doing trades with MCM members
Bridgebuster replied to route66modeler's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
OK, I know I'll look like an idiot here, but inquiring minds want to know. I admit that I don't hang out in here as much as I'd like, but I wasn't aware that Ken had "un-moderated". So is there someone else or are we just adrift? I've had one person on "that other forum" burn me. No big deal, I would have given him the parts for nothing, but HE offered the trade, then stiffed me and started ignoring emails and PMs. I've had MANY good trades on this board, in fact none bad. I've made some good friends here and, yes, I've sent a number of parts out for free just to help a brother out (and a sister, counting Michelle). I usually prefer to assume somebody trustworthy until they prove to be otherwise. -
Attaboy Doc, go for it. We're pullin' for ya.

eBay is simply crazy
Bridgebuster replied to Fabrux's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You wanna see crazy????? This IS a cool kit and IT IS OOP, but seriously??? http://www.ebay.com/itm/110799926868?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 As has been said here, anything is worth what the market will bear; no more, no less. Good luck to those folks bidding on this one. I have to use an oxygen mask to even look at this one. -

Workbench lighting
Bridgebuster replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
For once, Harry, the label is telling the truth. LED lights use only about 10-15% of the power of incandescent bulbs. The Doc is right too, in that they are a higher temp range and do have much more "daylight looking" light and NO HEAT!!! I got one at Target that has a LED and is a flexible gooseneck extension and clamps onto my lowest shelf above the workbench. I can move it around to change the intensity of the light directly on the work. Really nice setup! -
Nick, use one of the AMT 72 Chevelles for the rear end. For that area of the car, 71 and 72 are the same. LOVE those Chevelles!! My son and I rebuilt a 71 for his first car. LOVE that big-block torque!!!!

Hey Dick. The decals got here yesterday and they are just super cool!! Thank you my friend. I'm in your debt. Please call on me if you need anything that I might have.

Steve, you're doing a terrific job on this. The paint job is absolute perfection. I've got one too and am trying to map out the project. What engine did you source to put in? I can't see the bottom of the "engine well"; did you cut out the chassis to add full detail? Thanks! Keep posting pics as you go. That is such a cool car!!!

A short while back, somebody had posted that they were looking for a 71 Mustang. There's a handful of them on eBay for pretty reasonable right now.

Where do I get a Motor?
Bridgebuster replied to little dog daddy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah, Rob, and I agree with you, but he wanted one already wired and doesn't seem to want to build one. He could plug in one of the PTX mills until he gets a few builds under his belt, then swap in an engine HE built and wired. Only stopgap measure I could think of. -

Rememberance Day 11/11/11
Bridgebuster replied to MachinistMark's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Changed my avatar to my dad's squadron insignia. I want to honor my dad, his squadron and all vets. Well done dad. Thank you vets for your service. Sadly, Ive watched his squadron dwindling down every year with the loss of some of the finest men I've ever met. Remembering the 490th Bombardment Squadron . . . The Burma Bridge Busters. (hence my handle) Silent Sleep by Lloyd Klar 341st Bombardment Group (11th, 22nd, 490th, 491st) Her great roaring engines are long silent, Her guns are pitted with rust. Olive drab paint is flaking and faded, Turrets are covered with dust. She sits and waits for her crewmen, Those young men from another day. Fifty long years have passed and gone, Since they all went away. Where have all those young men gone, Those boys she knew so well? They took her there and brought her back, What stories they can tell. Some are buried in foreign lands, War records tell the place. ”Killed In Action” the official words, Or just “KIA” to save space. Others went down in a fiery crash, Just where, no one can tell; Over Burma jungles or China cliffs— No markers where they fell. Others came home, the war was over, We disipated like the dew. Then separately we all went our ways, Back to lives we knew. But in every airman’s inner thoughts, Quiet moments as day ends, We hear again those engines roar And voices of our friends. Now we’re aging and almost grey; Again friends are starting to fall. They’re going now into that long last sleep That comes one day to us all. So here’s to our fellow comrades, Those still here, or passed away, We’ll remember you as you once were In a distant place and day. As we stand here now in silence, We’ll think of you and smile. Get ready for that final briefing; We’ll join you in a while. -

No, but I should. I'm buddies with Kyle Smith, and maintain his website. I'll take this to PM. -
Anyone here play guitar?
Bridgebuster replied to SuperStockAndy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I play a drum kit . . . have been for 45 years, off and on. I still have my 1964 Ludwig chrome snare drum. Also play a killer custom 5 string banjo. My son plays a Guild Bluesbird P90 and a PRS Tremonti Tribal (#50 out of 100 made) My daughter plays a beautiful PRS Standard 24, the wood is natural finish. -
OK, I'm a bigger smart_$$ than just about anyone in the world, so don't go there. I've seen references to "frenching" tail lights" etc. What does that mean, and what does it entail to do this. My skill level is pretty low so I need to find out whether I can do this technique before I get in over my head. Thanks bunches!
