  1. True. And you've done a great job.
  2. The front fenders are a little too "humped" on top, like the Italeri Gullwing version, but otherwise it's a beautifully detailed kit with the best engine and interior available for a 300 SL model. Supposedly, it's a scaled-up clone of the Italeri/Testors 1/24 kit, but I think this 1/16 has better detail. I love the way François is going with this and I think it's going to be stunning. The kit was also issued in an extremely rare Revell version with electronic headlights. There's one on eBay right now. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercedes-Benz-300-SL-Roadster-1-16-Scale-Electronic-Revell-Model-Kit-Mint-in-Box-/360672514411?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item53f9c1d16b
  3. The plastic #11 X-Acto blade dispensers include a slot for used blades to be inserted -- sort of like the old Gillette double edged razor blade dispensers. Don't know about various other types of blades besides #11, but soda (or beer) cans, as mentioned, are a good idea.
  4. Where do you find the command to rescale?
  5. Been around a long time and worked great for me (also great for its original purpose, to remove baked-on junk for cooking pans).
  6. Some don't seem to get the idea of it. Please read Harry's post again. Anything you "pay forward" is without any expectation of getting paid back yourself. That's why it's forward, not backward.
  7. Terrific work, fine detail, and very nice photography.
  8. What's the advantage of Duplicolor filler primer; i.e., how does it work differently from other primers?
  9. Has anybody used one of these? I've got one sitting in a box I haven't unpacked yet.
  10. For a spray paint rack, I use a wire spice rack (Target) that can be hung on a wall. Mine have 3 shelves each, 6" high between shelves, 2.5" deep. Mine holds up to 5 regular spray cans per shelf. Sort of like this one.
  11. This one was too clever by half -- an Australian version with right-hand drive.
  12. Time to state the obvious. There are famous pro modelers who are masters of their trade -- Gerald Wingrove, Juha Airio, the staff at Amalgam, Marvin and Jorge at modelmotorcars.com, Misko, Fine Art Models, etc. etc. etc., and a few others who are members here (I won't name them for fear of leaving anyone out). They sell models for hundreds of dollars, up to 5 figures. They write books. They have well-developed websites. It doesn't matter what category of models they build, and many of them cover a spectrum. As long as you've got a steady stream of customers who give you a living, you're a pro modeler, regardless of the level of quality. As an ad agency creative director, I had to review the portfolios of multiple "professional" designers and art directors, and I don't know how many of them could support themselves with such a low quality of work. As stated time after time here, the people who call themselves "pro modelers" on eBay are usually blowing smoke up everyone's wazoo, primarily their own.
  13. Wow. Never seen that Hispano Suiza before -- must be very valuable.
  14. Thanks, Noel. What brand and color of paint did you use for the body?
  15. Looking good. What parts have tissue? PS: The windshield shape is clearly wrong on This kit. Do you have plans to modify it? One other error in the kit is that the nose badge decal is the red & black logo from the 1920s-30s, and should be the current blue and silver laurel design.
  16. NASA is experimenting with 3D printers to print food. So far, they've printed a cracker-size pizza.
  17. What do you mean by Little Pages? Were these about the size of Reader's Digest?
  18. Caroline Bugatti is certainly right up there with other Bugatti designs.
  19. Instead of 2 motorcycles, it should have been escorted by a brigade of Humvees. (I know about the dangers of the French. I was tear-gassed by the riot police during the student demonstrations in 1968 - just an innocent bystander at a sidewalk café)
  20. Stunning. It must be amazing to see something like that on the street. Surprisingly quiet.
  21. Since your ID is a bit unusually stated...are you from the Brittany area of Paris or from Bretagne? And is your name Gasnier Francois or Francois Gasnier? Just curious. But whatever, your work is very superior.
  22. To see what a spectacular job he did on the Napoleon - especially recreating the correct passenger interior pattern (painted with a brush!) - check this out. http://onlycarsandcars.blogspot.com/2010/09/bugatti-type-41-royale-coupe-napoleon.html
  23. The biggest issue with all these kits is making the wire wheels more acceptable, a common problem with any 1/24-25 kit, as well as some 1/16 models. In 1/16, I use needle files to thin out the outer wires only. In smaller scales, look for Herb Deeks wire wheels on eBay.
  24. When I go to a hospice in my final days, the only thing I would want to take with me is a laptop with WiFi and a full-size keyboard.
