half gallon of Peach Brandy for Jairus?
  20. Looking good Terry! I used Realistic water from Woodland Senics on the Whiskey Hollow dio. Pre-painted the creek bed with Pond Scum and canyon Black? from Timberline products. Worked out fairly well over the sifted sand base.
