  1. Medical tape is going to have way too large a pattern for 1/24-25 kits. This is the best tutorial I've seen on the subject, and I think it's totally unrealistic. Do you want a vinyl or cloth headliner? As for me, I would use very thin plastic or card stock, cut the template as shown in the tutorial, and VERY lightly score where the seams should be. Or just score the seams on the inside of the kit roof. Then paint to the desired finish. http://italianhorses.net/Tutorials/Headliners/hliner.htm
  2. What brand and color of paint did you use?
  3. The images are very large, but they're thumbnails and you have to click on them to enlarge them. For me, they're too dark to tell much.
  4. This seems to come under the subject being discussed in the current thread, "Underrated Cars (kits)". Even a poor kit can be made into a showpiece with the right skill and attention.
  5. Here's one with a GT40 engine. http://www.britishv8.org/triumph/derylewilliams.htm
  6. Many are the same, but some are different. Sounds like a good subject for in-depth research. (But I think you'll need to go closer to 5" or 6")
  7. Could be that it's just temporary fun until they apply all the decals for races, though they don't use a lot of decals. No need to camouflage a race car. (Don't forget, this comes from the same people who brought you the Pink Pig.)
  8. From Ultimatecarpage.com (Click on blue copy for more info): 2013-06-12: New Porsche LMP1 Le Mans racer and other news ... Already some time under development, Porsche's highly anticipated LMP1 finally broke cover today. It was captured at the first test on the German manufacturer's own Weissach track. Although few technical details have been released, it is well known the car will use a petrol-hybrid drivetrain. The car is also not developed by the Porsche Motorsport department but actually by the company's Research & Development department because its purpose stretches well beyond returning Porsche to top sport in endurance racing. The car is also a rolling test-bed for future technologies and fits in the philosophy of development through racing. Works drivers Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas will extensively test the Porsche LMP1 this year ahead of its competition debut in 2014.
  9. The most impressive 500K kit in 1/24-25 is the Jo-Han 500K Roadster Limousine (let me know if you want info on this infamous car). Beautifully molded and detailed in the original Gold Cup version, not so good in the reissued version with a red body.
  10. I want to assemble a 1/16 engine for parts fit, which I will take apart after I do so. What's the best temporary adhesive (this is too complicated for tape), how would you apply it properly, and how do you remove it cleanly? My only guess is rubber cement.
  11. I'm sure this will be a masterpiece. What scale is the kit? Looks like 1/8 or 1/12. I've heard so much criticism about parts not fitting well in the 1/16 Heller DS 19 that I'm interested in how this works out.
  12. Very nice.
  13. For teeny parts like you describe, I find that the Prismacolor fine-point paint pens in metallic silver are the brightest you can get, though not true chrome. Perfect for dash details, too.
  14. Prismacolor makes fine-point paint pens that go on very smoothly, and the colors are thick enough that you don't need to go over again too much. PS: Having owned a few Alfas, painted script would not be authentic stock.
  15. Wow. Seems like they chromed ALL of any piece that had chrome on it, instead of molding separate chrome pieces. Looks like you have a lot of work ahead. Are you making any progress on the 1/16 300 SL cabrio? I'm hoping to see more.
  16. Once again, you've done a spectacular job. What is the paint name/code of the Duplicolor? Looks just like what I've been seeking for my 1/25 Maserati.
  17. I have a 1/16 Bugatti T59 with a diecast body. The upper part of the body has a row of rivets molded along the length of the body; the rivets are inaccurate and need to be removed without damaging the smoothness of that part of the body. I haven't done this kind of work on metal before. I have a cordless Dremel, and was wondering if there is an attachment with the proper grit for a sanding wheel, or if I should use a sanding block. Any suggestions for the kind of grit, or other way of removing the rivets? A metal file? I also need to reposition some openings in the body -- what kind of cutting tool would be best to use?
  18. So, seeing that this thread is 3 years old, what did you settle on, Monty? Are you happy with it?
  19. Yes, we have -- and still are. You're posting on a continuation of the same 2007 thread. Take a look at the original post on this thread.
  20. They recently dug up the grave of Richard III, who died in 1485, proving that there is SOME dirt that's older than I am.
  21. Superb in any scale, unbelievable in this scale. Would be a good part of a diorama for a flea circus.
  22. Here's a 3D-printed 1/12 Aston Martin racing engine, done as a rapid prototype for casting...scroll about a third of the way down. http://www.scalemotorcars.com/forum/large-scale-cars/56490-1-12-lola.html
