  1. I'd like to see a Matra V-12!
  2. Great builds of two classic kits!
  3. Great job, that's one of my favorite old kits.
  4. No pics but my daily driver is a 2005 Chevy Cobalt LT sedan that is black with neutral leather and my toy is a 1996 Chevy Impala SS that is black with gray leather. I've had the SS since 1998.
  5. Looks great!
  6. The Drag-On-Lady AMX has a shortened chassis from the Javelin and Javelin/AMX Trans Am racer kits that Jo-Han did....no molded in exhaust like the stock kit, but the front suspension and rear axle are molded in. It also has a separate stock style gas tank. The engine is a mismatch of early/late AMC V-8 parts...Jo-Han never did a totally correct late AMC V-8, they all share at least some parts with the 327 originally tooled for the 66 Marlin annual. Like all re-issue AMX kits the interior bucket is from the 1970 with the 1968 style dash. The body is typically Jo-Han nicely done though.
  7. Think it is 71st and Greenfield....a couple blocks west of the K-Mart built where Allis-Chalmers was.
  8. I see you are in Madison, next time you're in Milwaukee stop in at Pastimes Hobby Shop on Watertown Plank Road in Elm Grove or Model Empire on Greenfield Ave, in West Allis, both carry flocking in many colors.
  9. I saw a Sublime one yesterday at the local dealer, I'm not much of a fan of the Charger, but that color on that big of a car gets your attention.
  10. I like it, I'm on my second tube......the big tube has developed a leak down by the folded crimp on the end opposite the cap though so be careful with yours. It sands nice and doesn't seem to shrink....the way I've mixed it at least, it seems to set up slower compared to 1:1 car 2 part putties I've used in the past so I tend to let it sit overnight before sanding or filing on it.
  11. Thanks guys. This is a one-piece window unit too. Now I just need to try it....
  12. I haven't tried it yet, thought I'd ask first. Working on an Aoshima R34 Skyline, want to tint the windows some with Tamiya smoke spray. I'm thinking of spraying the inside of the glass. Any tips on avoiding darker edges? Would it be a good idea to lightly sand (wet sand????) the windows with a very fine sand paper to give a little "bite", was thinking that might help avoid the paint pooling on edges and being darker there.
  13. There is a discussion forum at Heli-Kit News that is pretty active. Hopefully this link will work.... http://www.network54.com/forum/163130/
  14. OK, thanks. I just always assumed they'd have to ship paint on the slow boat, so I've never tried to order any from them.
  15. Bob, what are the shipping options when ordering spray paints from HLJ? Probably close to 15 years ago now you could buy the Gunze spray clears in some local hobby shops around Chicago, it was good stuff especially in the pre-Tamiya spray days. I used to use the satin (or was it semi-gloss??) clear quite a bit....used up what I had probably 5 years ago, think I might still have a can of gloss that's maybe 1/4 full.
  16. Rob, I think I still have mine too, it's green if I remember right. From what I remember it was in a 4 pack with a red Celica Supra, a black 280 ZX and a blue RX-7. Pretty sure I still have all 4 but they're very played with.
  17. They do have shipping rate tables under FAQ, they recommend EMS but will ship SAL. I'm tempted by this one too, looking forward to Marc posting pics of the parts. It is strange that HLJ doesn't have this kit, wonder why?
  18. Ok, thanks. Is this a division of Aoshima? Have you ordered from them before and did it all go OK? I did find that HLJ still has pictures of a built Imai kit if you do a search including discontinued items.
  19. That might be the Imai kit, pretty sure Aoshima has been releasing old Imai kits. The picture shows a built up from the side of my Imai Nissan Pulsar kit box. It looks pretty good in the picture. I've been keeping my eyes open for one, by time I bought the Pulsar Imai was already out of business. I was looking at HLJ a few days ago, but missed this one. The Pulsar kit isn't bad at all, kind of like an 80s Tamiya motorized kit.
  20. Very nice!
  21. I have a Testors Ferrari 308 GTB (kit #384), it is the Gunze kit reboxed.
  22. I used the Testors Decal Bonder spray with good results on a set of Billy Gooche decals.
  23. Have any of you guys tried Tamiya's Light-Curing Putty (Item 87076)? Any insights or tips? I bought a tube of this last week from Tower Hobbies, it isn't cheap at $12+ for a 34g tube which is about the same size as Tamiya's Basic Putty. The description is very interesting, there is no mixing and it cures after 1 minute in direct sunlight or two minutes under flourescent light and supposedly has minimal shrinkage. The directions are pretty detailed (and in Engish!) you have to be careful about the light you use in in though and they give you a heavy black plastic bag to store the tube in.
