hey jeff, its kinda like the little fish in a big pond there, or i could be the big fish in a little pond here, theres custom work here just not like LA, theres work to keep me busy because theres just not many custom painters here, today im working on a custom paint job for a motorcycle, and yesterday i just finished a airbrush grille and headlite job on a 65 falcon drag car, and more work lined up.it did get slow when it got cold here but now its warming back up so work flowing back in,last summer i was crasy busy, i do miss the model car action in california and if i ever do move back, and i may, it will be for the model shows and people, heres the falcon i finished yesterday, two days work, talk to you later, gary.

Hondo, what agreat build, this has always been my all time fav funnycar, when i was a kid i saw it blow up at lions drag strip, when i was about 12 or 13, my buddy grabbed the injector and sold it for 15 bucks before we even got out of the track and i grabbed a chunk of the body, if i remember rite it was the front fender half way trough the wheel well and about 2 feet back to the door, my mom threw it in the trash sone after getting it home. moms!! i belive it was at the last drag race for lions.

hey jeff, nice to hear from you, yes im still alive and kickin,i moved here and opened a custom paint shop, paint mostly choppers and hot rods, "BADSEED DESIGN STUDIO "i think about you about once a week, everytime i use one of your sanding sticks, i still have and use them all the time, thanks again for those, they have really come in handy over the years, the Uncertain Tree, i sold that rite before i moved here to the east coast, for those you who dont know what were talking about,a few years ago i started building my version of the Uncertain T show rod built back in the 60's,only mine had a woody body all made of wood, hence the name Uncertain " Tree " heres a picture of the real car as far as it got before i sold it,and a drawing of the gen idea i was going for, anyway jeff glad to see you here!

i open most my doors, not all,but most, plus the trunks, because i spend a lot of time on the interiors, and i want people to be able to look inside, plus for me it gives me more the fill of a real car, i mostly only do the drivers door, and this is because i spend a lot of time on the paint and design, so i leave the passager door closed as to not break up the design on one side of the car, ive never really liked the look of the hinges, they dont really look real at all,but it has become the norm and accepted among most modelers,as for just glueing them open, it just doesnt fill finished to me, and to tell you the truth,by the time i cram all the interior into them most of the time the doors wont even shut!! lol, but i sill hinge em anyway. -
thanks guys, im working on the nomad now, hope to post pics this week somthime.

so more cars ive done this way, hope this is of some help. -
heres a easy fast why to get a low rider, show car or custom interior, and i hope im not steping on anyones toes here, but a few guys have said they would like a how to on interiors and i know what works for me, im working on my c cab project, doing the interior panels, and since its a show rod it has to have a cool show rod interior right?,and since im doing it i may as well take a few shots of it and share it with the guys here on the site, this is an easy way and cost effective way to get that show car interior look. first take a foam plate, cut out the flat area, then mark out your patten or grid useing a ruler and pen, then scribe the tuff or tuck lines useing the back side of a plastic knife, then cut out the shapes of your interiors panels with a #11 blade, try the fit and trim as needed, apply a base color as close to the fuzzy fur your going to use,you can also make pipping useing colored electical wire, any q's just ask, have fun, i ll put more photos of mine once i chose a color,i may go with two shades of pink,im thinking pie wagon.ive added a few photos of done cars.

PART TWO, then , one more bend on both sides with needle nose pliers , & it should look like this,{see photo } ok this is Very Important ....... - In the center of the big rod , give it a slight tweak, - This will make your trunk\hood stay up ; and not fall down when open , -Next ; - From outside of car ; tape the trunk lid in place ; and flip car over and center and glue new hinge in place, THERE !!, - You should now have working hinge's !! with doors, trunks and hoods that open and close, good luck guys..HOPE THIS HELPS.Gary

sorry guys but i had to do this in two parts, could not post all photos at once,Ok some guys may know this aready, this is for the guys that dont and want to, , once you cut a hole in the top of a 42 year old model you payed too much for : - there's no turning back, after repairing the cut out rear wheel wells and making a set of fender skirts for the car, I wanted to open up the drivers door and trunk lid, Ive taken photos for you guys that may like to see how its done,at least how i do it, - First I start by scribing along the door\trunk lines with the back side of an #11 blade slowly { see photo } until it's cut all the way through, once you have the door\trunk cut out, take a look at how thick the edge is..... Way too thick to look like a real car ! , so your going to want to sand or file the inside edge thinner ; so when the door \truck\ hood is open it looks more realistic . - Now to make the hinges ; - For 1\25 scale cars I use .032 rd.brass rod and 1\16x.014 rd brass tube, - These ; I buy at hobbytown usa and you will also need the tools ( as shown ) { see photo} next you will cut 3 pieces of tube and one piece of the rod ..... { see photo } -Next ; take the rod and center it in the tube , and bend { see photo } ,then tape same part down to table { see photo } then use a slightly bigger tube , and tape down on top of the brass tube with wire { see photo }; then bend wire over top of bigger tube on both sides { see photo } - Now , you should have something like this {see photo } please go to part two.
