i was shocked to see that AN compression fittings were so expensive. they are like 10 bucks for a pinky full at my local model shop and more after shipping on Feebay. i found some 2mm and 2.5mm beads at hobby lobby that could be used but they are round. any ideas so i dont have to knock over an ATM just to be able to detail an engine

hello gregg i have learned a bunch from watching Japanese Tamiya model masters on Youtube. only thing is i cant understand what they say. it would be way cool if you made a section on our site for video tutorials in one of the forums. some of our modeling legends could make some videos and post them on youtube and link them on this site. i think it is easier to watch someone do something than to read and hope you are getting it correct. just my idea to make our world better.

this was my first model in a long time. i was building it while i worked on my model room. i call it my warm up kit. it is a fujimia Veilslide S14 (Spelling) kit. it is basically a copy of my first nissan 240sx. i used scale motorsports carbon fiber for the hood and sprayed the headlight buckets chrome silver with a spot of light blue to make it look like hiper white light bulbs. this kit was trash. nothing fit and the windows did not come with a mask and they did not have etching where the black window trim should be. i did not paint it in because i thought i would make matters worse if i tried. i did use a set of skyline r32 wheels for a deep and wide look on the rear and set the bottom of the kit above where it should have fit to lower the front of the car. i think it came out good considering it was constructed on my wife's kitchen table and the first car in like 6 years. thaks for looking

this could be the most fun model that i have put together to date. if you have 30 bucks and a ebay accout, please try this model. it comes with decals for team xanavi and team Motul. i might even do the Motul just because it was such a pleasure to put together. the way they worked the glasses in gar made it fool proof. I added some Kevlar decals to the inner wheel wells and carbon fiber to the rear spoiler.

i tried the decanting method with a straw and airbrushed the lines in my car. it worked great. it did take about 3 hrs for the paint to gas off all of the propellant. found that out the hard way after i closed the lid 2hrs into to the process. paint went every where. i will post pics when i get back from a trip to Va. beach. thanks for the tips. i love this site

i am using tamiya red spray can over tamiya primer. the primer dried for a week. i put down a very light paint coat in the areas around doors and trunk lines. i let it tack and i sprayed the second coat of red paint. the door lines became pink. Should i forge on with a third coat or is it punt time. what did i do wrong? Should i may de-can the paint and air brush in the door lines. i have not had this problem when airbrushing other cars.

This is my home made down draft booth. I used a fan and controls out of an oven vent, poked a bunch of holes in the shelf, made it so i could remove the shelf to replace the filter and vented it to the eve of my house. I used some cork board to hang up the kit direction and parts trees to keep them off of my bench when not needed. The side of the booth is removable for larger projects. I made some shelves for paint and tools This contraption is my compressor. I hung it close to the ceiling to get it out of the way.

anyone know how to make a nitrous bottle
lanesteele240 replied to doug2013's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
you can doctor up a fire extinguisher off of a NASCAR race car to look like a NOS bottle. just cut off some of the extinguisher parts and add a guage made out of a 1/16 long piece of sprue. spray it silver and it looks almost like one. -
it would be cool if you were to close off the back side windows and add the mustang window covers. you model is cool any way.

hello. i found a another use for those roadside election signs that get left over. one is to hold targets when shooting your firearms (into a dirt bank of coarse). the other is, cut it down in size and it makes for a good surface to cut decals and masking tape with a blade. you can plop it down on the wife's new table and cut out your mask or decal and the blade never touches the wood. they wont take the sticky off of tape so you can put down some masking tape and cut out thin strips or a mask. btw. it is illegal to tamper with election signs. After the election is over they will be glad you got them up. thanks
