  1. Actually there were quite a few 4 barrel equipped 440 Road Runner/GTXs produced in '72-'74- the '72 4 barrel was even available with a 4 speed and Dana 60 driveline. The 4 barrel 440 cars all seem to have had small GTX emblems in addition to the regular Road Runner trim There were a handful of 440 six barrel cars produced- very early in the model year as this engine was cancelled- two Chargers and one Road Runner still exist- the Road Runner not having GTX emblems. The 6 barrel was available with an auto trans only soall had the 8 3/4 rear
  2. Neither kit is particularly accurate- although the '68 is much better than the '69- and the hood's a decent fit
  3. Missing link also offers a resin Ford engine compartment for just a couple bucks
  4. The "Barracuda" scripts on the doors look a bit "busy" with the 'cuda gills- probably why the 1:1 cars didn't use that arrangement
  5. The stock 69 GTX included the Hemi- stock or cross ram but no twin cam heads as well as the 440 with both 4 or 6 barrel induction
  6. There are also versions available with no vinyl top- the earlier (but still readily available) Dick Landy '68 kit features the '69 side marker reflectors and no vinyl top
  7. Would hate to guess a specific caster from am ebay pic- basically a copy of the the MPC 75 Laguna (also released in the "Cannonball Run" series as the Hawaiian Tropic car)
  8. The upper part of the "custom" front included might be an easier start for fabricating the later grille
  9. Correct chassis and interior for a curbside are already there in the Revell '77 Monte The NASCAR rear wheelwells look like they could be used as a basis for stock front openings
  10. Looks like he sells quite a bit
  11. The full size wagons were even bigger- the Ford products were wide enough they made the "third row" seats face each other rather than backwards Ford called their tailgate design the "Magic Doorgate" - not quite as trick as the 71-76 GMs which had the clamshell with the halves that disappeared into the roof and floor
  12. If this is is the panel you're looking for it looks like it was included in the 67 and 68 annuals
  13. Is the tail treatment the same as the "custom" parts from the earlier annuals? I got some incomplete buildups including a 67 and 68 annuals- one had been built custom with the "GT" rear panel
  14. Asa side note- 91% isopropyl alcohol (from the drug store) works great for stripping the pre-painted AMTs where other strippers don't seem to do much
  15. Probably the easiest way to do it in scale is to build in some friction between the rod and body
  16. What do you mean by work? Dampen the movement of the springs like a 1:1?
  17. But before '70 the manufacturer had to also sell the same size engine hence the street Chevy 302 and Ford Cleveland 302s The 70 rule change allowed the destroked engines for racing- most dramatic difference was probably the Pontiac Firebird- race cars ran 303 cubes- the street version 455
  18. Staying with the kit engine on this one- added the crude power steering pump from an AMT Challenger and a few homemade detail bits Mockup with a coat of color Also did a "test shot" on regular paper of the green stripes
  19. Look a lot like the ones from the '74 Charger annual
  20. In the time frame you mentioned GM really wasn't competitive in NASCAR
  21. The Johan body is a lot nicer- Vaughn Hart offers a Road Runner grille for the GTX kit
  22. The AMT '71 Duster has a nice 3 speed wiper motor
  23. Get the AMT Road Runner GTX as a chassis donor if you want bucket seats, the '68 Road Runner if you want a bench seat- the GTX also comes with a 440 engine and your choice of 4 or 6 barrel carburetion if you don't want to build a Hemi
  24. Kept it simple on the chassis- am keeping it close to out of the box to keep the "vintage MPC feel" Another mockup with the wheels and tires painted and an intitial coat of primer, still some bodywork to do
