  1. My camera is broken s I cant take any pics right now but Im working on th old AMT 58 Impala that a good buddy of mine gave me because it was one of my favorites as a kid and Im doing the Rommels Rod in panzer gray just to be different.. The gray color gives it a much more sinister look than the tan. Hope to have pics soon. Just finished a Tamiya Karmann Ghia done as a car that my best high school buddy drove.
  2. Yessiree Bob! Now thats what Im talkin about. Larry Watson Bellflower style.
  3. Holy frijoles thats an awesome paint job! I can see abstract faces in the right quarter panel ( no, I havent been smoking anything) . Ive seen swirl paint jobs before but this one has such an intricate pattern to it that invites a close look. Did you use the dipping method?
  4. Thanks for the comments everyone. Built this one as a quick no stress job. Only things not from the box are the steelies from the AMT 60 Corvette kit and the scratchbuilt thermostat housing and radiator hose. Made some subtle changes that arent really noticable at first glance. Adjusted the angle of the body on the frame which required chopping up the firewall. If built unaltered the body sits lower in the back than in the front and this just would not do! Moved the front axle forward a little along with the radiator. lowered the radiator as it should never sit higher than the top of the cowl IMO. It really should be sectioned though as a speed bump would take out the bottom of the grille shell. Also should move the headlights forward too. Built it as a low budget backyard job would have been done by using what is at hand. It is crying out for some finned brake drums but I dont have any. I split the front wishbone just like they did the real thing - cut the balljoint off the rear and carefully bent the rods out until they could be attached to the frame rails.
  5. Some of THE best work I have ever seen! Like looking at the real thing.
  6. Dont laugh... dont laugh. Just got the Red Baron today. Just wanted it for the nostalgia factor. It still comes with the little triplane too.
  7. My pappy said son youre goin to drive me to drinkin if you dont stop drivin that hotrod lincoln. Nice build!
  8. Thanks for the replys everyone and here is one more pic. Just looking at this pic makes me hear the engine wailing. The molds for this kit are still very crisp and clean. It needs some decals on it and I like your suggestion George. Rolling Thunder would be a great name for it.
  9. Yeah, I had the same issue. Ended up grinding the ###### out of the bottom of the shaker with a dremel and gluing it to the hood. These were not very well engineered kits and I dont plan on building another one. The exhaust tips are too small, the front valence fit is awful and the headlights are too far apart. (not to mention the molded in exhaust system). But after its all said and done, it looks like a 71 Cuda. Revell would have a real hit with a new tool, accurate one of these I think.
  10. Since vizio93 asked for engine pics : lack of underhood detail is one of the biggest letdowns of this kit as well as all the 1/24 Revell Mopars from old Monogram tooling.
  11. Started to do this one as Nash Bridges car but dont like the all yellow frontend. So I did it with Argent grille and chrome bumper. Didnt try to fix the ugly seams on front fenders where pan attaches, so I took the pics from angles that wont show it. OOB build with plug wires and my own special treatment for doing Mopar rally wheels that improve them alot IMO. Paint is Valspar bumblebee yellow and it took MONTHS to dry. Did a not so good job on the fender gills. Anyway, on to the pics. Oh yeah, I shortened the too long stalks that the road lights are mounted on also.
  12. Always remember, accidents cause people. seriously Bill, ive been watching your progress on this one for several days now and im impressed.
  13. I love the old Pro stocks too! that looks great!
  14. Thanks for the compliments. Its straight OOB old AMT kit with front wheels from Revell 49 Merc. I built drag cars almost exclusively when I was a teen and this is the first drag car ive built since returning to the hobby. Wont be the last one.
  15. Testors one shot Fiery Orange laquer right over the white plastic with 3 coats of clear laquer polished with Blue Magic metal polish. only paint job i have ever polished.
  16. I know these models are pretty common so i tried an unusual color. Testors Champagne gold over silver with 2 coats of clear enamel. I know the wheels should be matt but i think every car should have a splash of chrome. Thats why im oldscool!
  17. My wish list: Quick change rear end I beam style front axle instead of the tube "Bell" axle in the current kit Pie crust white wall slicks Over the frame headers Pre chopped tops Just my 2 cents worth, Gerald "oldscool" Goff
  18. Oh, sorry bout that. My names Gerald and I will be posting pics soon. Thanks for the welcome.
  19. Hello everyone, just want to introduce myself. I was born in 1958 so that makes me a 58 model. from what i have gathered, 58 models were abnormally prone to rust so that explains a few things. I built my first model when I was 5 yrs old. It was a 1/32 scale AMT 63 split window Vette with 2 piece plastic tires that i got for my birthday. Anyone remember these? I have never seen these 1/32 AMT kits since. By the time I was 6 or 7 i was very into cars due to my uncles large collection of car mags and old AMT and Johan annuals. Sadly none of his kits still exist but most of his old car mags are still in the shed out in the backyard. None of them dating later than 1964! Love to dig them out every now and then but boy do they stink. Anyway, I built cars until about 74 and then lost interest for the usual reasons. started back a few years ago and have been enjoying it every since. Stumbled on this forum a few days ago and thought I would like to join in the fun. Let the games begin!
