How do you detail brush?
hellonwheelz3 replied to thesnake87's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If I am off topic I apologize, but if I was going to do pinstriping like the intricate ones you see on the back of a '49 mercury, I would basically do like the tattoo artists do and trace the design on to some carbon paper. After the design is drawn onto the paper, when you peal the paper off (slowly) it will leave a basic sketch and you can use that as a template. -
No pics here either

Tips, Tricks and Tutorials
hellonwheelz3 replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've gotta agree with Charlie and some others. I have posted questions both in the General section and in the "tips, tricks and tutorials" section. I usually get much more help in the latter section. I do like the idea of having a "how do i..." section for us newbies! -
Pactra Racing Finish Paints
hellonwheelz3 replied to jsimmons's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I thought pactra was more often used on rc bodies? I know i am a newbie, and farbeit for me to argue the veterans of this hobby. Just sayin'. -
From one Earnhardt fan to another, where's the pics! Can't wait to see them

I read a few days ago that 70 degrees is the ideal temperature for primering or painting. Since i dont have a shop, my model room is an unused bedroom in our house. Whenever I paint, i ALWAYS open the window beforehand. Its still pretty cool outside and im concerned what will happen if i paint and the room gets cool. I dont have and cant afford a spray booth.

Ok I have to say that I really didnt care about WHO everybody was wearing. Kate was stunning, William looked good (i like the look of the armed forces uniforms), but the cars ROCKED. the little Aston Martin was cool, the Bentleys were beautiful. I wonder who will make models of the royal cars?

I was watching mecum auction today ad one of the cars that came onto the block hat "r/t" in the description. What does that mean?

I'll defintely have a good thought for you and your family. My nephew was born with TGA (transversion of the greater arteries) and is doing great at 3 years old. Again, you have my thoughts

I was just looking at Model Car Garage's website, and went to download the catalog. From what I saw, the latest catalog they have to download is from 2006? Is that true? Are they still around?

Alright guys (and gals), Its coming up on Christmas time again and I've been saving my money to replace the air compressor I got last year for Christmas. Right now I am using the little blue aztec compressor that I got from my LHS. Can some of you (hopefully lots of you) put up some pics of the compressors you guys use to create your works of art. I am looking for one that is relatively quiet because my model room is part of the house. I do not have a garage that I can work in. Any ideas would be fantastic. Thanks again guys! I will also be posting this in the "general" section, just so you know

That is one HOT rod! what color purple did you use on the body? I have something very similar to it, called purplicious. anyway great job!
-
OK, so I want to do a build of Tim "The Toolman" Taylor's blue 33 ford hot rod. I have found some paint that is really close to the color that is on the 1:1, but I am having a helluva time finding the model. I have only found the 32 and the 34 that revell does. None of those are roadsters, just coupes or sedans. Does anyone have recommendations? What body should I get to do modifications on? will the grill of a 32 fit a 33 body?

I am getting ready to start on a 1968 corvette 2'n'1. I decided after a long LONG time, that I will be doing the car in testors "purplicious". I have some light grey primer, but i'm not sure if i want to put anything else between the primer coats and the final coats of purple. This particular color of purple is a metal flake. Any hints?

This is just a test

ITS ME AGAIN with another question. I wanted to put a funny quote to go along with my personal information. As long as they aren't TOO offensive and have no swearing, is that ok? -
IF this had been an actual...oh nevermind, I'm just making sure my signature still works. I haven't been on the forums in awhile. I actually had to read the directions in order to remember how to post my real name.

I was with my model club yesterday at my lhs and noticed that they now carry tamiya polishing compound, both the blue box and the red. I have only been in the hobby for a year or so, and have spent more time working on techniques for building and have yet to work on a good paint job. Well I finally got one to turn out really good (in my opinion) and need some help with polishing. Have any of you ever used this particular polishing compound or would I be wasting my time? Thanks!

I am looking to do a tribute model of the 33 ford that Tim "the toolman" Taylor built on Home improvement. Which company does the best rendition of the 33? Also does anyone happen to know what shade of blue that car was?

Acrylic, Enamel ?
hellonwheelz3 replied to Van Halen's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have been using both enamels and laquers in the five or so years I have been building models. I will admit that I have only recently started using lacquers. I've sprayed and I've airbrushed. So far, I actually prefer the rattle can option with lacquer paints over the enamel paints. As long as you do the body work and lay down a coat of primer that is as smooth as glass, your lacquer will come out GREAT
