  1. I think that is from one of the late 70s/ early 80s Revell sets where there was a car or truck pulling a trailer with something on it. Typical tow vehicles included the early Fox-bodied Mustang and Datsun pick up.
  2. Is Round 2 still reissuing those surfer figures? I had them on pre-order and the order was cancelled several months ago.
  3. Original retail on the Big Deuce was $14.98.
  4. Wow, 1/24 scale. Very cool. Thanks for the info. This goes on to my want list. I have a major soft spot for French cars, not to mention French model kits of French cars.
  5. I have two partial Record Florides that came off U.S. eBay maybe 5 or 6 years ago. It's a pretty nice kit, very similar in parts breakdown and detail to the multi-piece body Revell sports cars like the 1959 Corvette, Porsche 356 Speedster, and Austin Healey 100-6. I've never seen that Matra before. What scale is that?
  6. Does anybody know if one of the still available Testors enamel metalfalkes is the old Testors Roth paint for this kit from the 1960s? I'm thinking it might be the Metalflake Purple in the little square jar, but I'm not sure.
  7. The resin copies were improved with much better tread detailing than the original Revell tires. The original tires are still available in other kits too. The fronts are used on the Beatnik Bandit, but the tooling has seen better days. The rears should be in the reissue of the Roth '56 Ford pickup...they were in the first issue of that kit at least.
  8. I haven't seen the new kit yet, but there is a good point about them using the Rat Rod tires. Those tires were designed to fit old Revell wheels, so the new wheels should be sized like Sixties-era Revell wheels and fit the original tires. So if you have the original tires (or somebody casts them in resin) it should be an easy swap.
  9. The AMT kits are curbside (no engine, simplified chassis, etc.) and are basically unassembled versions of the Challenger promos that AMT also sells. Revell's kit is a more traditional glue kit with full engine detail etc. AMT makes the 2009 R/T, 2010 R/T Classic and the 2008 & 2010 SRT8. From memory, the main differences between the various kits are the wheels, front spoiler, and decals. Both 2010 kits have added disk brake detail that wasn't in the '08 & '09 kits. Also the wheels are different between the two R/Ts. Revell's kit is a 2009 SRT8. I'd say any of them are livable, it just depends on what you're looking for.
  10. The most recent release of the Orange Crate (the one with the resin hood from about 10 years ago) used Revell's solid one-piece M&H Racemaster slicks on the back, so I'd expect this issue will too.
  11. Tower Hobbies has discounted pricing for multiples of the same kit.
  12. My family had a 1977 AMC Hornet that was purchased new. The Gremlin used a short-wheelbase version on the Hornet's basic unibody chassis. I remember the Hornet having a vertical flange that hung below the rocker on each side. I think it was about an inch tall, and there were notches front and rear that were locations for the factory scissor jack. I know it looks kinda goofy on the kit how it hangs down, but it might be correct that way.
  13. Yeah, I built the 76 Gremlin when it was a new kit (and the 74 funny car before that) and that front grille piece never really fit. It was always too wide. The Gremlin kit wasn't one of AMT's best offerings in the 70s, but I'm still glad it was reissued.
  14. OK, thanks. Hopefully Squadron will get it eventually. They seem to be the best Heller source in the States.
  15. Does anyone know of a source for this kit in the US?
  16. As others have said, the Revell Jaguar roadster is the old circa-1962 Revell 1/25-scale kit. It was in a Road&Track 3-pack in the 1980s, then in SSP with original box art. I think the last issue, at least in the U.S. was as the Austin Powers Shaguar. Monogram and Revell/Monogram have reissued the old Aurora coupe at lest three times since the late 1970s (think it last appeared in SSP using the old Aurora box with Revell logos). The Aurora roadster has never been reissued by Monogram or Revell-Monogram.
  17. The Monogram 2D body is from Daytona '66 practice. Jon Cole's model shown earlier in this thread has the oil (?) cooler on the rear bodywork that was added for the race. I haven't seen the Fujimi kit yet. Is it a reissue of the Modeler's kit? Modeler's made a really nice curbside 2D that could be built as the '66 Nurburgring winner or '66 LeMans version. Modelers also offered two different versions of this basic kit with resin bodies for Daytona '66 or Sebring '66.
  18. Mark is correct that the Revell 29 A had a different stock tire mold than the one used in the Sedan/Woody kit. I dug out my original 29 A kit and the sidewall detail appears to say 20 x 4.50. The poster who said the spare tire well was eliminated is also correct. It was eliminated for the Hot Rod magazine series release, and the Hot Rod kit used a completely different chrome tree as well. The Rat Rod issue went back to the original chrome mold. The louvers on the hood sides were eliminated for the Hot Rod kit too, but they were restored for the Rat Rod release.
  19. I had one on back order from Tower Hobbies, the mailman delivered it Friday. Only had a chance for a quick look so far, but it looks nice.
  20. As I understand it, the Lee Caddy kit is a copy of the Arri kit. I have a Heller boxed version of the Lee kit I picked up cheap several years ago. It has been a long time since I looked at it, but I remember it being disappointing and not to the quality level of a typical Revell or AMT kit. You might try posting this question on Hobby Heaven, I'm pretty sure somebody over there (maybe Jeff Corey) built the Lee kit as a custom surf wagon.
  21. Both are MPC kits. The top pic is an old in-progress shot of my IMSA Monza street machine next to my blue 75 Buick Skyhawk. Bottom two pics show the Monza complete, it was built for the "That 70s NNL" theme at the 2006 Milwaukee NNL.
  22. I think you can get the Directory through Model Empire. I was in their store in West Allis, WI yesterday and I'm pretty sure I saw it on the counter. I have no idea what edition it was.
  23. I was in the Racine, WI HL last week, all AMT kits were on clearance there too.
  24. The sheet you are talking about was in at least one SSP re-issue during the 1990s, pretty sure it was the orange 70 Camaro funny car, can't remember the name for sure...think it was Heavy Hugger or something similar.
  25. The parts pack body is similar to the Revell Tweedy Pie body (and later variants) with typical early 60s Revell quality. From memory, you get the choice of a turtle deck or pick up box, a belly pan, a radiator shell and little else.
